It can't be anyone from the PL else we would have got him before the tour like Schneiderlin. The fact that it's a process means it's not a club in the tier below us. That leaves very few clubs in contention. Bayern aren't going to sell any of their players. Juve has one sellable striker for whom real have a buy back clause so him moving to us is remote. Barca have pedro who is possibly buyable. Real have only benzema and Jesé and de gea would have to be sold for any of them to come. Cavani has apparently decided to stay.

I'm going to go for him bringing jari litmanen from retirement.
 
I already said it, it's Messi. He's now won two trebles and countless trophies at Barcelona, he's hungry for a new challenge.
 
It's going to be one of the two French strikers or it's going to be someone who isn't actually a striker.

The media has pretty much linked us with every single player there is, we were even in for Benteke at one point.
 
Maybe Walcott or even Pato. If Pedro is being talked about, those two probably should be as well.
 
Not much has been written about Benzema, if he is on the market I don't see how we couldn't be interested in him.

LvG is such a prick tease, learned well during his time in Amsterdam.
 
When he says not the one the media are talking about, I think he meant just not the 100m Muller bid. Highly doubt he meant "you never mentioned him yet". So I'm still going to go with Pedro. Or Ronaldo :drool:
 
I would like to see us sign Griezmann. Young, versatile and a fantastic player.
 
The media should proceed to link us to around five new strikers, every week, and ask van Gaal the question when possible.
 
There's not been a great deal in the press linking us to Lacazette, Higuain, Griezmann or Icardi... This is a fool's errand though, not least because I sincerely doubt Van Gaal has been kept apprised in the United States of every little thing the press over here have written regarding United and prospective transfers.

He's exactly what we need, pace and power and someone who can score 20+ goals a season I'd wager.

He's played up front alongside Mario last season and bagged 22 goals, but he still gives LVG the versatility he so loves in his players. He can play out wide with a front 3 or even as a 10 behind a lone forward in 4-2-3-1 set up.

But that would be messing with fans not the media, journalists only care about putting some transfer stories for the fans, it wouldn't matter to them whatsoever if van gaal ends up signing anyone or not.

It seems that Van Gaal seems set on making Rooney the number one striker, therefore, I can only imagine this 'surprise striker' will be used as a back up. Either that, or it's just a smokescreen for a player in a different position.

Maybe De Gea will sign a new contract. :cool:

Lacazette is a good shout actually - its actually weird how little we have been linked to him given that he seems a logical target

This would only upset fans not the media, in fact they'd love to write a story about us failing to get a striker and LvG not delivering the striker fans hoped for etc.....
 
Aguero, City needs home grown players, so a swap with Rooney.
