Show of hands....

Interesting thing from the IPO document was this sentence.

So far, our net spend is about £13m.

So going forward that suggests we're willing to spend about £37m net.

Looking at our two most high profile and confirmed targets, RVP would be £20m and Lucas £30m (both figures at at the top end), which would be £50m.

United probably want to do deals closer to £15m and £25m respectively i.e. £40m.

Then the sale of Berbatov for about £5m brings us to the final figure of £35m.

The trouble is, it looks like we'll not be able to do business at those prices.

Fiscal year 2012 includes the January transfer window, doesn't it?

Fiscal year 2012 includes the January transfer window, doesn't it?

Yes, it's a little confusing because the US and UK fiscal years are different.

In the UK it's 6 to 5 April so would include next January's window, not January past.

In the US it's 1 Oct to 30 Sep, so that would include last January's but not the forthcoming I think.

Not sure if the IPO document is US or UK.

I just worked off these figures.

Season 12/13

Nick Powell £6,000,000
Shinji Kagawa £12,000,000
Sean Goss £100,000
Total £18,100,000

Ritchie De Laet £1,000,000
Oliver Norwood £400,000
Tomasz Kuszczak Free
Park Ji-Sung £2,500,000
Paul Pogba Free
Total £4,900,000

NET £13,200,000

Actually, scratch all that, I'm talking bollocks.

It seems our 2012 fiscal year ended 30th June 2012. Perhaps because we're a football club, we have different procedures to the standard.

Which puts all those figures in doubt as it would include last summer's signings too.

The whole "we expect our net player capital expenditure for our fiscal year 2012 to be approximately £50 million" seemingly just means they haven't finalised reporting but they expect it to be this based on already existing data.

Essentially, we can't tell anything about potential transfer spend from the IPO document. My bad. :o

Well Evra is pretty much always fit and he is our first choice left back so reckon he'll play a lot and we have Blackett as backup so we should be fine.

Oh right, so Fabio and Fryers can't get a game, but Blackett could be used as back up?

Why don't we just say it's gonna be Evra again for the whole season, no matter how poorly he plays. It might not be ideal, but at least it's an accurate summation of what will probably happen.

I am left wondering just how poorly does Evra actually have to play, before one of our talented youngsters will get a chance? Fabio is having to go on loan for his chance, and Fryers was obviously not prepared to sit as third choice until Evra either collapses to the floor from over use, or simply retires!!! :D

I imagine that agents' fees are capitalised when players are bought so that needs to be factored into the equation. Legal and professional fees associated with bringing a non-current asset to a usable state are usually capitalised. Having never worked on accounts for a football club I confess to a certain degree of ignorance on the subject, there may be a standard that writes agents' fees off to the profit and loss account but it would go against the general rule.

Oh well, worth a shot!

Sad feeling that all we will get before the closure of the transfer window is more spin about how we are "interested" in one maybe two players....thats it. Its all familiar territory for United these days. Then of course the transfer window will open January and the old mantra will be rolled out who can you buy January? Not available for Champions league...yada yada yada...I dont think there will be breaking news on Sky's yellow ticker yet....

at least we got Kagawa- right age, right price and a player that will improve us.

Well I think buying Luke for £30m would be absolute madness. We've got a lot of flair in Kagawa already, in an area where we were short of ideas last year. The thing is I don't see any cover for Carrick available in the market nor a left back, sadly.

F....Fer....Fergie?

Is that you??

What do you mean by cover though? Someone happy to sit on the bench? Theres plenty of players we can buy to improve us in the centre, either defensively or attacking wise. I still don't understand why we have shown no interest in M'Vila either.

Someone good enough defensively to play alongside Clev, Ando, Scholes etc. in a 4-4-2 and with a lot of drive and energy to deal with the best midfielders in Europe in a 4-3-3 alongside Carrick & co. M'Vila is not good enough.

Fellaini, Moutinho, Witsel to name a few. There are definitely players out there if Fergie sees it as an priority and is willing to spend the money.

another £40m could still be spent as £15m downpayments on Kagawa and Powell are on course to be offset through sales, loan fees&compensation

especially if Berbatov - who QPR want - goes and brings in another £5m ish. Hope all that made sense #MUFC

A ploy to shift some more STs

LB & cover for Carrick please.

We're not signing another player for the central midfield. Just forget it. Aint happening. To be honest, if we are going to be using a 3 man central midfield this season then I'm not sure we really need one. Another body would be handy though, sure.

A left back would be nice. But I'm starting to think that won't happen either.

Maybe, or you could simply be underrating him.

Anderson hasn't done anything to indicate he's going to make it long term here. Sure, every now and again he looks like a World beater but it's not good enough to have a handful of quality performances followed by a handful of 'mares followed by a lengthy spell injured. Then rinse and repeat.

I am still hopeful though.

So obviously Lucas was second choice to Hazard wonder if they'll be a second choice for Lucas or whether this 40m will stay where it is....

Are we done now? I have a feeling someone else is coming

It ain't over til it's over etc.

Based on the Summer so far, I reckon we'll sign 3 more wingers and 2 strikers.

I agree. I'm perfectly happy going into the season with the squad we have (I shared the same view before signing RVP), but for some reason I think Fergie has one more up his sleeve.

Yeah I agree, I feel like we'll get a young fullback or something, maybe Clyne. It wouldn't make sense to put Fabio out on loan if he didn't have someone to cover for evra.

Already signed for Southampton

Thanks for posting the Ducker tweets. Seem to have substance.

I reckon there will be one more addition but don't expect it to be a high profile one.
