He’s right though.

Sarri might be a bit of a div but he didn't play him as an attacking mid because he's shite on the ball. He's good, he's just wasted there because his defensive game is his strongest suit.

So if we aren't in for him or tielemans or Fernandes then what are we doing in the market to bolster our midfield?

Probably giving Pogba a new contract.

Sorry, but with 5 weeks of the window to go, and the absolutely ideal situation to bond new players in on a long trip to Oz/Asia, we’ve brought just AWB in as a potential starter. Think we’ll end up flashing silly money around as we enter panic mode near the end of the window. Either that or we are throwing Ole under the bus. Reports said we started planning for this window 6 months ago at least, guess it should have said we are preparing to start planning to prepare a plan.

He’s a very good DM but when he has to play further forward his limitations are badly exposed. Look how no one talked about him last season because he was pretty shite when he had to do actual footballing things. He’s brilliant at what he does but I feel it’s his engine and tenacity that’s won him all his plaudits and not really his actual ability.

I am just hoping we are not judging players on the fact James had a good game against City and same with Longstaff. That happens. It does not mean they are potential world beaters. It might just have meant City had a couple of off games. This is the team that won the domestic treble. It just seems a bit lazy and I sincerely hope we are actually or have done some proper scouting.
Yeah, they just saw the games against city and thought 'alright then, we'll have them'.

That's pretty much exactly what I said but with a different conclusion. I never said he's Iniesta reborn, I said he's quite good on the ball hence why he didn't look like a fish out of water as an AM even if he didn't stand out. My original point was that he's leagues ahead of Schneiderlin when it comes to footballing which is why he's a great box to box ball winner and Schneiderlin is not.

I haven't seen enough of Longstaff. Is he better CDM than Ndidi, Rice and Neves?

Bit of negativity about this guy but I really liked the look of him in the couple of Newcastle matches I watched.

Has the ability to control the tempo of the game with both his short and long passing, and shields the ball really well. For 30m or under we should definitely be snapping him up.

He will be fine if he is capable to improve and develop without our help or not let our influence have impact on his development.

We’re at preparation stage again, a bid will probably follow in a few weeks with how long it takes us to prepare.
I think we've probably engaged in dialogue with Newcastle over the last few days and we've got an indication of what price they want for him. Now we have to prepare how much adds ons we include in the bid which will probably be rejected.

How can we be preparing a bid when we haven't got news about United thinking about preparing a bid.

Doesn't make any sense.

Which is exactly what I would expect Newcastle to ask for tbh.
How can they sell Perez to Leicester for 40m, and ask 50m for Longstaff? Perez has been a regular for a few seasons now, and Longstaff has barely played for half a season.

I'm calling bull. They just sold a far more proven player in Perez for £30m, and apparently the initial fee is substantially less than that too.

Perez was sold for £30m and he was their top goal scorer the last two seasons.

Tielemans is available for £40m.

He is not worth more than 30m. Take it or leave it, even English tax + Man United and Newcastle desperation doesnt get over 30m. feck off with 50m+

Apart from anything there's no way Ashley holds out for that kind of money if he can get his grubby hands on a quick £25m.

Newcastle are not gonna weaken their position at the negotiating table. They've leaked the £50m figure very deliberately tbf and will want to get as much money as possible from the sale. He's actually rated very highly amongst the Magpies coaching staff and club in general from what I was told when Mason Greenwood and the u23 team travelled to Newcastle at the tail end of last season.

Think we'll get him for between £20m to £30m. Newcastle are predictably posturing.

Hope we’re not fecking about with this. If we’d offered £10m four weeks ago Newcastle probably wouldn’t have known what to say.

Now they’ll try and take the utter piss.
