Smashley Young

My favorite part was after his assist when he was screaming at the players while giving them fives. He's got the Man United spirit and fire.

He had a very good second half. Loved it.

He looks Man Utd class to me.

He is the definition of a modern winger with a range of attributes at his disposal. Buying him is gonna be a very smart investment.

One of us! One of us! One of us!

Looks the part to me. He's got that little bit more inventiveness and guile then Valencia so personally it has to be Nani on the right, and Young on the left for me. Our wing options are looking quite solid at the moment with Valencia and Park the two more defensive minded players that can come in and still keep the team strong.

Was very good today, direct on the ball too and tried to take Richards on consistently which has been missing in his other pre-season games. He will rack up assists galore, just needs to get on the scoring sheet now, he's getting in good positions but just seems to be rushing his shots a tad.

Well, after his first game we can say he replaced Ronaldo... as the most fouled United player.

Personally I thought he was a bit slow of thought today. At times he should have just put in an early ball to play the percentages and instead he would hold up the ball and allow the defense to recover.

The communication between him and the other forwards wasn't quite there yet either. These are things which will come with time as he gets more matches under his belt.

So impressed at how quickly he seems to have slotted into the team.

I just hope we can get his set piece delivery as consistent as it was for Villa a couple of years back. He has the ability to play near undefendable balls and that's something we've sorely missed in recent years.

Give him a couple of months with fergies magic and he could become very good indeed. He was decent today, good assist, and he now can build on onto that

He seems to have settled into an understanding with our other forwards reasonably well. It would still be nice to see a natural leftie on the left, instead of whoever we put there cutting in 90% of the time.

Ronaldo was at United 6 years, I think Giggs who has been here for 20 will have been fouled more than Ronaldo. I have no stats though so I cannot be sure. Also I don't think Young will have accrued more fouls than said players in 90 minutes of football.

Had a good performance today but really needs to use his left foot when the opportunity presents itself. Quite a few times today, Richards practically begged him to go on the outside and cross with his left because he knew he just wouldn't even if his life depended on it, but Young tended to play it inside or back to Evra/Rafael if he couldn't get it on his right.

He was probably referring to "per game"... at least that's how I understood it.

I'm obviously missing something. I thought he was fairly average today. Not that I'm worried. Once he gets on the same wavelength as the players aroundh im he'll be better.

As an aside, I don't know why he doesn't take all of our corners. The delivery from that free kick was fantastic.

They still like that short corner for some reason. I'd just assume they take their time and just get a good delivery into the box. With Vidic, Ferdinand, Smalling and Welbeck in the box, you have to produce something.

Thought he was ok. Not sure how it came off on TV but he was also frustrating at the game. He kept getting into a good position then cut back onto his right and at times it meant his cross was blocked or he was forced to pass back. Not that its bad to pass back but you could see Rooney frustrated at one time because he spent too much time on the ball. And it kinda sucked cos then the next move Welbeck went down the left and put it in first time which was a wicked ball but nobody gambled.

He will no doubt improve with more games with the players so its not a bad thing. Im happy to have him for his set pieces.

He's dynamic in his play, comfortable playing a variety roles. Comfortable playing short sharp passes through the middle yet good at stretching play down the wing.

All in all, a seemingly astute addition to the fluid attacking unit we've seen in pre-season.

I find it baffling the TV lot seem to think he was very good...Apparently Uncle Fester was raving about him which might have had an impact. He was OK in periods and his movement was great but he was far from the top 5 performers in our team.. He was hugely frustrating as Sylar says, consistently trying and failing to beat Richards down the left with some Heskey meets a Swan style step over method and cutting back onto his right every time when he should've crossed early...Smalling was more dangerous on the wing.

It's not the day to pick faults as it was a fantastic performance, but had Nani put in that performance he'd have been slaughtered by the press/wums/some of our fans.

He'll get better. He's a very good finisher for a start, which he's rarely had a chance to demonstrate.

He seems to be a slightly shitter version of Nani however thats not to say thats a bad thing. He has the same tendency to try and hold the ball up instead of just whipping it in from the left. At the moment, even if he is only a flat track bully, I can't really complain. He adds great squad depth and we need more players to win those silly away games that we've dropped points at like Fulham.

I am sure he is going to gel in better as the season progresses. I am sure of that. He will be a big player for us this season.

He was very good, easily top 3 along with Rooney and Nani.

Thank feck for that. I thought I was going mad.
