Its a red but. At least he gets a rest. Only good thing out of it.
Imo ETH doesn't agree with that decision.
He said something like when you freeze it he crossed the line. So imo what he actually mean was Var did a really shitty job. That's why he said we would appeal.
No ffsHas anyone thought perhaps Casemiro done this on purpose? He'll sit out the league games leaving him fresh for the Barcelona games, plus can't pick up any suspensions before the cup final?
Thankshttps://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...k-ten-hag-not-happy-with-casemiro-sending-off
Ten Hag not happy about the sending off
It's asking for trouble sure, but there isn't a specific law on touching an opponent's neck with your hands I'm sure.
I'm don't think you can put your hands around a neck in any capacity and expect to get away with it, but if he was off for Violent Conduct we should appeal.
From the FA's Law 12:
I would argue he certainly didn't use excessive force or brutality, thus probably deserved the sending off for being a dummy, but should only receive either a one or two match ban.
Normally a chest push like this is a yellow. It takes all context out of the question though, as, as you've said, you can give like 5 or 6 yellows based on that brawl alone and referee tend not to do that, instead opting for punishing two "original" participants, which includes the victim. What's he done there that warrants a yellow card? and for that matter what's anyone else (including Casemiro) done that warrants a card? The only offence is the original foul which was completely idiotic but nothing more.
Because referees are bad and inconsistent. So why was Ayew not sent off then?
don't let all the other crap decisions make you lose your head over this one.
Do people really think this makes things look better? The rule isn't "don't choke other player's neck". You can't be grabbing his collar like that with both hands either.
Other crap decisions? It's the same thing, in the exact same incident.Because referees are bad and inconsistent.
How did you manage to quote my post without reading the half that you didn't bold?
No it’s not and no it’s not
His thumbs are pointing inwards towards each other and his fingers are pointing towards his back. He's got his hands around his neck, he's not got hold of his shirt, he's got his shirt trapped between his hand and his neck. You can see where his thumbs are in the other picture. What? He’s quite clearly grabbing him by the collar not the throat. And where the heck have you got 10 seconds from?
Looking at some of the fan angles it looks proper soft. His hands go from pulling his collar to resting on his shoulders. Also to isolate him from everything that went in is unfair.

That view vindicates people saying it’s a soft red? He’s got his collar. There’s zero choking going on, no violence and almost no force.Do people really think this makes things look better? We're not talking about a two footed tackle in a completely different half of the game here.
It’s worse than a red
He’s clearly pulling him by the collar

This is much more an argument that Ayew should have gone too than Casemiro should have stayed on, referees and VAR are just comically bad.The more you see it, the more it really isn't a red card at all.
Especially with the context of what everyone else was doing
There's a high res image in this thread literally showing you where his thumbs are (together, in the middle of Hughes' throat). The collar is pinned between his hands and Hughes neck. Repeatedly showing the same footage from an angle where you can only see part of Casemiro's hands isn't going to change that.
True. I think there was a case for others to be sent off or no one sent off. If they're not going to view the entire incident and be fair, they should just let it go for the match and review/ban retroactively after seeing the referee's report. The more you see it, the more it really isn't a red card at all.

VAR shits the bed again. Showing a freeze frame or the same fraction of a second in a loop (which was all the ref saw, squinting at a fecking telly screen from a couple of yards away) it does look like Casemiro is throttling him. When you see the full incident, from a few angles. It’s clear as day that there’s nothing violent about it. The sort of minor handbags that many referees wouldn’t even book someone for if it happened in front of them. Yet here we are. Fecking VAR is making such a farce of football. The worst change to happen to the game in my lifetime.
Think of what your describing here and then explain to me how it’s possible to choke someone? If my thumbs are on someone’s neck and my fingers are gripping someone’s collar all i can do is pull them towards me… or just do a weird thumb push into their tracheaThere's a high res image in this thread literally showing you where his thumbs are (together, in the middle of Hughes' throat).
