Should we change captaincy as well?

He's been horrible this season, but in truth he should have never been captain. In a locker room with the likes of Bruno, Ronnie and Varane, no way does Maguire deserve to be captain. He needs to start working on getting his form back, and hopefully a new manager that gives us some sort of solid shape can help.
 
Has to be done. Maguire is just not captain material. He inspires no one and is not a leader.
 
You just have to look at Maguire's body language on the pitch and the way he presents himself in pressers etc that he is not United captain material. He doesnt inspire confidence. How can you be confident in such a captain who is seriously limited at the highest level?

Give it to Ronaldo.
 
Has to be Ronaldo, a true leader, a player other players follow, experienced captain and would do great. A quick win it would be.
 
Give it to Bruno. He is the only one who can be a long term captain and a good one.
 
Of course we should. No need for our third best CB who has never captained anyone in his life before coming here, to continue being captain.
 
Maguire is delusional, totally unacceptable performance levels from a captain and we played better when he got sent off. Giving the captaincy to Ronaldo would be the first thing I'd do.
 
He is a thickheaded prick with a punchable face and a irritating voice. It shouldnt even be a debate. Ronaldo should be the one as i dont think Bruno is ready yet. He still lets his emotions gets the best out of him.

He shouldn’t be playing week in week out for us. I’d be looking to offload him too. Maybe Everton would take him? I know Leicester don’t want him back.

Lose 5-0 at home to Liverpool - After the game Maguire stands there and says I dont want to be here
Lose 2-0 at home to City - Maguire after the game says we didnt have the belief we could win
Lose 4-1 away to Watford - Maguire gets sent off, throws the armband on the floor.

He is an absolute disgrace and a clown.

His performances for England really don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Lots of players do well for their countries but have average club careers. Maguire is just another example. That celebration against Albania will forever be the meme that keeps on giving. Can’t stand the guy after that and he shouldn’t be anywhere near captaincy at this club ffs.
 
I would be all for a change. Nothing in his behavior and attitude screams captain material for me
 
Purely because of his big head, people expect him to be cut from the same lionhearted cloth as Steve Bruce or John Terry. Inside he is nothing like either of them and doesn’t thrive in this role as a leader. It might be embarrassing for him in the short term but better overall to have the armband taken away.

And automatically disqualifies him from.beong a captain? Or better yet make him a worse choice than frickin Maguire. He could be 60 and would still be a better choice than our current club captain who has no business holding on to that armband.
 
If he came out and said he is disappointed in his performance yesterday and in general during this run and he wants to focus on himself and his own game so has asked to relinquish the captaincy I think he would get a lot of credit for it
 
There were so many underperforners in the team over the past twelve months that I will give him the benefit of the doubt. He is not really a leader though but I don't think anyone really is in the squad. De Gea and Ronaldo being offered as alternatives is a big indication of this.
 
He goes out and says he and the players have to look in the mirror then he scores against albania and cups his ears. Only to put even shitter performances for the club afterwards.

I've been one of his biggest fans on here but he's just too dumb and fragile to be a captain at a big club.

I think you’re right and a lot of people share this sentiment. The old United players get a lot of shit for living in the past but Keane has had Maguire’s number since we got battered off Tottenham 6-1.

For me, this is the only way he gains any respect back from the fans. There’s absolutely no shame in saying he’s not ready for it yet.
 
To be honest if Phil Jones came back from injury at the start of the season and played like Maguire has done in the same period we would be demanding to know why he is still at the club.
There is a legitimate argument Maguire shouldn't be at a club of our stature but incredibly we've gone and made him captain.

I’ve been saying since the day he arrived: Bruno. Apart from Ronaldo who is on his last legs, he’s the last remaining player with a true winning mentality at the club. The other players are unashamedly happy to continue with mediocrity.

Solskjaer made him captain. Hopefully someone with a bit of sense comes in and he’ll be straight on the bench.
 
I keep thinking ole did himself no favours keeping Maguire as captain a blind man could see he's not up to it at all ,and after the England game well he should have been dropped.
 
Ole made his decision way too soon. He should had waited until end of the 19/20 to where he should give the captain to.
 
Bruno for captain. Maguire isn’t a leader but he’s the first name on the team sheet for England so can’t be all bad… he has had good games for us but almost as many poor games… needs varane alongside him to cover his lack of pace.
 
The obsession over changing the captaincy is bizarre. It's a largely meaningless ceremonial role. May as well start a thread about whether we should change the rules of the tea club and ban anyone who falls more than 2 weeks behind on donating to the milk kitty.

We all know he isn't good enough. Terrible to witness that the team looked better without him when down to ten. Watford,city,Leicester, liverpool all knew just to run at him or pressure him and the rewards come.
 
Very unlikely Carrick makes the change. I think either the interim manager does it or the new manager.

Putting Maguire the football player aside completely, Maguire the captain is horrible. We need a change. Give it to Bruno and tell him cut down on the play acting and add that positional and passing discipline to his game.
 
Obviously Ronaldo should be captain, with Varane next in line.
