Should Javier Hernandez be content with his current role?

RVP has become so untouchable that he doesn't even get rested...

It was bizarre enough in an 11 game barren spell, Rooney gets stuck on the bench or in midfield, Hernandez can't get a game to save his life. Now we have nothing to play for, still, RVP up front on his own..

Despite the fact that Suarez being banned pretty much means RVP will win the golden boot guaranteed....

Like me :( He certainly does have an addiction to strikers. Why I wouldn't bat an eyelid if we signed Lewandowski.

Hernandez can get better and better aswell....he just needs more gametime. If we signed Lewandowski it would feel slightly like overkill....just another luxury like Berbatov. He is not going to be a player who will settle for the odd start, meaning less gametime for Little Pea.

I want to see him reach his potential with United and not another opportunistic club. Hopefully Ferguson keeps the faith, resists his indulgencies and directs transfer funds into areas that really require it this season.

Same here Comsmit. The rate of improvement in Hernandez's third season is quite promising. Unfortunately, he's not getting enough game time to really build on it. Getting subbed on with a few minutes to go doesn't help. It's like a slap in the face.

No, I think he will and should move to another top club where he can be a regular starter.

He is a top striker, and the sort of player I would have loved to have at Chelsea,( not least so that he couldnt score against us) also he was a total steal.

Could see him fitting in at PSG, Arsenal, or Ateletico is Falcao leaves.

Don't worry mate its only United fans who dont see how good he is we'll sell him and our fans will be glad we sold him too...

Oh come on, 90% of posters in this thread and other threads all agree how badly he's been treated and that he should get more games.

Yeah I was being OTT but it never fails to amaze me that fans of all our main rivals, unanimously, think Chico is a top striker yet half of ours will swear blind he'd find it hard to get into a top team.

Is anyone in this thread saying that?

@TDon. I dont think there is anything contradictory about the same people arguing Hernandez is too limited earlier in the season and then whining now that he doesnt play. Its natural that he is second choice behind RVP in crucial games when it matters. Games like the one today are a totally different case.

He has shown a lot of promise this season. I have been very critical of his link up play in the past but this season he has really improved in that department and he would have deserved to get more than 4 minutes on the pitch today.

Theres a limit to how much any player will accept if they never get chances and games. Hernandez is the perfect sub - he seems happy to play his role and be part of the squad. From all his interviews he seems to love United, he never complains and gets on with his part in the squad whenever he is on the team sheet. Players like that should be rewarded by playing in games like this from the start, not get 4 pointless minutes at the end. I dont believe Hernandez is thinking about leaving just yet, but if we keep treating him like today it could change. Would be a shame to lose such a talented player because we take him for granted.

If I was Hernandez, I'd be fecking rich!

I'd also seriously consider my options in the summer.

Very surprised he didn't start or at least allowed to come on earlier. Feel for him.

IF Rooney is sold I hope we don't go for another striker, I'd really like Chicharito to get more game time up top. RvP would obviously still be ahead of him in the pecking order but I think Kagawa behind Chicharito could be really good. I was hoping to see that in a couple of these last few games.

Chicharito would start for Real, but there's no chance he'd ever be first choice over van Persie.

What annoys me is that SAF takes the piss by benching Chicharito when other players who had not contributed as much this season get a game. Then asking him to go on THAT late is just a complete shafting.

If SAF has any intention of motivating Chicharito foe next season, then I think he's doing the wrong thing.

What a stupid post, no he isn't on Ronaldo's level but he deserves playing time. Fergie is obsessed with playing RVP all the time and wont give Hernandez any decent game time. He should go during the summer for his career sake.

Yeah damn Fergie for being obsessed with playing the best striker in the club, what a cnut

I'm hoping that he stays, and is happy in his current role. While its clear that he doesn't have the ability of RVP, he is a very good striker to have at the club. Plus he is a totally different type of player than all our other strikers, which we need at times for tactical reasons.

I could understand him wanting to leave, as he does have enough ability to warrant playing more than he currently does. Though I can't see him moving to a team like Madrid where is game time will be limited exactly like here. There are plenty of other champions league teams that he would slot into the first eleven, but those teams could possibly be viewed as a step down for him in terms of potential trophys.
