I thought we were discussing why Ramos wanting to join a better club sorry
Ronaldo's minders stopped the interview _ I don't know why. Ronaldo says to his rep, why do we have to stop - it just makes me look bad when you do that. A shame really, next question was probably about Bale.:D

If he said that, he's a bit of a knob cause his petulance to the Ramos question already made him look like one :)

We're at the point where it would be best for everyone if Ramos would just feck of to Manchester. Even if he stay, he's not the same person in the eyes of the fans and in the locker room any more. The damage has been done.

As for De Gea, I really don't care. I'd like to see Navas get a chance first and if he fails, we can have De Gea next summer.

I hope you're not the only one thinking that. And in that case, please make yourself heard! Maybe Dave will then realize that he should stay where he is.

I very much doubt that Ramos sincerely wants to join United. He feels a bit underappreciated at Madrid and acts emotionally. I'm sure he wants to stay there though and won't move to another club.

We brought the guy after a good season with Levante and amazing world cup performance to have him sit on the bench. Doesn't make sense. He deserves a chance to start, even though De Gea looks like the better player.

Sergio Ramos' potential Man United transfer means Cristiano Ronaldo could become Real Madrid captain next season.

Regardless of if we get Ramos or not id say its been a very successful tactic for De Gea negotiations.

"I am not negotiating with anyone," he told Canal Cuatro, when asked how negotiations were going. He was subsequently asked if he would therefore be staying with Rafa Benitez's side, to which he simply replied: "All is very well."

So he stays, atleast we keep De Gea for a bit...

Yep so long as we don't neglect signing someone like Otamendi in the process and miss out on Ramos as well. So far think Woody's played a blinder.

United don't have permission to negotiate with him, therefore he wouldn't be negotiating with us. Logically, that means he isn't negotiating a renewal with Madrid either. Of course he'd say "All is very well" publicly, what choice does he have? For the record, I'm not convinced he'll move but I just don't think you can read much into those statements. He has two more seasons on his contract so if he doesn't leave this summer, I doubt he ever will; that is not until Madrid have used him, chewed him up and then spat him back out.

I'm beginning to think that Ramos will stay at Madrid, and De Gea will stay with us.
Or Madrid will have to pay megabucks for De Gea. Thing is, Van Gaal won't want to leave it to late to find another keeper, so Madrid need to get their wallet out soon.

come on guys, hes clearly using his own club in such a way that could possibly get him a better wage deal with us! Right?

Although I would love Ramos here but it simply doesn't make sense in terms of the cost.

He would cost upwards of £30 m and we have to pay another £8 m as wages. Even if he has a good 4 years left in the tank, this comes to £15.5 m on a player who is only willing to come here as he is out of options. Having won everything there is, I also doubt he will be able to give it his all in the later years of his career for a foreign team.

Madrid is not going to sell him at 30 or 35mil. They don't want to sell, they want him in their starting line-up, he's still got two years on his contract. He's throwing a tantrum because his pay has been far exceeded by a number of his team mates. He has no love for United, and just wants more $$ to match his status at Real, which IS the club he loves.

This deal is not going to happen. My only fear is that we're getting sucked in sufficiently that we might miss out on other more viable CB targets.

Do you expect him to admit tapping up in public? We wouldn't be bidding him for him if there wasn't an agreement with him in place.

Never say never, it looks like he's pissed at RM right now and genuinely wants to leave. He has achieved everything there and probably wants a new challenge. Also, his father was a United fan and Sergio has said a lot of positive things about United in the past.

If he genuinely wants to leave, there's not much RM can do about it other than getting as much Euro as possible. One cannot simply keep a player who wants to leave.

This is sure, it's all a comedy, like Daniel Alves.

He's pissed of at the club hierarchy for not offering the improved contract he feels he deserves. He's not pissed off at the club itself. If they find a way to appease him, it'll all be fine and dandy again.

And even in the unlikely event that things fall apart, Real has the right to ask for whatever transfer fee they want, its not as though the contract is running out. It's going to be a hell of a lot more than we're willing to pay.

If I was Madrid, I'd keep Navas for a year, get DDG in summer for £0 and have an extra £30m or so to spend

That is a very dangerous game to play. Benitez may lose his job by then, they might have a very bad year. The conflict at RM along with the highly lucrative contract on offer might turn DDGs head.

Also, I don't think anyone would mind if DDG goes to RM next year for free. We would have a year to find his replacement and would have strengthened our reputation in the market as well.

Navas is fecked. Injured in the Copa.

Currently they have a crock and a has been who's particularly pissed off that his employer has been trying to replace him all summer. At some point you'd think they will relent and pay what they have to.

And we should tell them to feck off if that moment is in August and not July.

1 - They want De Gea from us
2 - Ramos supposedly only wants to join us.

It would be a lot better for them if Ramos wanted to go anywhere, that would have risen the price.

It's beneficial for Madrid to quickly finish off the De Gea transfer. Which is good for us, because the longer we hold out, the more money we'll get.

Agree with most of that, but it won't be Benitez choice..

Possibly, or buy someone like Begovic on the cheap for the interim.

I understand that, but surely you aren't naive enough to believe RM will think about whats best for their player, rather than themselves? They can sell him to PSG/City I'd imagine for a good £40/50m knowing City, they'd pay that to stop him coming to us, and should they offer him more money, I doubt he'd refuse as he wants to play for us, RM are his team.

His offer from us is already pretty high for a CB id imagine, if City were to pay more then it would be close to the best paid player in the league. I dont know if City can do that. But yes, this whole thing hinges on how stubborn Madrid and Ramos want to be.

They are facing the same three window transfer ban as Barca for the same breaches. If that happens as expected then De Gea would not be allowed to play for them if he signed for a full season.
Apparently, their violations are a bit different from Barca and the expectation is that they won't be punished at all.

Even if they are, they'd appeal, and almost certainly be able to buy players in the summer window next season.

Fair point, I was more trying to make out that I don't believe Ramos will openly defy RM and refuse to go to Bayern, Chelsea, City, PSG as he is set on us.. If RM want DDG this season, then I think they will be forced to deal with us, but I don't see Ramos or DDG moving this summer.

Navas didn't play in the copa?

DDG staying is a win too. We will definitely buy a CB like otamendi and hopefully a good RB. Plus de gea staying can change things a lot. Plus with Benitez in charge real aren't going to win anything much.

Yes indeed - Woodwards great win for the summer would be to keep De Gea somehow, and make it look like it was Madrids fault. Woody can just tell De Gea that he wanted to facilitate the Move but Madrid didnt want him enough.
