There's no way we're going to sell him after selling Fred ? It'll be fecking ridiculous. Are we going to bet the entire season on Mount succeeding in the midfield role ?

We still would IF West Ham return to table

Paqueta is suspected in a gambling fix case now.
West Ham is trying to get Kudus for 35-40m£.

I doubt they're back for Scott.

All the space that Casemiro was being asked to cover last week was insane, with McTominay next to him I think it would have worked far more smoothly though. He always asserts himself on the opposing mids

When asked about McT, Erik started praising Mainoo. When Mainoo comes back, McT will be 6th choice. If we buy new mc then he is 7th choice
If we don't sell him now his market value will drop like a stone.
Yeah that’s true.

EtH will always try to use his available squad to best possible effect. When we have injuries and before we recruit another, of course EtH wants McT fit and of course he’ll use him in case of need. That’s just pragmatic and it’s as complimentary as I can be about McT.

The sooner he leaves the better imo.

If we sell McTominay we will obviously buy another midfielder. The idea is that the new guy will then be significantly better (or at least significantly more suited to what the team needs) than Scott is.

Significantly more suited will do

It was a huge mistake not selling, he isn’t good enough by how much people can argue as much as they like. But he’s not trusted, the manager doesn’t want him, wants him sold and until he goes we can’t bring other players in, the lack of structure and plan at the club should be incomprehensible but just used to it by now.

His biggest value is not as our 5th choice midfield, some height at end of the game it’s 30m of pure FFP profit.

He is 6th choice when Mainoo comes back.

How could we have not sold him for at least 30 and brought in amrabat? I get the ffp issues with maguire sale but this was cutting nose off to spite your face stupid

My midfield against Forrest would be Casemiro-McTominay-Bruno.

It will honestly make the world of different.

The less mctominay plays the better he gets with some on here. He's another poor player that has been here too long and will be difficult to shift.

Think it is more if he is still here and we have a clear tactical and system issue that he may be able to help with then use him. Would have done a straight swap with Cas today after 55 mins, guy couldn't run and was turning like me.

It's weird though then, did we buy mount for nothing? I always like to think ETH is a football maestro who has a plan beyond what we observe. Hopefully when Hojlund is back it all fits !

The hilarious thing is we probably have to play him in the next game if he doesn't get sold. That's how lacking structure we are. We probably need to go back to a guy that doesn't have technical ability for Man United and had one leg out of the door just to get some running power into the team. He's not even especially good at sitting in deep but it is better than what are currently see. You have to laugh or you'd cry.

McTominay out and Onana 2 in,don't give a toss about Rio's dumb comparison to Fellaini

I posted about it in another thread but I think right now we can all agree it's not working with both Mount and Bruno in there.

That's fine and maybe it just needs some more time, maybe it's something that worked for Ten Hag as a theory but won't in practice and Mount becomes backup. Either way is fine, I'm not going to fume at Ten Hag but right now we need points on the board and he showed last season after 2 games that he can be pragmatic when he needs to be.

It does feel a bit flattening but right now I think bringing in McTominay or Eriksen (or a new signing) is our best shot at winning those points. There is no rush with Mount.

I hope West Ham get absolutely battered today in the hope they cough up the money for Maguire and McTominay.

Same people who defend Maguire and McTominey as “good squad options” won’t even question themselves when we are 5th at Christmas “hopeful of top 4”

The two things are directly related and I would rather have City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle bench than ours. It is shite and it will cap whatever we are capable of until it’s not.

These two staying has defined the summer and potentially robbed us of players that would make a real difference. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Neither of them suit us and no point having them here but I think it’s a bit unfair to lump them together. McT is slightly more useful to us than Maguire. Selling McT would be great for FFP though so shame West Ham fell through

They’ve moved on to other players already, signed a new CB, signed JWP and close to getting Kudus. That ship has sailed so they’ll both be here for another season at least.

So I'm a little confused by that McTominay remark. Seems to imply that Mount being injured may change McT's fate... The logical inference being the Scotsman perhaps being needed to slot in for the absent Mount ?

So I guess McT was on his way out ? But no one we know of really approached United since that unaccepted West Ham bid ?

Maybe just a bit of journalistic flourish.

Probably told him he can move if he wants to play week in, week out as he won't get that here, in which he agreed. This injury changes everything.

Shouldn’t change anything we should still sell him and buy a better player…Oh wait nobody has come back in to bid the £45m we (and only we) value him at.

Him staying and Mount injury is irrelevant to the fact we need another midfielder. Incompetence by the club so far, let’s see if they see the light in the next 9 days.

Knew we would regret not selling him, now he is our first midfield option off the bench, this club is in such a shambles.

Our club is such a shambles that even some of our fan base actually consider him a good option. Apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree and all that.

Maximum of 8 apparently, if he's needed for those 8, that's a big chunk of this season. This is providing Mount doesn't have any setbacks.
I see where you are coming from but McT would need to compete with Mount upon return, Mainoo upon return and probably a midfielder who is likely going to be an ETH favourite

If we don't sign anyone, I'm almost wanting to see McT play instead of Mount. That being said, we still need to try and sell and replace with Amrabat or someone of that ilk.
