Loser attitude. I don't get any Utd fans who genuinely thinks this was an option.

I don't mean tanking as in deliberately losing but mainly playing squad and youth players in one or two of the cups. Fergie used to do it with better teams and squads. This squad was never ready to compete on all fronts.

Pride always comes before the fall and I attribute this mess and the lack of goals to not bringing in Greenwood. Even 5 goals by him would have been enough to get us the top 4 and probably progress into the EL semi final. Goals is the problem and Greenwood is the £100m answer that Ten Hag missed.
Absolutely terrible decision to not bring him back into the squad.

But he under utilised the young lads for the CM too, he needed to use kids more.

I don't think Ten Hag rates a lot of our squad honestly. But then he rates Weggy, which even as someone who backs the manager, I must say that's just scary.

The top 4 has been the widest open goal we will ever likely get. Liverpool Chelsea and Spurs have all been woeful.

If we can't get over the line in a season like this then god knows how we will cope next year when you've got to anticipate Chelsea and Liverpool in particular being much better. Spurs may not it remains to be seen what happens with Kane etc.

Finishing 5th or 6th will be a huge disappointment and new owners might get itchy trigger finger who knows.

He clearly doesn’t rate Weggy. He’s dropped him at every opportunity he could once an injured player came back, but Martial and Sancho have both been so useless that he obviously felt like he had to try him again. Luckily after about 53 minutes today he again copped that it’s better to not have him on the pitch.

Not a hope he will be here next season. Sure the club already briefed that to the press.

People actually want Hag sacked? That is insane, yes we are not firing well, yes we have dropped off but without ETH we would be a lot lower in the league. The players he has been left with are so average. We lack ambition, technical ability, football iq in this squad, its hardly the managers fault. He deserves another season and a window to shift the rubbish and bring in something better. A weeks break will do us good.

Losing top 4 from the position we were in is unforgivable - I think we were 15 points ahead of Liverpool at one point. No respectable institution would stand for such incompetence.

Take a team that has no squad depth to it,
-is playing against teams who’ve played 15-20 fewer games than us this season,
- is playing without our two 1st choice CBs,
- is playing out 1st choice LB at CB because of that,
- is playing our 1st choice RB at LB because of this.
- Is playing our 1st choice LW as ST because we don’t have a striker because one is suspended and the other got himself sacked halfway through the season.
- is playing our 1st choice 10 as a winger because other players are injured / out of form

Yeah, all because of managerial incompetence!

No, definitely not. But we need what Rangnick laid bare, an overhaul. We need to ship out loads of players.

I’m seeing the same excuses for ETH that I saw for Mourinho, Ole and Rangnick when they were all completely failing.

If we don’t finish top 4 this season from the position we were in, then it will be a complete and utter collapse. A monumental failure.

Of course he should. Bottling that kind of lead on points isnt acceptable.
We're terrible away. He doesn't change tactics
We've be trashed in many games, he doesn't adjust.
We've scored more goals than just 8 teams this season
He's failed to improve players like Sancho and Donny (who was a given class player when he arrived according to many posters
He's failed this seasons objective
Absolutely fecking ridiculous.
Would you say that if we won both the FA Cup and the League Cup but finished 5th?

You’d also say 4th and 0 silverware would be a disaster/disappointment. So what is it you entitled fans actually want?

No.

It would definitely be knee jerk to sack him.

There is a lot of progress. I think he’s a bright guy and will reflect on his decisions over the summer. Obviously we need some new players, and ETH needs to learn when to stick with particular players and when to say, enough. Some more tactical flexibility maybe.

So, I don’t agree with some of his selections this season ( ok I’m just another armchair manager) but I do think we should stick with him.

Realistically, don’t people think that it was always going to take 2 or 3 seasons to get things sorted? They were such a mess last year. It surprises me that many do not feel that he had at least earned time. Remember, SAF was dodgy in those first few years.

The progress under ETH is clear to see, so what if he bottles 4th place.
The team has been hit with injuries losing your best players at different junctures of the season (Casemiro, Eriksen and now Martinez). It's just the first season and those additions which helped the club get so far up top are now missing, it's understandable that there will be some blips. Utd are still finishing top four even if it is nervy.

it'd be a waste to see him go after one season. The league needs more bald sexy managers apart from guardiola.

Ban you more!
I didn’t say people couldnt have an opinion. I just said that they should be judged and punished for that opinion. Especially if it is a stupid opinion.
”Ban you more” ….ffs

This top 4 has been the biggest gimmie in PL history. If we don't take it it will be incredibly embarrassing.

If we can't get over the line when it's literally fallen in our lap then it's only right to worry about when the others improve which they clearly will.

Let's hope we stumble over the line and this is all forgotten about but if we don't then I can see new owners being a bit trigger happy myself and you couldn't really blame them if we collapse

Having an opportunity does mean we are ready to take said opportunity. Maybe we’re just not good enough yet.
Last season was an utterly miserable shambles so to be in the hunt for CL is a big turn around.

What if we became 5th and lost the FA cup? What then?

The state of this team in a crucial period looks disastrous. And this is a what IF poll. It hasn't happened yet.

It will always be top 4 or sack for me. United not playing in the champions league is unheard of and shouldn't be acceptable. We can't blame the players for being bottlers when the manager bottles it too.

Until Garnacho came back today, it should not have been too much asked for Ten Hag to be innovative in his list of solutions. If you know your senior strikers don't have it, then recall whoever is the best scorer in the youth teams (Joe Hugill if I'm not mistaken). If not, then Rashford should have been pushed towards the centre-forward role for the moment while we look at other options on the left.

Anyway, I want to see a much better integration of the kids into the first team as using their energy could well make the difference between making it or missing out on top 4.

Last season we scored 57 goals in the 38 game campaign despite having Ralf Rangnick for large percentage of it.

We currently have 49 goals in 34 games. This great big turn around has been grossly over egged and probably because we won the league cup.

Theres been some improvement here and there but there has also been some stagnation too.

I'd like to think we have more class than to bring him back.

Errr... not sure this was exactly his decision, setting aside questions about squad/fan/media reactions. The officially briefed line is that MG was suspended by order of senior leadership, so 1 and 2 levels above ETH

Rubbish. Last year we had Ronaldo banging in goals. This year we don’t.
Last year we had the chuckle brothers in defense. This year our defensive unit has looked much improved and has conceded much fewer goals.
Last year our central midfield was McFred and opposing teams ran through us like a streaker through a cup final. This year Casemiro has added steel to our middle.
Last year Marcus was pants and Anto was on loan. This year Marcus is bossing it and Anto has contributed goals when fit too.
We are certainly much improved from last tear.

Questions defo have to be asked, because winning a cup and finishing fifth is what got lvg sacked and most were happy with the decision.

I think of course it shouldnt happen, but if he then is part of the reason ddg signs a new contract, this is almost taking a step forward than two backwards.

It's been a tough decision with the squad being no where near good, and we needed those first two losses to get a few signings. Added to the Maguire captaincy and all
Plus the whole Ronaldo debacle and then only being allowed last minute loan signings as we are broke.
Our horrible away form plus a few smashings are not good.

We need to navigate these remaining home games and ensure we finish top four. It will make a massive difference in what we can do next season (that and getting this bloody ownership thing resolved)

Who is to blame for not having a striker? He booted out Ronaldo to bring in Weghorst. If we didn't have any money to replace him then that's on him. He'd have known that obviously.

Also had he not wasted 85m on Antony we may have been able to sign a competent finisher.

ETH walks on water for some on here and it's OTT. He's done some good things but these last two months we've been shocking and lost a hell of lot of games.

We will probably end up conceding about 45 goals in the league this season. While it is an improvement over last season where we casually shipped 4 goals to whoever wanted to have a go at it, it still a poor record for a team aspiring to play CL football.
