McTominay played a ridiculous progressive pass to Ronaldo today. Seems to have gone under the radar. Ronaldo should have done better with it. I think he did well after being out for a few weeks. Surprised he played the 90.

He’s essential to the midfield. Anyone who thinks otherwise is daft.

For the balance of the team, how we play, with our personnel now McSauce is at par as Shaw in the hierarchy of importance.
Without Shaw and McSauce we collapse to a new low

He’s going to be Darren Fletcher, both evolved to different level in 24/25 years old. 3 very good game in his last 3 matches where he started for us.

Considering that this Scotty’s was first action in quite a while, he put in a pretty decent performance. Poor on the play that resulted in the goal conceded, however.

With Fred's form being quite off along with the fact that he really almost never wins a physical challenge, think it has to be Scott once fully fit that starts along side Pogba as a more holding player. Today though I thought his layoff really showed and probably should have been the one that came off.

He is slower to move the ball along than Fred but, tends to make better progressive passes when he does try. It's good to have him back and hopefully can stay fit from here on out.

Scott McTominay of my favourite players in the squad and he is certainly in my preferred starting eleven, as he has been for several seasons now.

I like his passion, work rate and attitude.

Buying a specialized 6 and playing Scott McTominay as a box to box 8 should be a priority, as that is his best position.

Him and Fred should be rotated with Matic and Vdb this season in order to keep them all fresh for the most important games.

Matic and Vdb are easily good enough for most games, especially when Pogba is on the left as well, as that is almost like having an extra midfielder rather than a left winger or left forward.

His passing at times was just terrible then he passed a couple of line breaking passes that shocked me(in a good wat)
Aside from that, i dont think he did well in protecting the defense.

Big fan of his. Today wasn’t his best game and coming back from injury, but he was decent. If we had a Carrick type to put next to him then it would be a quality midfield.

He still hides in midfield which is never a good thing. Needs to be more confident in his own ability.

Probably my biggest gripe with him.

I wish he showed for the ball more.

His progressive passing has gotten better since his debut.

His passing between the lines is so crucial to our midfield. More often than not it was Scott swiftly moving the ball from defence to attack with a well-spotted pass straight upfield. He also rarely drops the notorious clangers of the likes of Fred. He still leaves a bit to be desired defensively, but I still can't wait for him to get back to full fitness.

It's no coincidence the best performance of the season comes with him back in the team, even though he himself had an average performance. So important for that bit of midfield solidity.

Good performance. His passing gets underrated because it's usually low risk. But that's what you want with Bruno playing low percentage balls ahead of him. He's obviously capable of breaking the lines when needed.

Also, the idea that his positioning is bad is out-dated. The guy has international experience of playing at CB. His positioning has been decent since at least the start of last season.

One thing I like about him is his build makes him more difficult to dispossess and he can hold off players unlike Fred who shits the bed whenever pressed. Made such a difference seeing somebody who was physically able in our midfield and also someone who tried to play progressively throughout.

When he returned from a injury lay-off last season over a groin issue, his first match back was really tentative and he only had 43 touches in 90 minutes (Leicester 2 - 2 United)

Considering this was a slightly longer lay-off, I was really pleased with how much more confident and involved he was (72 touches).

Definitely rusty - but also some superb play (the through ball for Ronaldo - that tackle right at the end of the game on the edge of the area). Was properly encouraging seeing him berating his teammates for failing to quicken the tempo.

That pass to Ronaldo was so fecking good. The vision, precision, weight of the pass was spot on. Wish Ronnie had taken it with his left, he could scored or squared it to Mason for an easy tap in.

My Man of the Match at West Ham. I'm sure others will go to more obvious places but one save - however late and however important - doesn't change that for me. Scot was immense both defensively and going forward. This guy could be huge for us given the right circumstances and if he gets to play alongside some of the greats in the world (shame he's Scottish!) . Of course, it could all go horribly wrong but he does seem to be more a Scholes character (quiet) and less of a Blingard!

He was good yesterday. The one thing I really noticed was his passing forward, he was making those passes into our forwards alot more. Hope he carries on like this.

I thought McTominay plateaued in the end last season after a couple of years of getting a lot better quite quickly. His problem is consistency. He can pass, he can shoot, he can tackle, but none of them entirely reliably. The ratio of hits to misses is just a little low. But I thought he was really good yesterday and we might find that he's ready to kick on this year.

I agree with Roy Keane's take on him in that he not quite at the required consistent standard yet for Club a like us but there is potential in him to get better and become an important player for us, the best we have in there right now.

Scotty isn't a Carrick or a Matic that takes the ball and give breaking defense lines passes.
But I do expect from him to take the ball from our back line and pass it forward like he did against West ham.

The heart on his kid. Nearly knocked out cold but still tries to clear the ball right after.

Yea that was very brave, there was a tackle he made in the second half around 75-80min of the game can't recall, we had lost possession and we were under threat from the counter attack, he made a side tackle right on the D outside the area that was perfectly timed tackle i thought. I'm so glad he's back.

I think that tackle was almost at the end of game.

He's the reason Ole didn't try for a midfielder as he understood the available ones out there weren't much of an upgrade on McSauce. People thought he was shit but as soon as he's been out we couldn't cope with Southampton and Wolves midfield. Nicky Butt also said Declan Rice wasn;t an upgrade on McTominay and I suspect that's a conversation he's had with Ole seeing how long they worked together.

I don't think he is good enough if we play with three forwards, Pogba and Bruno.

Man Utd 0:1 Aston Villa
Downright diabolical.

Imagine being a midfielder who can't get involved in the game.
