I have to admit I'm well and truly thinking this is so SergiON that I don't think I can handle him renewing at Madrid.

You need to make this happen Woodward. Give Southampton what they want for Schneiderlin too whilst we're at it.

I was distraught when the transfer deadline day deal for Herrera failed to go through.

If we don't land Ramos and Schneiderlin now, I will be equally devastated.

Two players who'd make a huge difference to the spine of our team - we wouldn't be a soft touch anymore.

I'm still unsure what actually happened with the Herrera deal first time round. It was, I agree a total let down. I totally agree that if we don't sign these two and don't get adequate alternatives I may have a complete meltdown situation to contend with. We'll maybe be able to table a couple of cheeky bids for Osman and Jagielka at the end of the window if all else fails so no worries.

That deadline day was a dark moment.

No Herrera and the realisation that we'd pissed around for the entire Summer only to sign Fellaini for £4m more than his buyout clause.

In retrospect, it was so bad it was hilarious.

Little did you know Woodie and Moyesie had prepared a majestic surprise for you right before the transfer window closed... fellaini and for only 3 million over his release clause!!

My piss was boiling - took me until around 2am to get to sleep.

Fast forward a year and it was muppet paradise with Falcao. Granted, the deal didn't work out, but it was still electrifying.

Neither Ramos nor his brother are brilliant minds. They tried to get a better contract and it may backfire.

They even offered Ramos' name as a new signing to Barcelona presidential candidates in exchange for 1m.

That story about him being offered to Barca is so stupidly unbelievable. He has 2 years left on his contract, he cannot transfer without Madrid sanctioning it. And Madrid wont ever sanction a vice captain to go to Barcelona. The only other way for him to transfer would be if Barcelona paid his release clause, €200m!

It also mirrors the Rooney contract saga a few years back. Both parties pretending to be severing all ties and then panic sets in, next day contract is signed!

Tbf we forced Rooney to stay, and then he had to prove himself worthy of the new contract that he then signed after Christmas, we just told him to forget it and Chelsea to get stuffed.

This Ramos stuff just screams agenda from his side, and we are been used I don't think that is even in question, but if RM don't take the bait and offer him a new deal he might just go through with it imo, upping the anti to a point where he has to leave, so we'll end up with a player who doesn't really want to be here.

Not sure it's all too healthy for us or Madrid all this, but if we ultimately get £35 m + for DDG, or a top RM player, then it's job done

@Mali_Zeus @3rdCarter @JPRouve in no particular order t. silva, boateng, hummels, godin, chiellini, terry, howedes, kompany, garay, barzagli (provided injury problems of this season are a fluke), marquinhos, otamendi, pique. I'm not saying these guys are MILES better, but i think they're more complete footballers or on the cusp of being so than ramos.
I bolded the most silly ones. Especially Barazgli. Barzagli better than Ramos?
Garay, Marquinhos.. Heck, I bolded them I dont need to repeat them...

Hummels is marginal, has been totally out of form for a while. Kompany hasnt been great either.

Why do people get so touchy about a player 'not wanting to be here'. Ronaldo didnt want to be here in 08/09 but he sure as didnt look like it when he was running the length of the pitch to score against Arsenal.

Covered all your bases there. You're going to be right anyhow.:D

Barzagli is fantastic and better than several names listed. Ramos is a more complete footballer though and more valuable as a whole.

The story is true. Even the most madridista press in Spain gives it credibility. Ramos never intended to move to Barcelona, he simply offered his name only and to a very unlikely presidential winner. They were just trying to get an improved contract with madrid using a presidential candidate, just like they are doing now with the transfer to united.

But I think this may backfire bad. Madrid's closest mouthpieces have already lashed against Ramos.

We need to forget that romantic notion about players dying to play for us and stuff.
Or wanting to play for us and similar.
We cant have 11 or more players, all of them wanting to play for us or their dream being they played for us one day.

But thats what I mean, Its so stupid it beggars belief that someone in his camp thought it would work.

@King Kendrick Your list is a joke mate. Your main argument is they are more complete footballers? Really? I think Ramos is more complete than any of them. He isnt maybe the best defender of the bunch.

Best thing is Höwedes a more complete player than Ramos :lol::lol: Höwedes is an average defender that nobody wants to buy for 10m and you are comparing him to one of the best defenders in the last 5 years. One of Ramos' main strength is that he is pretty complete, as complete a CB as you can get today. @Mali_Zeus highlighetd the players that are miles off anyway, Barzagli :nono: Bonucci deserved to be in that list.

I just think you put the players that you like or had success with in FM. Or an obvious WUM.

His brother, the agent angling for a better deal? SSN and the BBC who have said Gundogen and numerous others were signing and didnt? If you buy into all of that stuff mate then you are in for a long transfer window.

If you don't buy into BBC and SSN then you might as well not take part in transfer discussions and just wait for the final squad to be unveiled. This is a very strong transfer rumor.

Exactly.

I'm really not fussed if we sign him or not but I really hope Woodwood keeps trolling Real Madrid until the end of the window. They deserve to be given a little run around.

Anyone care to speculate on whether van Gaal see Ramos as a RB or CB?

Who do people prefer out of Ramos & Otamendi?

Because if you do get Ramos, Real will probably end up getting Otamendi

Has he signed a bumper new contract yet then?

No, but one of the muppet masters on El Chiringuito just claimed that Bayern Munich have spoken to Ramos and are willing to beat Madrid's pay offer and more or less match ours.

The Spanish press as a whole are completely clueless about what's going on, except that something is and Perez is worried.

If he ends up staying do you think he'll get abuse from Real Madrid fans?
