It's hyperbole on both spectrums. I find it funny that for all the talk on the cafe about Jovic, I have not once seen a single word about Haller...and they played alongside each other! And now after a single link and video everyone has a grand opinion. I really am starting to think most of the cafe watches only the Premier League and then jumps behind whatever foreign flavor of the month they see in papers.

Actually, just remembering many a post along the lines of 'didnt watch United today but man so and so was awful. ...based on others. '. What a complicated species we are.

We are that.

But truly I dont believe I am exaggerating in my comparison to Carrol-Fellaini. He is a big physical target man who seems to be able to bring the ball down and link play well, and as a striker looks to have good heading ability. But thats the limit of what I saw and that also happens to be the limit of Fellaini and Carrol.

Haller has been mentioned quite a few times, mostly in the Bundesliga thread I think.

I imagine he doesn't get brought up in transfer threads often because anyone who mentions any relative unknown like him or Milik is immediately heckled down by posters who demand we sign Icardi or have opinions like this...

Thing is, Haller doesn't need to be prolific if he can provide through his general play and bringing others into play. Like how Firmino is utilised for Liverpool.

We have Martial & Rashford who are suited to playing off a central striker. They're not going anywhere.

We require a central presence we can rely on upfront. Comfortable with his back to goal. Strong in the air. Solid first touch. Solid link-up.

If Haller has those qualities, then I'm all for it.

To be fair, I was joking about Crouch myself earlier. But really I think it'll be hard to gage until he's in the league. The big man profile does more often mean a limited player. If he's more complete than that, then he'd be a very good option

That's really what I was thinking. Most of these opinions and like you say, laughing off of players from snobs comes from folks watching maybe just a highlight reel.

Good one. He looks just ok and I love discovering new players (though I had heard of him and watched him before). And I am not demanding the signing of another specific player.

But as I said he looks a young target man who can bring the ball down and link up play. If that is what we want/need. Personally I don't see it but then I dont know what Ole's tactic are. He might want a foil for Martial.

He would if he's clever
Not just Martial, Rashford would benefit too, he's not a central striker yet.

His attributes seem pretty clear unless his highlights video is very badly constructed. I am not sure why one would take my comparision badly. He has some skill and vision to hold up the ball and link play. Also good at heading. Comparisons to Zlatan though are outrageous. Again I am not saying he is a bad player and might fit into a system well.

Why wait until Jovic has been sold to register interest in the player.

Is it likely the club will sell two of their most prized front men in one window ? This is absolute stupidity.
Or just completely untrue.

We must be aiming for a mid-table if this the caliber of player we’re consider as a replacement for Lukaku. Why not get Icardi or better yet surround Lukaku with wingers that can actually cross the ball and provide opportunities. Seems a lot of us are in the grass is greener mindset and are in for a rude awakening.

Icardi?

Why do people want another cancer in the dressing room? His missus will probably have a go at the manager as soon as he ain’t player too. We don’t need his shit here.

Don't think anyone said he is as good as Zlatan. It's his height, technical ability, backheel flicks, scissor kick all is Zlatanesque. He looks quick too and Frankfurt plays with intensity and he didn't have any problem playing that system.

So you want a guy who has scored less career goals then Lukaku in a worse league? Lukaku over Haller any day. No disrespect to Haller.

I understand that it is a style comparison. Like saying Lonstaff plays like Carrick. Or Rice like Keane.

Physique wise there are similarities. But one bicycle kick and and some neat hold up play does not earn you a Zlatan comparison. They are not similar. Similar would be dribbling past players for fun, smashing in long range rockets, and doing outrageous skill all over the pitch. In terms of overheads and scissor kicks that is just the normal way Zlatan scores goals.

I mean its like saying Rashford is similar to Cristiano because he also does step overs and is fast.

Remember that links in the press do not equate to the club registering an interest, it could all be rubbish or you could have approached the club/agent weeks ago and it is just leaking now.

No it's not like that. It's like saying Rashford free kick taking style is similar to Ronaldo's.

If player does everything then would have said he is as good as Zlatan.

Overhead kicks is normal way of scoring goals for Zlatan? This Mythical Zlatan is GOAT and shits on Messi, shame the reality isnt close to that.

Yes overheads and scissors are fairly run of the mill of Zlatan. He has scored countless in his career and other acrobatic goals.

I will say again there is NOTHING similar between Zlatan and Haller. I am not trying to crap on Haller but they arent even styistically similar in the way they play.

Do not compare lambs to Lions (sorry couldn't help myself).

Zlatan should've just simply headed a host of chances in instead of going for that elaborate kung-fu shit so often but whatever it looks good for the camera doesn't it. One of the thickest, most self-absorbed and overrated players of all-time.

Players like Saha and Haller who keep it simple rather than wasting possession and chances repeatedly doing stupid shit are far more valuable to overall team play.

Flame me all you want. It is truth.

I see him similar to Zlatan in his link up play, flicks, technical ability for a tall pkayer not as good obviously. Style of play doesn't mean they are as good. Arnautovic is also similar to Zlatan in his style of play and again not as good.

Btw he isn't lion. More like oversized Cat. Cat is bit harsh, something like a cub maybe.

I was just going to post that a CF who offers great qualities in the buildup would be a great asset as Firmino has been at Liverpool. Just seen a clip of this fellow. Seems very strong but also technical and crestive. Could be someone the likes of Martial and Rashforf thrive alongside.

But he has to be that good. He don't want an Arnautovic level striker.

Yeah, for a tall and strong player he looks good technically and hold up play looks very good.

He reminds me of Kanoute a bit. An underrated player when he was in England.

Well we can agree that he has good technical ability for a taller player and that is a broad similarity. However I think their style of play is extremely different. Zlatan has a very unique mercurial way of playing which was extremely ostentatious. Actually not the best or most consistent link man. Haller seems to actually be much better at the simple fundamentals of teamplay and plays both conservatively, consistently and with pleasant technicality. So he seems to have more of the game of a refined 10 with the heading ability of a big striker.

None of these things I would say about Zlatan who never felt the need or had the temperament to develop his game in such a way.

Is he like Giroud? Can win headers but also has good technique and link up play.

I bet you loved van Gaal.

Would make way too much sense so cannot see.it happen.

I doubt anyone at the club knows he exists tbh.

Sounds like the player Jose should have signed instead of Lukaku. Appears to have a lot of attributes that Jose was looking for in Lukaku. I will never understand why we signed him and expected him to be a striker who can play with his back to goal.
If Lukaku does leave I’m pretty certain we’d be in the market for another striker.

I don't think he can lead the line. He has been playing behind Jovic all season and that was his best role, always on the ball and creating with his hold up play while also going in and scoring goals. A very good player but I don't think he's a number 9 we need.

He'l need a lot of movement in front of him like he had with Jovic and Rebic. Depends on the system we have in place but I'm not quite certain on him. Play him alongside Martial and Rashford on both sides and then I think he can be a great addition.

More I think about it, more I think he can be a good signing :D

Makes sense from Ole's perspective, boot out the recognised goalscorer Lukaku and replace him with someone who would probably be alright with being a squad player. The starting striker spot is now clear for his Rashy.

Wow... When did recruiting talented players become rocket science? Seriously though, we are tracking players like Haller. I mean he looks mediocre to me. Why not get Felix and play him behind our two wide forwards.... And I propose getting Pepe to be our RF..... We need to stop emulating every single thing what SAF did in the past and need to move on. We should get wing backs that could provide us the necessary width.

Interesting player. Never seen before the videos, remember the Norwich/Everton links and a friend who watches Bundesliga says he’s not got enough for us.
However, lots in those videos that Lukaku could only dream of. Lukaku really is an embarrassment to professional footballers with his technical ability for someone who trains every day and has been a pro since mid-teens. Maybe my expectations have fallen so far because of him but happy to give many strikers a go if it means we get rid of him. They can’t be as bad.

Yes I agree that now It's clear that Ole's each managerial decision is based on rashford. I've heard multiple reports saying that we've went a proposal to change the name of the club to Marcus Rashford FC too.

Seriously though give your head a wobble.
