Should be the first player replaced.
He was very poor, not sure what's the point of him playing. Doesn't show up for the ball, very negative in his play. Dalot even asked him to make the run when he had huge space ahead and McT just stayed back for throw in.
I hope De Beek gets chance instead of him and biggest hope is, he shouldn't be clubbed together with Fred.
32 passes for Scott today. Fred managed 72...
Honestly, what does Scott do all game? He does feck all.
If that formation continues DVDB is a non starter in the deeper 2. Are we going to ask Fred to sit so Donny can go forward, especially after seeing how much better Fred is with freedom. Donny as the deepest midfielder, surely everyone sees that as insane?
Why not, its not as if McT is offering something in that position.
Horrible numbers. Particularly bad given the amount of possession we had today.
Player | Mins | Passes | Passes Per Min |
---|---|---|---|
Donny van de Beek | 5 | 6 | 1.20 |
Harry Maguire | 90 | 72 | 0.80 |
Fred | 90 | 71 | 0.79 |
Alex Telles | 90 | 63 | 0.70 |
Jadon Sancho | 61 | 40 | 0.66 |
Bruno Fernandes | 85 | 54 | 0.64 |
Victor Lindelöf | 90 | 49 | 0.54 |
Mason Greenwood | 29 | 14 | 0.48 |
Diogo Dalot | 90 | 43 | 0.48 |
Anthony Elanga | 15 | 7 | 0.47 |
Cristiano Ronaldo | 90 | 37 | 0.41 |
Scott McTominay | 90 | 32 | 0.36 |
Marcus Rashford | 75 | 24 | 0.32 |
David de Gea | 90 | 15 | 0.17 |
You know what, I hope RR does it, so then when it is a disaster people will stop asking for it.
The more likely pick is for Fred to sit, to protect Donny and see how that works.
Honestly that's an absurd stat. A midfielder should be the heart and system of a team. He should have the most impact on the game, yet this proves what we all know about McT. He's absolutely invisible. Fred makes often mistakes and such, but you can never say he is hiding or whatever. McTominay is... I don't know. I honestly do not understand why Ole kept him startng games for so long. At this point I'd be giving Mejbri a shot, let alone DVB.Ronaldo was getting the ball more often that Scott today in a game where we had 61.2% of possession. This isn't a one off either, happens pretty much every game. I don't actually see him improving, his goals that were useful have dried up too.

You can possibly forgive our forwards not getting the ball as much, but our defensive midfielder?
He might be starting in defense line. As already pointed by some poster, he doesn't even play in midfield for Scotland. Not sure if he'll even be a starter for Norwich. Just dreadful all around and offers us nothing.

That was dalot. He even tried to blame himMaybe the first casualty of RR's reign, was tearing my hair when he needed to make a slightly forward pass to our player, he delayed, allowed a Palace player to closed the channel, he then passed it outside the field.
He's a squad player wearing the 25 shirt or something - nothing wrong with it we need squad players who can fill in but he's never gonna develop to be a starter despite me hoping he would.I don't really want to be part of a pile in on the lad, as he seems an affable chap who always works hard for the team. He really just isn't talented enough to play for a club like United, though. It's not his fault and he is trying, but he's just woefully short.
No doubt. I hope RR gets that tooHe was terrible today, worse than the last few games and should move on the bench for VdB imo.
How is it possible for him to always end up chasing players from behind when he's almost always facing them face front at the start of any play?
Even someone like Kleberson would be an upgrade.
No point changing Fred's position. He is arguably best player in last 4 games playing with more freedom.
He might be starting in defense line. As already pointed by some poster, he doesn't even play in midfield for Scotland.
The initial discussion was about if McTominay would start for Norwich. Surely he's not starting in defense for United. I'd sooner see Lindelof at DM.he is too slow to play in defence in the way RR wants to play. He is much slower than even Maguire.
Why? I think that Donny would be pretty good as deep lying midfielderYes. We need to improve on Scott but Donny in deep midfield is not the answer.
That happens when you’re 6’4 and and got two left feet.Annoying how often he just bundles into players and fouls them.
32 passes in 90 minutes from a midfielder is not good enough when the team has 60% of the ball. As someone said, hard to see some standout quality that McTominay brings so you start him regularly. As a squad option, yes.Ronaldo was getting the ball more often that Scott today in a game where we had 61.2% of possession. This isn't a one off either, happens pretty much every game. I don't actually see him improving, his goals that were useful have dried up too.
