Serie A and Italian football 2015/2016

Phew. 4-5 in penalty shoot-out. At least we won in a cruel way. That's the only good thing about today.

AC Milan vs Juve in the final then. Can't really look past Juve to win it, unless they have a bad day like today.

That 30 mins of extra time was hilarious. Santon injuring himself taking out Pogba, Pogba's horrible dive, Zaza cropping one of the Inter defenders, Rugani limping on one foot, the referee seemingly blowing full time 30 seconds early and Juve almost scoring from the subsequent attack.

The keepers in the shoot-out were terrible and they showed the goal-line technology on Morata's header which clearly wasn't over the line but didn't bother showing it on Palacio's penalty, which I've still yet to see a replay of.

Juve beat Sassuolo with a peach of goal from Dybala. Sassuolo was the last team to beat us during our worst ever start to Serie A. Since then we have won 18 games and drawn one in Serie A. It's a shame that we failed to beat Bologna and missed out on the record of consecutive wins in Serie A. On the other Hand, Buffon today set a new record of 10 consecutive clean sheets and needs only to survive five minutes in the Turin derby next Weekend to beat the all-time record of minutes without conceding set by Sebastiano Rossi and Milan's legendary 1990s defense. :)

4 minutes gone in the Derby Della Mole in Turin. It's 0-0 which means that Gigi Buffon has set a new all-time Serie A record of consecutive minutes without a goal conceded.

Grande Gigi!

Pogba and Khedira with the 1st half goals, Buffon  hes going to be impossible to replace.
Can't see AC Milan letting go of Donnarumma

Pogba doesn't look right with 'normal hair'. Someone get him an extravagant dip-dyed mohawk again.

Penalty for Torino. Looked like a bad decision. Record run finished :(

There are quite a few talented goalkeepers in Italy. They should find a decent replacement.

Why is Morata not playing? He deserved that much after his performance against Munich.

Edit: I meant why he didn't start.

Max likes the Dybala and Mandzukic partnership more

He hasn't had a great season. His performances are very volatile. There are stretches where he is absolutely magnificent (last year's CL knockout run), but when things do not go well his heads drops quickly. He was great against Bayern and scored twice today, so he might be hitting one of his magnificent runs again which comes at the right time, because Mandzukic has been poor recently.

Serie A - Matchday 31

Yesterday, Juve beat Empoli 1-0 thanks to a Mandzukic goal. The pressure finally got to Napoli as they lost 3-1 at Udinese Calcio and had both Higuain and their coach sent off. Higuain saw red for an incident with the ref and will probably get a suspension of anything from 2+ games. Napoli are now six points behind. I almost feel sorry for them. It must be frustrating to compete with a machine that has a run of 20 wins and 1 draw in their last 21 league games. Almost.

Roma beat Lazio 4-1 in the Derby della Capitale. Totti saw his probably last derby from the bench. Roma are now only four behinds behind Napoli and have build up a cushion of seven points with Fiorentina falling behind in the fight for CL qualifications due to 1-1 draw at home against Sampdoria.

Coppa Italia finalist Milan lost 2-1 at Atalanta and are now six points behind local rivals Inter in their quest for EL qualification. Inter, however, have a game in Hand (ongoing against Torino, currently 1-1).

Inter beat Napoli 2-0 thanks to goals from Icardi and Brozovic to put pressure on Roma in third place. Tomorrow with a win against Palermo Juventus could go nine points clear at the top with five games to go.

It is amazing how Juventus went from chasing Napoli to having a comfortable lead throughout the season. Big respect to their know-how when it comes to winning the Italian league.

The turnaround has been quite amazing. When we lost to Sassuolo on matchday 10 we had 12 points from 10 games and were eleven points behind the top. Since then we've won 22 out of 23 games with one draw and kept 16 clean sheets. I had a lot of faith that we would come back, but I never expected something like this. It must be so frustrating for the other Italian teams to see us have our worst start in history and then come back like this where it feels like it's impossible for us to drop points. No wonder Higuain lost his shit.

The swing of the foot isn't convincing in any way. What a tool.

Didn't know Fiorentina were that desperate for a win.

Totti absolute legend. Especially when reading about the row he has had with Spalletti. Apparantly he came on in the 86th minute with Torino leading 1-2. So he scored two goals and Roma went on to beat them 3-2

Totti

Read some rumours that he talked with Raineri about a potential move to Leicester in the summer, would love to see him in the PL despite his age, just because it's fecking Totti.
What do italian papers say? Only heard that
he has problems with Spaletti.

That was football trolling at its finest by Juve. Let´s see whether Fiorentina has a final answer.

Epic win

Poor Fiorentina. Had a valid goal disallowed, could have had a penalty, then they finally equalise just to concede again straight away, then finally have their penalty and miss, then hit the bar...

Could have lived with a draw to win the title next week at home. Now there is a fair chance that we win the league watching at home if Napoli fail to beat Roma away.

So, Juventus champions for the fifth time in a row after Nainggolan's late goal gives Roma three points against Napoli.

Can't have any complaints, really. They've been fantastic since their shaky start to the season, and the title race would've been over sooner if Higuain wouldn't have had such a stellar year.
