Sneijder to Galatasaray?

Look at all the players that Inter wanted to get rid off this year: Lucio, Maicon, Julio Cesar, all of them are players past their best who are in it for another paycheck. Lucio was disgusting at Juve, and Juve have already said that his contract will be ended at the end of the season. Maicon is just collecting paychecks at City. Julio Cesar has been just a shadow of himself at QPR.

Sneijder is also past his best. One World Cup and one Champions League has been his best, the rest of the time he's been meh. Displaced in the team by Coutinho. No grazie

Sneijder was excellent in a very shitty Dutch team only six months ago. He's also 28 where as Lucio is 34, Maicon is 31 and Julio Cesar is 33. Additionally Lucio and Maicon's games have always been massively based around pace, which neither of them have anymore.

Not only has Sneijder not lost what pace he has because he's 28 and actually in his prime (theoretically) but his game has nothing at all to do with pace anyway.

The reason Inter wanted rid of Maicon and Lucio is because they're both well over the hill and not worth the money in wages. The would ideally keep Sneijder, they just can't afford him. He was also not displaced by Coutinho, the reason he's not getting picked is because they can't afford to pay him and have stopped selecting him as a means of either forcing a move or forcing him to sign a new contract for less money. Inter actually were in negotiations with Sneijder about signing him on for lower wages but Sneijder rejected them, they 100% wanted to keep him if they could have afforded it.

He's rubbish. Unless we sign him; in which case he's brilliant.

He's not turned up for training today apparently. I honestly think this is too late now, he's always bloody injured and I just don't like his attitude on the pitch.

He was magnificent in the 09-10 season, the best player on the planet for me and he should have won the Balon Do'r, but that was where he had 2 dogs of war doing the graft alongside him for club and country. He had Cambiasso and Motta for Inter and De Jong and Van Bommel for Holland. We would need to set that up for him to flourish here. It's YET another player who plays best in the hole, it's just too many.

Yes, it's value at £11m, of course it is, I remember when we were thinking of spending £35m on him, but his standing in the game is such that he would demand to play every week. Someone is going to get an absolute bargain, but it won't be us.

His wife said he's heading to Paris.

I think he has all the skills to be brilliant in the Pirlo role.

He'll go to who ever pays him the biggest wages ,and the only ones crazy enough to do it is PSG.

Sneijder had his chance and he told us to fukk off. So, fukk Sneijder.

Anyway, Cleverley is developing very nicely. Kagawa wears a red shirt. Rooney plays brilliantly in that position. Dare I mention Ando?

If we're looking to add strength in midfield, and perhaps we should, we should be looking at defensive midfielders.

Is this confirmed? Everyone says this, he turned us down, he told us to feck off. IIRC he did nothing of the sort. He was pleasant to United fans, and said afterwards that he wanted to come but that we never came in for him.

That could all be bollocks mind, but that's what my brain is telling me it remembers.

Before his wife said they were going to Paris, (see above), I was about to come out and say that I'd predict City would sign him this window.

If he does indeed go to PSG, I'd be quite glad - he'd only strengthen City, and PSG aren't really a threat to us.

Yeah, the way I remember it is he wanted to come here but we couldn't reach an agreement on his crazy wage demands because he's greedy.

Something about him demanding his own helicopter or something I seem to recall

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...-Sneijder-offer-for-QPR-relegation-fight.html

HARRY REDKNAPP has been sensationally offered Dutch star Wesley Sneijder to boost QPR’s relegation scrap.
The Rangers boss was shocked to receive a call yesterday offering him the midfield maestro.

Arsenal and Chelsea have already snubbed deals for the Inter Milan star over his huge wage demands.
And Redknapp said: “I was asked by one agent if I wanted to sign Sneijder.
“Of course I do. However, he’s on about £200,000 a week and now he wants to join QPR?

“I won’t name the agent, but let’s just say I think a deal is unlikely.”
Redknapp wants to make up to five signings this month in an attempt to keep rock-bottom QPR in the Premier League.
And he might yet take revenge on West Ham for beating him to Joe Cole by luring crowd favourite Mohamed Diame away from Upton Park.

Hammers chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold are trying to thrash out a deal to raise the player’s wages by £10,000 a week and double his £3.5m escape clause.
Redknapp is ready to fork out up to £5m for Diame plus a lucrative signing-on fee. But he kept his cards close to his chest last night, saying: “We’ll wait and see.”

Seems the word has gone out around Europe that QPR is the place to go for the last big pay off, eh? Hangover of Sparky's summer spending spree I guess. Bosingwa's been telling all his friends! Amazing that so gifted a player as Sneijder would be willing to have agents pushing him out to a side fighting to stay up. Are his outgoings so great that he can't shave £50k or so off his wage demands and sign for a Champions League side?

 fecking hell that is embarassing, imagine Sneijder at QPR ffs!

So Diame has a £3.5million release clause, but 'Arry is ready to fork out £5million? :wenger:

One of two things has happened here: either his release clause is not £3.5m, or The Sun has made something up.

Was it not a twitter parody account that started these rumours? Or has there always (since this morning?) been interest?

If he does go, we can finally recognise that it was always about the money with him, and that QPR will be playing Premier League football next season.

I've always thought it was about the money with him mate, not that it should come as a surprise because it is for most players. Pretty heavy fall from grace though, he was the best midfielder in the world in that 2010 season. QPR for feck sake :wenger:

With the release clause I think they have just cocked up, even 'Arry wouldn't think that was good deal.

I'd throw big wages his way for a few seasons. I reckon he'd be brilliant in the premier league. He would be a great player to have, with Scholes and Giggs leaving. I think he'd be effective in a 3 with Carrick, Cleverley and Himself as AM or Cleverley, Sneijder, Kagawa as the ultimate one touch passing midfield. (not counting barca)

Indeed. He may not be exactly what we need but a player of that caliber would improve any midfield, getting him on the cheap would be a massive bonus. He'd also bring with him a lot of experience, which we will be loosing.

I'd be delighted if we were in for him. He may not be at his best, or the player we need, but that man can run a game on his own, in the right mood.

I don't think we need him though at all, we already have too much competition in attacking midfield with Kagawa and Rooney both deserving to start there and one having to be sacrificed out on the wing. So Sneijder would just make that problem worse, there is no way we could get them all in.

I said on the last page that if he could adapt his game to a deeper role then it could make sense. He would be a replacement for Clev and partner for Carrick.. but it would be a gamble and part of me thinks we may as well just sign an actual centre mid, instead of an attacking mid who we need to convert.

I know a lot of people might disagree with me here but if he comes here I think there are two options. One, you move Rooney to the left like we did when we had Ronaldo. Mind you he was still effective scoring and assisting. I know Rooney is most effective when he plays behind the striker but we dont need him there anymore if we have Sniejder and Kagawa. Or he could just play up top with RVP and score a bunch of goals. Second, we could move Sneidjer to deeper lying playmaker and keep Rooney playing behind the striker and rotate him with Kagawa.

RVP

Rooney---------Kagawa---------Nani

Sneijder------Carrick

This will be our most potent attacking lineup if we do have him.

Sneijder strikes me as someone who really is all about the money. Even if we could get him, I wouldn't want him. I especially wouldn't want to kick a product of our youth system in Cleveley out for him.

Add to that, in the couple of times I have seen Sneijder play lately he doesn't look that good anymore, he's lost something. Cleverley and Kagawa will be running rings around him in no time.

Thank God for a bit of sense at last in this thread. Over the last couple of years, he is the sort of player that isn't playing to his potential, and to be paying over the odds money for a player who is rumoured to be a good player
doesn't make sense for us. His level is Inter Milan and to be honest, the reason why they won the Champions League was simply because of Mourinho and his management skills plus E'toos ability to play at left-back. Since then, his performances have been meh at best, and if we paid 24 million for RVP, then we should be paying even less for Sneijder.

Yes - at least three started it, presumably run by the same person. It's a non-story.

Well the Sun story has quotes by Harry. Although I'd consider the fake ITK accounts more reliable than him.

Ah, didn't see the Sun story/quotes. Just remember it being originally spread around by some parody accounts so thought it was bull.

Makes little to no sense from both QPR and Sneijder's perspective as Sneijder will want a lot of money that QPR can't afford, and I just can't see Sneijder wanting to go there even though from the sounds of it he has been offered by one of his agents.

Evens to sign for Spurs now

We really dodged a bullet with Sneijder it would seem.

I still wouldnt say no if he was to sign on loan for the remainder of the season. But 2-3 years ago I was desperate we signed him for £40m +

No thank you. He had one monster season, since then, he's not been at his best and was injured often. And he's not what we need - we have Kagawa or Rooney in that position

Plus, he seems to be a money obsessed player. All players at Inter agreed to a salary cut, except him

Big words - if he signs for Spurs and does well we may have missed a bargain.

He's an undoubted talent, and not over the hill - unless he's more injury prone than its let on.

Suppose time will tell - but Id dudpect if he goes to Spurs, he wont be getting the sort of money he's on at Inter. Makes him even more of a risk worth taking in my eyes.

BBC Sport claiming that Sneijder wants to move to a 'top' PL club this month. (Rules out QPR)

It just has to be Man City for my money.
