Very mature performance once again. Did just what the team needed, covered for players, blocked the passing lanes and kept it simple.

Matic's form seems to have picked since he came into the team too, hopefully he keeps it going.

From one day to another. Jesus christ.
I say it how it is you white knight.

He was shite against Palace and rightly got subbed, he was very good today.

I stand by the fact that if he has to attack he's poor, but he does a good defensive job.

He certainly seems to like the big games.

I'm still not certain about him in the smaller games. Not sure if he brings enough to the table to play alongside Matic in those matches, as I feel we need someone a bit more dominant at controlling the team around. Of course, perhaps the option there is for him to replace Matic in some of those games in the short-term, and in the longer-term grow into that role fulltime. I don't think he's played without Matic yet, has he?

7th start in a row!

One day, A.Pereira's stupid loan will be remembered because it allowed McTominay to shine.

I remember the Huddersfield game in the league where he started over Pogba. I thought it was the rotation option to keep our players fresh ahead of the CL, FA cup and big league matches coming up...

Who knew he'd be starting almost all our big matches since then.

I'm not convinced Pereira is a midfielder to be honest. Or even somene Jose would have trusted to play the role McTominay does.

I heard the groan when he went backwards in the 2nd half but like JM said it was the right option, too many times we gave possession away cheaply in the 2nd half. The moans about rashford was that people in the ground mightn't have spotted the 4 incidences in the 1st half that could have resulted in a red.

is this about the groaning from the fans when he passed it back once in the 2nd half? That really annoyed me as well especially given he had no options in front of him pass it.

Yeah I agree and I groaned when I heard the moans. His only option was a thump down wing and we had a couple of bodies out of position. Thought he was right to recycle the ball.

Yeah I was surprised he stayed on as long as he did. None of the fouls were particularly maliscious but have seen bookings been given for every one of them

Again all this thing, when there's where Mourinho actually played A.Pereira, as #8 and even #6, and he even complained he's being playing in Valencia out of position. Also, McTominay was playing as a forward in the U23s, so…

Excellent again today. What impresses me the most about McTominay is how well he handles the big games. Un-fazed and always focused.

Really really impressed with him today. He was good in the last few matches, but this was the best of the lot. He and Matic were great together.

Yeah, quite surprising his worst showing was Palace away, where he seemed lost.

Not convinced by him and if I'm honest I'm still not.

However, my word....he was superb today.

He had no options in front of him. What did you want him to do? He made the right choice.

Apparently I can't read. Whoops.

He was excellent today. Great composure against a very high and aggressive press.

You actually have the nerve to dig in here? That's astonishing. Get a grip.
Lol get over it you muppet, I can have my opinion. He was shit last game and good this game, why is that a problem?

I've not been impressed with him in total, but today he showed why he gets in the team. Let's see if he can kick on and learn to attack next.

Those groans when players ignore a forward option to chose a side pass aren't going away, and they shouldn't, even when unjustified. That Roy Keane quote comes to mind. Urging players to take risks and play the ball forward is one aspect of United culture that I think is great. Just ignore it when it's unjustified, don't have to get angry over fan culture, it can only spur players to play ambitiously

I thought he was great today, but no better than he has been in other matches. Extremely consistent bar Palace.

Mourinho's right.

I'm on board with the McTominay's train. The advantage of young player playing with more experience player (Matic). His noticeable traits are his positioning is very good, and good composure when having the ball.

And surprisingly for his age, he's very good in using his physical body to his advantage when tackling or shielding the ball.

Groaned when he correctly chose to pass it backwards as there was nothing really on. Match going fans not really watching the game.
What the... he did enough forward passes today. Sheesh some fans. Effective football - make correct decisions, right passes at times back or side ways etc. Forward passes every single time can easily concede possession.

He can be our new 'spoiler'. Similar to Darren Fletcher. Will be very important for us in the future.
I don't get the spoiler part. Is it.. doing the often unappreciative works, follows instructions and support everyone silently?

Edit: Can't see how in any way it's akin to 'spoiler'. Not really an important qs, just curiosity.

He's right.
That's not what I was getting at. I clearly said McTominay's decisions were justified but it's futile getting angry with it (the groans). We also already know they are going to scream 'shoooot' everytime someone picks the ball within 25 yards of goal. It's fan culture you have to ignore and not a bad one at that

I love the caf....one bad game....useless! Championship player. Sell him. Donkey idiot. One week later....best player in the world! Next 300 mill player. Madrid will be in for him now.
Had a good game though

Pre-season. Mourinho played A. Pereira mostly as both #8 and #6 but in midfield of three formation, and some moments as wingers. Big indication he sees him as midfielder.

No one said any of that (except you).

Jose's eyes seemed to light up when he started talking about McTominay in the BBC post match interview. He absolutely loves him. Kind of feel that part of it is a big two fingers to the people who said he doesn't give youth a chance.

I love the caf. Posters making stuff up and making a fool of themselves

I don't agree with your opinion (about everything he's shown so far). And I think your first post was shit (not because you're criticizing him). But I was being a bit too dramatic here. Moving on.
