SECOND NPOWER TEST, TRENT BRIDGE, ENGLAND vs INDIA

BAD LIGHT STOPPED PLAY

Highly unlikely they will be back out for a few minutes of play.

England 198 v India 254-3

Tendulkar & Ganguly in at the moment.

Not a bad day's play for India.

Good stuff. Morning session would be crucial though, can't afford to lose more than two wickets. I hope Dhoni gets a going a bit, could he see him really thumping English attack on this pitch

I expect Sachin to get a biggie....Ganguly will totter around a bit and then make his way back tomorrow.450 looks good....we should be aiming for 550 or so if we want a victory though.

Dhoni coming out to bat when its 550 for 6 or something tomorrow will be fantastic.

That's too optimistic to say the least. I would be happy with 400. Plenty of time to get a result even if England cross the lead mark in their second innings

I knew it would go tits up the time I start the sodding match thread :(

Mind you, as long as we keep them within 150, early enough yet for the pitch to play fair, if we actually bother to put an innings together, make 350-400, it'll set a nice little target that.

Perhaps the rain will make up for fecking up the first test yet...

If the going is good I'm willing to dream.I never thought they'd end the end 50 runs to the good and with 7 wickets in hand!

I think you will reach just under 450 anything above that will need a really big partnership. I just think England will come back and bowl better tomorrow.

From India's point of view I would aim at nothing less than 450 as this could mean you may not have to bat again on the pitch. No doubt there will be rain at some points in this match to come so you don't want to run out of time. I'm sure England will manage a larger score than first time around, unless of course they get there customary collapse going again.

That was a one off :D , never going to happen again

We need to do bat at least two sessions tomorrow, anything less than that would give the advantage away.

A 300 run lead on the cards. Got to bat all day tomorrow. Everything I've predicted so far for this game has come true including bowling changes. We'll win this one on the 5th day morning session. And you can quote me on that.

MSD is gonna kill the english attack ..

350 runs today .. and we can declare first thing tomorrow morning ..

hopefully bowl them out by lunch ...

Dhoni has one good innings and suddenly is gonna kill our attack again lol from what iv'e seen of him he not the world beater most claim him to be and comparisons with k.p are a little over the top good player though. From my observation of yesterdays play the england attack didnt offer anything new and the pitch looked flat with good conditions,i.e ball wasn't doing anything apart from irregular bounce at some points.Very poor batting from the england batsmen some disgraceful shots was like they were playing for a declaration im sure they must have known it was the first innings and given the weather forcast might have been wiser to just stay in instead of throwing the game and advantage away so early. These things happen though like a domino effect you see one batsmen struggle so automatically have the mindset the pitch is doing too much.Only hope for england is the weather but even then a lead of around 250 will be enough for india given the usual inconsistencies in bounce at trent bridge going into the last days of play.anything around 200 or less england may fancy their chances of saving the game but even that is a daunting total when batsmen can't trust the pitch only pieterson and cook fill me with much confidence in such conditions.

Bugger...

Amazing really, you'd expect the English batsmen would've been better suited to green-tops. It's all well and good to score centuries on flat tracks, but another on pitches which offer lateral movement. Back in 70's and 80's, uncovered pitches were the norm. . . in the current era, pitches are relativity flat, which along with OD cricket has helped Test teams to score around 4 an over. No way, would you have been able to do that even 20 years ago. Whether they're just dashers or are simply technically inept, fact remains most of them would've been found out pre-90s.

Gays.

Strauss is woefully out of touch and low in confidence. He needs to go back to bread and butter cricket.

To be fair, he's arguably the best umpire on the ICC panel.

He's usually pretty reliable...but that Dravid decision at Lords and now this...what the feck?

It's a shame for him as he was close to a test century but oh well these decisions happen from time to time it's part of the game ain't it.. At least it wasn't a match turning decision. India are perfectly set up here on 378-4. Should aim to bat the whole day and make a big enough lead so they can just finish the game off and don't have to bat again.
