No we don’t. He sometimes plays centre half for Scotland against shite teams, and has scored a few goals recently in a more advanced position (one he is nowhere near good enough to play here at United).
Why would they be? He's a top 6 team player and until recently we were a top 4-6 team since standards slipped.
We are wanting to be title challengers again so a team like Newcastle or West Ham would suite him

Rice is an excellent defensive midfielder irrespective of what system he plays in. McTominay is not.
He (Rice) was good for England too and he's still young, McT is honestly an engine that can grab a few goals but he needs someone next to him IMO.
I think when you sell a player like Rice you have to change your style a bit, because it's not always easy to go like for like.
You sell a player like that at £105m because there aren't many of them, you can't just go and buy another.
West Ham have a Declan Rice shaped hole in their midfield and more than £100 million burning a hole in their pocket. If they want him, they can afford to pay up.
Similar to Grealish sale, you can use that money to improve your squad in general.
Villa are arguably better now without Grealish, Liverpool were without Coutinho and West Ham can be without Rice too.
I think in today's environment Scott is absolutely worth 35-40 for a club such as West Ham. Some of the dislike he's gotten on here continues to baffle me. I remember people singing his praises for quite a while. To me he is a model player who embodies a United spirit to want to win. Limited for where we want to go, but still miles better than the majority of what else walks around out there.

5 mil for being a United academy player
5 mil for being Scottish + home grown + still young-ish
5 mil for playing like Zidane twice every season
5 mil for running and working hard
5 mil for shooting
5 mil for heading
5 mil for defending set pieces
5 mil for getting away at times with fouling due to his innocent looking baby face

No one player is bigger than the club. If he is then you've got a serious problem - see Kane at Spurs or Mbappe at PSG.
What? When was he fast? He’s decent in terms of top speed but slow in terms of acceleration. No more than average at best. Not great in the air. Not great at outmuscling opponents and certainly not great stamina.
He does look athletic - I’ll give him that, and he’s not in a poor physical condition at all, but athletic? No. No speed, no agility, no real strength, no stamina, no leap. Average at most things physical especially for his size.

He’s big, but he’s not great in battling opponents. Casemiro is much stronger in a tackle. Fellaini was great at it, and I wouldn’t argue any of them are particularly athletic, although Casemiro also looks the part.
His engine isn’t anything to write home about. Fred is the quicker of the two and the one who runs around more. Fellaini actually also had a better engine come to think of it - slower though

In terms of athletic big players, Rio, Ibra, VVD, Haaland etc come to mind.

Clearly the lad has a great engine, plenty of pundits and pros have mentioned it and there’s an interview with SAF comparing him to Fletch and taking about his “great stamina”.
There’s also a bunch of videos of him smashing players in tackles and he never loses a foot race.
If he’s technically not good (and he clearly isn’t), is slow, not strong, and doesn’t have great stamina…. How the feck has he started so many games Internationally and under multiple Manchester United managers?

Of course they are not against it, only 2/3years ago remember, this site frequently stated that McTominay is jsut as good if not better than Rice, so they are getting a better player and banking £60-65m......
Being sarcastic, I disagree. We ahave been pretty much a top six team for the last few years and he hasnt excelled here for any perfiod of time. Never understood why a succession of managers seemed to speak so highly of him, he comes across as a good professional so there is that side....very rarely has he came across as a good player though. Poor positioning, passing, intelligence....never been good enough to wear the shirt and even in todays market, would be very surprised if anybody pays the fees mentioned, lke nobody is likely to be payin gthem for Gallagher who he is weirdly beign comapred to.
I think Maguire will actually be a good signing for sides in the way you mention and to a lesser extent Fred. I genuinely think McTominay is just a good squad player at most good premier sides
If we sell McTominay for c.35M and Fred for c.20M, this will be our most sensible window, certainly for outgoings, in a decade at least
McT for 30 and Fred for 20 would be excellent. McT is pure profit and he isn’t getting any better as a footballer. Talk of 40+ million with one club interested is nonsense and just the club trying to bring up the fee.

If it's true that Galatasaray is in for Fred then no way are we getting 20, I'm pretty sure that would be a record signing and we are not getting that for a 30 year old midfielder with a year left.
It was the quoted price when Fulham were interested, who now have Mitrovic money and an injured Palhinha. So there is every chance we could get that for a player of his quality.

I'll be very excited to have him gone. By the end I couldn't take watching him hide from the ball when we built up from the back. It wasn't as bad when we played deeper on the counter in Oleball because he'd just run around with Fred, but in a team looking to constructively build against a press he's unbelievably cowardly and it did my head in.
The reason why it makes sense for West Ham particularly is because they already start the same player - Soucek. In Mctominay they get a better version of Soucek, younger, and what they badly needed last season - midfield depth for Rice and Soucek.
For most other teams, Mctominay for £40m doesn't make sense, but for West Ham he's a great fit. If they want him they should pay up, for £30m I'd rather we keep him as a depth option as he has shown he can be very useful for us.

I believe that Southampton have only this week rejected a £40 million bid from Liverpool for Lavia. The point is that good players don't come cheap, and McTominay is a good player. He's still young enough at 26 and has bags of Premier League experience behind him. £40 million is actually a fair price in today's market.
I get what you mean, but isn’t that we trying to buy Amrabat for 20m to replace Mctominay something? Or all our fans wants Lavia for under 50m to replace Mctominay? For that price I am sure there are plenty of better options around.
