This is such a non issue but somehow some fans do care about who wears the armband. Just do it like Real Madrid and throw the band towards the player who has been a senior teammember the longest and be done with the whole discussion.
It doesnt matter who the captain is at all.

Disagree. I think not having a solid captain that demanded the best out of those around them on the pitch, has been one of the biggest detriments to our success and a big contributor to our failings.
This is more apt when you see the age group of the team. Players in their 20’s need a standard setting captain more than the 30+ year olds.
You don’t have to look too far back and see our most decorated captain and what he brought to the team. A player who was injured one season and his peers linked the losing of the title to his omission. A guy that set the bar high and STILL to this day, he can call Scholes, Neville, Giggs, Beckham et. al. his ‘mates’.
With success and demands, he can’t have been that bad of a guy.
