Give the #1 spot to Lindegaard, at least he is loyal to club and a decent set of hands
Taibi was significantly higher rated than Romero when we signed him. Bodes well...
Taibi was a bigger name at club level but not an international level. Romero is Argentina's no 1 keeper.
I have mixed feelings about the guy. He hasn't got the CV to be at United. Having said that LVG knows him well. Romero was in fact his no 1 keeper at AZ and he's on a free. Who knows maybe Romero don't mind the bench too much which is rare for a keeper these days
You're not supposed to be excited by signing a number two keeper though, are you?Couldn't be less enthusiastic about him. Both Lindegaard and Johnstone are better than him.
A bit Taibi signing this.

If its better than what you have, it should be exciting enough
When its a dodgy keeper its more worrying than anything
I don't get this at all. How many f-ing keepers do we need?
Especially if we already have Lindegaard, Valdes and Johnstone. I'd rather keep Lindegaard. Just don't see the pointYou're not supposed to be excited by signing a number two keeper though, are you?

Agreed. Let's see how it pans out for him if he does come. Taibi got like what? 4 games.
I'm sure its been asked in the thread - but why was he released by Sampadoria? Not good enough...?
Especially as he's the Argentinian keeper. Surely he needs to play in that case? It is really confusing. It makes no sense why an international goalie, especially one playing for a team like Argentina would sign on knowing fully well he'd be second choice here.
He hasn't been released, his contract was finished.
In which case, was he ever offered a new contract at Samp and he merely rejected it to move on to better things?
This is me genuinely asking now not trying to call him shit. I'm just always skeptical with players who are free agents.

He was backup keeper at Sampdoria. Now backup keeper at United. Guess he doesnt need to play to keep his spot. He has a chance also to grab the position here. Cillessen isnt unbeatable. For him it makes absolute sense to move.
He's just not good enough. As our no.1, we really need to have a top goalkeeperLindegaard was first choice when he came here too. That didnt work out very well for him

I've heard he was 3rd choice for Sampdoria? Is this true

Begovic is the #1 for Bosnia and he's just given up on being a first choice club keeper for the foreseeable future.
It's odd but not unheard of.
Why do Brazil and Argentina have such poor goalkeepers?

Seems weird that it takes a couple of weeks to sign a back up keeper who is available on a free.
