He played well today but at some point we are going to start needing to control games in midfield and he just doesn't do enough on the ball for that.

He's becoming the defensive destroyer people were clamoring we needed. There's a certain give and take with him now, because his partnership with Eriksen is clear, as his relationship with the backline.

He's still a walking yellow card, but there's no denying he's at the heart of the fight and the team is defending very well from front to back.

Excellent last couple of games. One of the best performers.

I'll will also give Eriksen credit for that. He is such a clever player to play with. Silent leader.

Agreed with that. He seems to be playing much better with Erikson operating ahead of him rather than him and Fred both trying to do the same job.

Agreed, he lets mctom just get on with destroying things
And he also doesn’t sit on top of him like Fred used to do

you’d get mctom getting it off awb, Fred would be 5cm away from him, so Bruno would come and get the ball but now we’d only have a 36yr old striker up top to play it to

now mctom wins the ball, Eriksen is in space, Bruno a further 20 yards up the pitch. Finally we can make old Trafford a big pitch again
You are correct. Lets see how we can fit Casemiro in there. Because right now, if we are being honest, McTominay should not be put on the bench. Right now, we have good balance there and McTominay is one of the best performers.

That is brilliant, people will probably jump on a raggy touch after Ronnie put him in trouble but he did what he had to for the team. Don't care about the yellow cards as long as he uses them in situations like that.

Yeah agreed. He's also one you can trust to see out a game on a yellow without getting another. Feels like he gets a yellow every game but hasn't ever been sent off for us IIRC.

Adding Casemiro in the competition for the places in CM really have helped McTominey to find the form he had 2 seasons ago. Was playing very good against Liverpool and Leicester but today he was a monster. Covered so much ground and if he didn't win the ball, he didn't let the Arsenal CMs breath for a second. He is helping the defense a lot right now and is big factor on why Martinez and Varane can play so high up the field and press the opponents strikers. Just wish that at least one of him or Casemiro would have Eriksens passing abilities, it would be match made in heaven. Right now i think that we should go with McTominey/Eriksen and Casemiro/Fred - Casemiro is good passer, better then what many believes, he just didn't need to use it that much playing with Modric and Kroos.

He was very good. Kudos to him, turned it around after the Brighton debacle.

He had a great game and his performances recently have been much better. Doesn't worry me as much as he used to and he's a useful addition in that midfield. He has a particular set of skills...

Deserves praise after the previous noshows. Perfect game and tempo to the game for a player like him to get a good game.

Interestingly some weirdos are on Casemiro's back after one bad pass but not even mention the terrible misskick Scott had near the end of the game which gave Arsenal chance to score. People should understand that having 100% passing accuracy is impossible for a midfielder and not getting on the back of a player because of that.

Love it when a player makes me eat my words. Had genuinely written him off. How wrong I was. He seems to be getting better and better and better.
I always thought he would be a brilliant player untill last year I thought he has lost it but now under a good coach he is looking better by the week long may it continue

He was good again today - probably his best performance of the lot. I still can't help but get the feeling that he never actually wants the ball though!

Stepped up massively today. Dare I say… the new Darren Fletcher?

No, he has a long way to go before he can even be considered.

For the time being he's still the new Tim from Terminator 2

I hope he can gain confidence from last few games and continue delivering solid performances.

ETH must have been feeding him well.

I think some of his weaknesses showed when he was pressed in midfield, but overall he added a lot to our performance. And not just today, but the last 4 games.

I wonder what the team looks like when Casemiro is settled? We don't score any of those goals today without Eriksen, but McTominay has certain qualities that make him a huge asset in these games.

Perhaps against the big teams we'll see a 3 of Eriksen, McTominay and Casemiro, with the front 3 depending on opposition.

Either way, it seems like he's saved his skin with these recent performances, because it was the lows of the low at the start of the season - not just for him mind you, but all the squad.

Both Scott and cameo from Fred show how their use when used properly. They def offer something to the team….

Very good. I thought he was a terrible footballer but shows how important a system is

He's been immense since the start of the season (well maybe if we dont 1st two games which didnt happen:D). Defensively he's everything where needs to be and what I like about him he really puts the boot in wherever and whenever needed. Today he cut their counter expert level when Jesus hit the ground with his head. Took the ball cleanly, perfectly.
Also what I noticed he's braver with his passes now, no more only side and back passes, he's passing forward and looks assured while doing it. It seems ETH is doing him a world of good and he feels more assured of his qualities. Onwards and upwards!

Hes been doing a great job recently. And consistently. He'll have his uses even if Casemiro will probably take his place soon enough. Cant argue that he doesn't deserve to start ahead of him at the moment which is pretty shocking.

He didn’t start against Brentford so that particular low had nothing to do with him.
Came on in the second half and had a mare. Kicked two simple passes out over the touchline and made little impact. Was v poor against Brighton too.

Not bashing, moreso stating that I'm happy ETH has found a way to use him and he's now recovered from a low point to being right in contention for that starting 11.

First game in a long time I thought he actually had a sense of when to sprint backwards and deal with a dangerous midfielder between the lines. Had a very strong game defensively.

Great first half but did he touch the ball in the second half?

He is playing well, but we have no control of the midfield with him playing.

Great first half but did he touch the ball in the second half?
Yes.
Broke play up constantly too.

United played very much on the counter in the second half so his on the ball influence would be of a lesser degree.

Not his biggest fan by any means but he's playing well last few games. Won the ball back well and even played a few forward passes today which was great to see.

He is playing well, but we have no control of the midfield with him playing.

If this manager wants control he’ll swap Casemiro in within the next few weeks. As long as we are scoring so well as we are from plays starting from our defensive positions, I’m not sure having that control is something he’ll chase tbh. The ceiling for the team is higher with Casemiro long term for sure but whilst points are being racked up…why risk implementing that change just yet.

Excellent performance. Got stuck into Jesus too, proper shithousery. Gonna clock 5 yellows in record time though.
