Sergej Milinkovic Savic

Give Munich £70-80m for Thiago and Vidal, both available.

Get Bonucci, £25m or Chiellini on a free transfer

Rondon, £16m. Would be a good back up target man. PL experienced. 1 in 4 for West Brom. Heart like a lion. Better player than RL.

1 of Bale £90-100m, Malcom £40m, Rodrygo £44m

State of this post.

Not sure what Abramovich is going to do with Chelsea, but this looks like a transfer they would get involved in. Not sure Mourinho has the space in the team to sign and use him.

4 world class midfielders isn't bad to have if you are committed to playing with 3 in midfield. With Pogba and Matic already established, it would give time to both Fred and Savic to bed in if they are rotated in a midfield for a season. City ruled the league with two technically adept midfielders to counter pressure, we kind of have to do the same if we want to be more positive in our play on the ball.

Rondon is a better player than Lukaku? :wenger: Tell me everything he is better at please?

I don’t even know why I’m entertaining you with a reply.

I meant to say target man. He is a better target man. Here is why;

His hold up play and first touch is better than Lukaku`s.
He is also better aerially than Lukaku.
He makes runs to the near post unlike Lukaku who doesnt like to use his right foot and avoids the front post like its contagious when we attack down the right.
His movement is also superior to the reactionary Lukaku.

It`s the style of striker Jose likes. He complained about the lack of physical presence upfront against Chelsea in the cup final.
Rondon is a good player and would be a good back up at a bargain price. There are not many forwards who fit the required profile. Mandzukic has been mentioned but he is 32 and hasn't played in the PL before.

Lukaku is the superior player. I'm not sure how anyone can suggest otherwise.

I think he is a one dimensional lump who we over paid for.

I would go as far as to say he is the worst starting CF I have seen in 36 years watching United

Well he's scored more goals than Forlan for starters.

We will have to disagree on your assessment sadly. I've been impressed with him this season.

Possible the worst statement on the Caf in 36 years?

Crazy to think that Lazio want 100M euro for M-S when Bayern bought Tolisso from Lyon for 40M last summer (a record fee for them).

Lukaku has more goals in PL than Rondon but Rondon is PL experienced? Cant you see how much wrong your logic were?

Has to be a WUM.

It’s worse than a wum, its the type of poster who makes ridiculously hysterical statements to try to make a point that could be made with a little balance and reasoning.

I honestly can't believe we (the newspapers at least) are talking about 100-150m for Sergej without any reactions on how much money that is for a player that 90% have never seen play or even knew about 6 months ago.

Yesterday was meeting between Lazio president Lotito, and Juventus sport director Marotta in Rome. Medias in Italy report that they were talking about Sergej M. Savic and that they found some reach of agreement, because there is no way that juventus will pay 100+ milions, but some players which are interested for lazio could be included in deal (pjaca, sturaro, rugani, or twice of them) plus some cash. There is also one big circumstances that both of them "dig war axes" and sit on table to negotiate. In past they had few almost physical attacks between them. Pictures are available on calciomercato and on main page of Turin Tuttosport. I would put but I don t have 5 post or something like that.

It's what the papers say so no guarantee that it's true. It could easily be figures from Lazio putting out there to push up the price or the news outlets selling papers or clicks on the internet. If you believed the reports before we signed Pogba the numbers were as high as 125m and we would have to pay Riola 20m which cause hysteria on here.

90% of who, the cafe? That shouldn't really be any kind of yard stick on whether we a sign a player or for what amount when someone on here who would argue Rondon is better than Lukaku.

There are only 2 things that matter when signing a player, does the manager/scouts think the player will improve the team and does the the board think we can afford it.

Everyone can have an opinion on if they rate a player, even if it's based on seeing them play 30 seconds or from Football Manager but one thing is most certain the board are only interested in making money and if they think it is within budget then so be it.

We're not scouts, we're not involved in the decision making process at United and our awareness of a target is totally irrelevant.

You can react if you like. It won't change anything one way or another.

Keep this thread on topic and stop veering into discussions about Lukaku, Forlan etc

This is sort of like Belotti a summer ago. Italians have a way of talking up the price to get the name out there.

They usually end up nowhere. Same with that Felipe Anderson guy.

My only worry at the moment is what would we do if Pogba was injured, assuming Jose wants to play with a three man midfield? Who would step in for him as the advanced 8?

Buying Savic, in effect, would be killing two birds with one stone, as he could play the box to box role, but then also come in for Pogba if/when needed, leaving us with the following options:

Advanced 8 - Pogba/Savic
Box to box - Fred/Savic/Herrera
Holding - Matic/Fred/McTomimay

That said, as I have said before, instead of splashing out big money on Savic, why couldn't we use Jesse Lingard as cover for Pogba - a player who is more than capable of playing the advanced role?

Advanced 8 - Pogba/Lingard
Box to box - Fred/Herrera/McTominay
Holding midfielder - Matic/Herrera/Fred

Were Pogba and Savic to play in the same midfield wouldn’t Pogba play the box to box role and Savic the advanced no.8 or a no.10 role?

If I had to choose someone to play the more defensively disciplined role from those two I'd choose SMS, simply because Pogba isn't someone to be relied upon. SMS looks like a player who would follow his managers instructions.

This is a facepalm post, double facepalm that.

He seems like a strong holding midfielder who can win headers/tackle/position himself well and find good passes. I don't think him playing in an advanced role at Lazio changes that. The only question is, does he have the defensive discipline to play behind Pogba? We also need to keep in mind that Matic usually fades out in the second half of the season, and that he might start declining soon. SMS is 23, and could be a long term investment.

100m+ seems excessive, however.

We might as well utilize Rashford or Martial as backup strikers if Rondon is the alternative.

Is this the same lunatic running with the “Rondon is better than Lukaku” bullshit? If so, why isn’t he banned?:wenger:

Because he is bloody hilarious and this isn’t RAWk where you ban people if you don’t agree with them.

If he has made other WUM posts then I’m sure the mods will pick up on it.

I realize that, and it was more tongue in cheek comment. Although sometimes reading posters like that one I wish it was more like RAWK

If Lazio get Sturaro, Rugani and say £30m for SMS, that would be a solid deal for them.
