Could we sign him and if Shaw is fit try one of them on the right if AWB doesnt improve offensively?

Isn't he left footed? I have never watched him play apart from YouTube videos but he seemed left footed.

But what about stopping danger right in front of you and your direct opponent?

Edit - apologies for going off topic.

Shaw's very good at that too - he's locked down Salah for the last couple of seasons. But the fact is, full backs need to be able to defend their back posts. AWB is quite poor at it because his positioning is suspect and his heading is shocking, Shaw on the other hand is excellent there.

Don’t have to feck up to not lock down your flank. Watch how much AWB prevents coming in from his side, the desire to stop crosses etc, compared to Shaw and, in fairness, pretty much every other full back in the league.
AWB is the best in the business at it. I'm not sure how that negates what I've said. Shaw is still very good at defending.

Shaw's a much better defender than AWB simply for the fact that he can defend his back post.
Disagree. Shaw is not a good defender at all. Do you remember the Jose Mourinho incident where Jose was saying he had to tell Shaw during the game where to be. Listen it sounds good to have an English player as our left back, but truth be told, Luke Shaw is not defensively good for United. He is good attacking wise but if Sergio is better, then lets get Sergio.

Blimey.

Where to start?

I have no idea where you get those ideas from. Must be a Luke Shaw undercover account. AWB is ten times the better defender.

Shaws an average defender and poor in attacking play. None of the top English or European sides would even look at him.

He can't even get near the England squad which says alot. He's a mid table teams left back these days.

But this is a Reguilon thread.

4 assists is not very good though, that’s the point! Alexander-Arnold had about 15!

Only 2 were actually proper assists too. The other two were simple 5 to 10 yard passes inside where the recipient did all the work.

looks excellent today against Ukraine. Very quick, excellent link up play, and pressing well from what I've seen.

I'm not denying that TAA isn't a much better attacking fullback but its worth noting that Liverpool play a totally different systems at the back. Their full backs and TAA in particular don't have the defensive responsibility due to them playing 2 dcms.

Have you actually read what I was responding to? It wasn't about Reguilon. It was about Shaw. So don't blame me about Reguilon when I was responding to remarks about Shaw. Get a grip lad.

They won't want him because they won't be able to get him.

The way he reacted you have to think he's out at least a month or two with ligament damage. I've twisted my ankle like that before and you usually know straight away you've torn some ligaments.

We can still sign him right? This is incredibly frustrating that he got injured in a meaningless game. Why the hell is UEFA nation league isn't cancelled till Euros?

Only one was like that, the handoff to Greenwood in the Brighton game. Three were crosses from the right to a striker in the middle.

Is this going to be like when SAF signed Evra, despite already have Heinze in the team?

What does it mean for Laird?

TAA is a freak that very few FB's can compare with. The best RB in the league pre TAA was Kyle Walker, take a look at the most amount of assists he's ever managed in a single season...

Damn the agenda is strong here

Shaw is not defensively good for United? What? Do you even watch the games?

He is solid defensively and very good in the 1st and 2nd third of the pitch in terms of transition play, he lacks in the final third however.
His biggest issue is his propensity to get injured.

Some people are confusing AWB being a good 1 on 1 defender and him being a great defender overall. He has awful positioning and reading of the game which lead to him failing to defend his back post more often than not. He also can't head the ball. The Sevilla defeat practically exposed all of AWB weaknesses and it was an ugly sight to.

AWS will look like the most competent player out there when we're under the coach, playing deep and defending in numbers, that way when he gets his 1 on 1 moments he looks good and shine but beyond that he's very average to downright mediocre in most things else.

Shaw is a better defender than AWB, understand and read the game far better and is actually comfortable with a football at his feet which helps us build from the back with him in the side.

Just have to laugh at factually wrong posts. I am not Shaw’s biggest fan, on the contrary actually, but this is silly. He is a good defender, he has focus and awareness, watches the lines.... nothing wrong with his defending. Well, you say is not good at all, which is what I would say about Mustafi. On the other hand you say he is good attacking-wise, which means you obviously think he’s better at attacking than defending, which opposes the view of pretty much all fans and stats. I think Shaw’s average going forward, not a lot of output, not able to contribute in all types of games.

So are you still sticking to your opinion or are you talking about a different player? Honestly intrigued.

What does it mean for Laird?

Laird is able to cover LB & RB I think but would be third choice behind Williams on the right and behind at least Shaw on the left

Lots of guys who follow our youth team are red hot keen on Laird. I’ve heard he is comparable level talent to Greenwood. If he is that good, he needs at least 15 games next year to continue his development.

I’m not worried because under Ole, I’d young players are good enough they will get their chance. Also assuming Dalot is also being sold.

I guess having 3 options on both sides is a good thing for 3 games a week for 8 monyus
