Signing low-profile British-Irish potential

This place is pathetic. We look to be finally doing what many people on here have been crying out for, and now everyone’s fecking moaning  some of you lot will just never be happy, it’s exhausting.

People only started crying out for this like 10 days ago.

Don't think we can attract top players anymore personally so not much of a choice going this route. Which top player is going to sacrifice his career to join a hopeless team as us ?

So sign some hungry young players and let's where it takes us. Win win in all situations, either unexpectedly succeed or finish 8th-10th and put more pressure on Woodward to feck off!

Leicester can sign good players, Wolves can sign good players. They will still be really good players who would be desperate to join United.

I don’t mind taking a gamble on one player like this but we need to get real quality in this squad. If that doesn’t happen the fans have to show their discontent for what is happening in front of us.

I don’t think the rumours are genuine anyway. We are in silly season and after Solskjaer’s previous comments on what he wants in the squad the papers are having a field day.

I'm not going to argue against who you think won't make it, but if that's the case, why is Longstaff not viewed in the same manner? The difference between he and those others is that he would cost money.

If you want to move on players like Smalling, Jones, Young, maybe even Lingard, you need to fill their roster spots with homegrown players because you have only 8 of 25 now (which is the absolute minimum). Longstaff and James might be considered as closer to contributing to the first team and/or, they plan on loaning out Gomes and Garner. If you promote Gomes and Garner, but never play them because they aren’t ready, it’s really a waste of a roster spot. Plus, they don’t get the chance to develop.

Frankly, I haven’t seen too much of Garner, so I don’t know how close he is to first team football. Gomes looks really small and to play centrally in the PL at 5’3” would be unusual to say the least.

I know that it seems ridiculous that we would be going for players like Longstaff and James, but I do believe there are other, more mundane motives behind these reports and we shouldn’t panic too much.

You do not have register players who are under 21.

Not world class players who want to win quickly and not challenge for 4th spot though that's I'm sure about. In comparison to other big clubs in terms of attraction we must be deluded to think we have advantage over them or in their same level.

We have nothing but money to offer players to come, which for top class players isn't everything. Trophies and league challenge matter more for these kind of players. Other clubs will offer them money too but titles on top of it.

Only some hungry young players who don't care much about trophies and want to just play for a big club and develop will be willing to join the current United.

the old adage, “past performance is not a indicator of future performance” rings a bit true here. We’ve had plenty of shite low profile foreign players as well.

And plenty of shite high profile foreign players too. To be honest, while the likes of James and Longstaff don't massively excite me - I'd prefer them to someone like Strootman, Bale etc

Personally I'm more than happy to get a couple of these in as long as we also get a couple of players to go straight into the first team. 2 young players for the squad who might make it as starters eventually, and 3 first team signings including a RW, CM who can do some of what Ander did and either a RB or a CB would be fine for me.

If we just sign all the young British players we're currently being linked to, we'd probably end up with 1 first team player improvement (AWB) and then 3 or 4 squad options and that cannot be good enough.

Not convinced on Bowen, McB or Adams personally. They're at the older end of that list and I think they're PL mid table players at best.

Godfrey has shown an interesting mix of attributes: passing, pace and a goal threat too for a centre back and he'd be the one I'd be most interested in signing..

So are we going to sign a lot of lower league players to come into squad or to loan back out. Where is the room in the squad. There is no indication that Darmian, Rojo etc will be leaving. I have seen no links and the fact we will get offered peanuts for them and just refuse to sell them like Darmian last year.

I think that we will be getting rid of the overpaid foreign deadwood squad players and bringing in young domestic players looking to make their name in the game. I still think we'll make some big foreign signing too.

We'll have to get rid of the likes of Rojo and Darmian for peanuts just to get them off the wage bill. They're dead weight.

I think we would not miss Bailly,Jones,Rojo,Young,Darmian,Fred,Matic,Sanchez much and you could perhaps add Lukaku,Mata and Lingard to that list. My point is that alongside Garner,Gomes,Greenwood,Laird and Chong promoted to the squad I´m all for James,Sessangon,Rice,Longstaff and similar players. Why? Because the sheer lack of effort and commitment from many of the current players is astounding and the quility is not there. These young players would give us a base to build on and I´m pretty sure a much better effort than what we have seen in the past 6 years.
On top of this we need to go for De Light as he would be also be a proper Captain + Striker + 2 midfield players. I would suggest Demele from Lyon and Ndombele and Rabiot on a free.
