Should the captaincy be removed from Bruno?

This is such a non issue but somehow some fans do care about who wears the armband. Just do it like Real Madrid and throw the band towards the player who has been a senior teammember the longest and be done with the whole discussion.

It doesnt matter who the captain is at all.

Couldn't agree more, weird obsession by some

Disagree. I think not having a solid captain that demanded the best out of those around them on the pitch, has been one of the biggest detriments to our success and a big contributor to our failings.

This is more apt when you see the age group of the team. Players in their 20’s need a standard setting captain more than the 30+ year olds.

You don’t have to look too far back and see our most decorated captain and what he brought to the team. A player who was injured one season and his peers linked the losing of the title to his omission. A guy that set the bar high and STILL to this day, he can call Scholes, Neville, Giggs, Beckham et. al. his ‘mates’.

With success and demands, he can’t have been that bad of a guy.

You're describing a leader. If that guy wears an armband or not is entirely meaningless

I would also not take the captaincy away from him right now, as people said, only additional drama for next to no gain. I think though, most of you only look at the matter from one side - I agree with you, leading figures are needed. But I think, the armband marks one of the leaders in a football team. And with us, now it marks Bruno who as many think (me included) isn't ideal in terms of being a leading figure. The perspective, that comes short though is, which implications does the armband have on the player. And with Bruno I always felt, it weighed him down. He had those "I have to force it" periods in games before, but when he became de-facto captain and captain a little later, I felt this had an impact on him. In a video the creator said, maybe it is time to give it to the player in the team who is the least affected by it not who might be the most ideal fit. I think, that is definitely a thought worth thinking. I don't think, the captaincy is as meaningless as some of you are presenting it. While at the same time, it also isn't something, that will change the way we play or what the results are.

Maybe Amorim should wear the captains armband because there's no one else that's really deserving of it in the current squad.

Yes. The senior leader of the team should be the captain. And thereafter, the captaincy should be given given to other leaders.

I agree.

Stadjer said it didn’t matter who the captain was, and you agreed.

Leaders don’t last long if they are undermined by a Captain who does not set the standard and lead by example.

The weak clown would probably throw a hissy fit if he was removed as captain. The delusion as well after being the worst captain we've ever had. Just get him out of the club, he can take the armband with him when he leaves.

Getting pelters on Sky by none other than Tim Sherwood
Dude said he must've had plans over the holidays hence the red card

Yes it should. He is far from captain material. Don't knw if it is even allowed but if it is, we can institute the rule that some NHL teams do in not giving anybody on a team the armband if no worthy player in the squad exists. But I guess the ref will probably need someone on the team to consult with in the games and someone to take the coin toss and stuff.

Stripping a player of the captaincy mid-season just causes unnecessary drama.

so who would it be then?

Would i like a different Captain? Yes, but who would be suitable, there is no leader on the pitch.

If you're going to be a leader, you need to defend your team in everyday possible, you need to lead by example, encourage, gather the team around.

Bruno plays a missed played pass, nothing said or in some occasions he blames a team mate. Someone else does it and he has his hands thrown in the air. Same for shots. He's horrendous. It's why Ronaldo was never captain material.

It needs to be a big game player! But we have none.

One of the many reasons we are so shit. No stand out leaders!
Having a petulant leader like Bruno achieves nothing. Imagine your boss whinging and and throwing a strop every 5 minutes. You'd simply get pissed off and demotivated.

Yeah, 100%. Whilst I'd personally take the approach of giving the armband to the most senior player on a game by game basis, or the first choice goalkeeper, until some day we find ourselves a talisman at least, it's certainly not worth the media attention.

No. He needs to be on a shorter leash though. Those unnecessary fouls and dirty plays can be instructed to be kept minimum. He is over estimating his impact every time he gets the ball and should be told to keep it simple and short. Otherwise he is a fine player.

At the very least, he shouldn't be guaranteed 90 min every time out. Recognize when he's playing like s*** and sub him out. Shouldn't be that hard to spot these days as it's most games.

How as a club, they didn't take into account the players mentality is beyond me.
The amount of times this season, the players first reaction to conceding is to drop the head. Basically like they just know more is to come. Captain Bruno too busy whinging then.
