Smashley Young

Useful squad player who's had a productive career. But is a shameful diver and had a shocking Euros and missed a penalty. I can understand some people's dislike for him, but to say he is a shit footballer is pretty dumb.

No, at the pathetic posters falling over themselves to put shit on him. It's pretty funny to me, that is for sure. I don't really care, he's pretty shite, and doesn't look match fit. There is absolutely zero any of us can do change how much game time he is getting and how shit it is.

The lengths people go to in putting shit on a player is hilarious.
No ones falling over themselves, they're just calling a player they don't rate a bit shit. Lengths people go to ? You mean type out on a keyboard that they don't rate him? Yeah, such great lengths

If you really want to laugh at something, read your posts from this read. Everyone's doing that.

To be fair he has many shite performances over the recent year. Those below 4/10 ratings are very common from Young, which are fair ratings too.

I didn't explain it clearly, I ain't saying Young has to stay, right now I don't care about him as a player at all, he's hurting nobody, preventing no one from playing time and if the club was uncomfortable with his wages, they would never have given them to him. When Jesse comes back then Young will have to go then IMHO. As of now, whether he stays or leaves isn't that different to me. If the likes of Zaha can't get playing time ahead of Young then he wasn't good enough to begin with, so his current presence isn't an issue.

Situations do change. When we signed Young, there were question marks regarding whether Nani is going to stay and if Park (whose in my opinion he was just a workhorse) would be able to keep on running up and down the pitch as he used to do. The likes of Januzaj, Zaha and Jesse were either earning their spurs in the reserve/youth team or else at Palace.

In Young SAF found a seasoned EPL winger, who had a fantastic season at Villa. His versatility was also an asset. Its only fair to believe that SAF saw Young as a first teamer (or at least a serious contender to that role) and the salary reflects that.

Things are a bit different now. Nani has signed a new contract, Januzaj had taken world football by surprise and we have just invested 15m on Zaha. Jesse is fairing well in the Championship and its seems that out of the two under performing wingers, Moyes would prefer Valencia then him.

If it was for me I would loan Zaha in January and keep Young for the time being. In Summer Young should be sold and Jesse/Zaha should take his (and Giggs) place.

I'd let him go. He's not as terrible as some make out. On his day he is useful, it's just that giving him games is a bit pointless now. We have Januzaj, Nani, Kagawa amd Valencia as our main 4 wide players, all of whom are much better than him, and playing zaha has a bigger upside long term than young. And if you're going to have a 6th choice winger let it be some 18 year old kid tying to make his mark rather than a 28 year old chap on big money.

I'm not having a go at you in general, but: Nobody knew that Januzaj would make this much of an impact at 18. That is pretty much why Young is still at the club, that and the club sees that he has something else to offer still..
Zaha has made one appearance, Januzaj is just taking off and nobody could have predicted his meteoric rise. Kagawa has not looked comfortable on the left and the fan bias in wanting him to play regularly means he'll have more advocates for it, Valencia and Nani have been just as inconsistent as Young. Even if they haven't just plain old been 'shite'.

Its pretty evident that we lack quality on the flanks. We simply lack the class we had throughout nearly all SAF's reign. However we've got some great kids coming up. Januzaj has been our best winger so far. Zaha is extremely promising and Jesse is doing very well in the Championship. On top of that we've got two wingers (Nani and Valencia) who had already shown that they can do pretty well when on form.

I cant say if the kids would be able to save the day on this. What's sure is that we wont find out if their able to do that unless we give them a run. Young is not only taking playing time away from this kids but his hefty salary makes it difficult to the club to bring in new players in. FFS we currently have 7 wingers to cover two roles (Nani, Valencia, Young, Giggs, Jesse, Januzaj, Zaha) + 2 players who are currently being deployed there (Welbeck and Kagawa). That's way over the top.

It does, doesn't it. His wage fecking burns you.. Classic.

He's probably going to say "no" to that because it probably doesn't "burn" him.

Such hypocrites in the match day thread. They wouldn't call our player a cnut if they thought he was a good player. Because they don't, they use that agenda to insult him as much as possible.

Personally I think he's an excellent squad player and has made a huge difference to our play tonight since coming on.

Wind up the moan wagon. Cause here comes THE CAF!

Rightly so. He's a poor player and a terrible cheat. We'd be massive hypocrites if we thought this was okay. He doesn't deserve to be at this club.

Clearly. And that's the ultimate vilification of him

It's his own fault. He has been told publically by Ferguson and now Moyes. You just expect it now.

Who the feck cares?

He's a cnut and he's not very good at football either. You might tolerate it from a player who is literally irreplaceable to you (but that doesn't mean you condone it), but why on earth should anyone applaud a player who offers this club nothing apart from his ability to cheat

Oh feck off. He went down very easily but there is contact. Players do that week in, week out. It's when there's no contact or when he makes the contact that there's a problem.

Agenda. Driven. Posters.

Because of this hatred for Young from our fans I have started to like him.

Ronaldo says hello regarding diving.

Not really looking at it through rose tinted specs are we?

Rubbish. They would do it if it was Rooney who had dived. Has he heck made a huge difference, stop overstating what you see. Kagawa moving centrally has been the big difference.

He's almost assisted two goals in less than 15 minutes since coming on. How can you possibly complain.

No, it was a dive from a serial diver. He has been told to cut it out by both SAF and Moyes, in private and in public. He's a cheat and a poor one at that. It has nothing to do with any agenda, bar thinking ordinary players who refuse to stop cheating shouldn't play for the club.

Commentator describes Young's contribution as an 'impressive cameo'. Still, he gets abuse.

I'd love to see if any of you would say these hurtful thing to his face.

Then be objective. He's been involved in the worst incidents of cheating for penalties i can remember in a long time

What's that got to do with anything? We're talking about the penalty incident tonight, not incidents that have gone before.

Had that been any other player nothing would have been said. A few would have said they'd gone down easy maybe but nothing like the hate Young gets because of his history and also because he's a bit average.

He's genuinely very good at diving, I'm not sure you'll ever see a play with the ability that he has again in that regard. I reckon he'd be good in Eastenders.

He's fecking shit at it. That's the problem!
