Should I buy my lad a PS3 or an XBOX?

You'll have to refresh my memory, as I can't really remember that Forza 3 was doing things like this at 60fps 1080p?

Can you refresh my memory?

I swear you love the technical aspect of games more than the actual playing of them. That does look fantastic though.

The technical aspects is the only aspect where you can be objective, and almost every 1st party PS3 game is technically superior to their XB360 counterparts. You can't really argue about that.

There's two at 1080p

Need I go on?

You can argue as much as you like, but when it comes to that context, XB360 just doesn't hold up!

Not arguing, just saying I have both and the PS3 overall just does not compare. If you don't like that then that's your problem mate. ;)

Need I go on?

GT5 ain't out and hasn't been out for years, Forza 2 and 3 is here and can be played now, tonight if I wish. Sure the PS3 has some great games too but as I said, owning both, I just feel the Xbox is better. And if GT5 does come out and is just slightly better graphics and nothing else then it will be a let down. These consoles are getting on now, if you just want graphics then surely you get a PC.

 That was retarded.

Pretty sure the xbox didn't rrod though; looked like a disconnected AV cable.

Just stumbled across this thread at a good time.

Sold my PS3 last year as I never played it much anymore (Fifa was a let down, I was bored of COD, and waiting for GT was taking the piss).

I regret selling it now though, I need it to pass time! and really miss playing football games. So I'm about to buy my 5 year old brother a console for Xmas, which will be mine technically, but I'm using this as an excuse hehe!.

I've always been a PS guy, but fancy trying the XBox, plus that Kinect thingy looks good and my brother said he wants it after seeing it advertise on TV. On the other hand, Gran Turismo is about to be released! What do ya reckon?

Yeah, I haven't really looked into 'Move' yet. I'll watch a few videos on YouTube in a sec.

I don't really want to be missing out on GT to be honest. It looks amazing.

feck off nigger its my turn on the Xbox... Niger its my turn on the Xbox. feck you!! My turn on the Xbox!!!

Just don't get cocky GE. I'd say game wise, the PS3 is just about to get in its stride. Developers are starting to full understand its capabilities and brands like EA and Rockstar are going to start porting from the PS3 and not to the PS3.

Even though I do prefer my Xbox to Ps3, I will be getting my lad (11 years of age) a Ps3 for xmas due to not having to pay online and built in wireless). Only problem is I have picked up Ratchet and Clank and Little big Planet so far, but I cannot find any other kids games that he would like. He has a Wii (loves Mario, Zelda and Sonic games) and has never been a fan of disney/pixar games etc... So I am at a loss on what games to buy now and for future birthdays. We are quite strict and he is not allowed play violent games at all.

Any suggestions?

Mod Nation Racers?

It has a bit of violence but only from a Mario Kart sort of perspective. Lots of creativity for players. My 7 year old nephew loved it.

Yeah I forgot about the move, Argos have a deal with the 320GB Ps3 + The Move Starter Kit @ €350. Sounds good to me. Is there a game like Wii sports that comes with the Move kit?

I've seen it offered with two games, yes. A sports one and a shooting one.

You also have the Lego games, etc. Which is why I asked did he want PS3 exclusives, otherwise you can buy them on the XB360. There are loads of games on the PS Store from shooters to platformers. Eyepet apparently is good with Move (maybe he's a bit old for that though). The Sly Cooper collection is about to come out remastered in HD, so it Prince of Persia, ICO, and Shadow of the Collosus. WipEout HD, GT5 (would this be too difficult for him?). What games does he like?

Weaste. You made me spend £200!

Just went to PCWorld and pissed them off no end by getting a £50 discount heh. They're pretty much all sold out now at Sainsburys from what I can tell from some bloke on the website.

So now I have one with no games... what games do people recommend?

Depends what you like, but you can't go wrong with Uncharted and Uncharted 2.

i recommend you take it back and get an xbox ;)

It's all a massive planned slippery cucumber. GT5 and what seems like a price drop both at once. Move and the Blu-ray are only there to allow old men like me to be able to justify the purchase of an expensive car game to the wife - "dear, you can watch your favourite movies in high definition, look at this Move thing, the kids will have hours and hours of fun playing table tennis and training a pet (if you can all get me away from driving that Ferrari Italia 24 hours per day)".

Don't play Uncharted 2 before Drakes Fortune.

Ratchet and Clank (there are three of those - one PSN only)
WipEout HD and the Fury expansion pack - PSN again, don't miss it it's superb.
God of War - I, II, & III
Super Stardust HD - again PSN only.
Wait for Little Big Planet, v2 is out soon.
Killzone 2 - just to gawp at it.
Infamous.
Warhawk - best online fun I've ever had - GB tells me the community is still strong.
Flower - PSN again, totally out of the gap.
Demons Souls - wow, ground breaking RPG game!
Valkyria Chronicles - same but SRPG, stunning.

There's loads of stuff.

I'll second Weaste to make sure you get and play Uncharted 1 before 2. There's no big difference in quality, and in fact many people still think number 1 was better. So for the good of the storyline do 1 first. The only big difference is that you can then play #2 online.

Sorry Weaste, Killzone 2 was utter utter wank considering the hype that sony created around it.

I've heard of the concept behind "Flower" but is it actually any fun?

Whilst many more do!:p Do you genuinely believe that it lived up to its billing? And is Flower actually any fun?

Hurt my wrists after a while of playing it, but a great game and definitely one to buy if you have a PS3.

And i agree about Valkyria Chronicles, great looking game and much more tactical than the usual JRPG fare.
