We're playing against a team that are camped in their own half. Surely creativity is what we need? His job is not there to make "creative" passes.

There are a lot of people who pre-judge based on his nationality and what videogames tell them.
McTominay's a very progressive player.
What's revealing is the number of posters who bring up his size. The kid might well be tall, but he's a streak of piss right now. He has relatively little upper body strength and gets targetted for roughing up quite a bit. The reason he's in the side is not to do with how big he is. It's because of his technique and passing.
His job is shielding the back four, and providing outlet to more creative players. Is it Pogba's job?Is he not playing in Pogba's place?
Yes. That's why we have Mata, Sanchez, Lingard, and to certain extent Matic. We should have enough creativity there. You shouldn't need your DM to be creative player against fecking Huddersfield. What happened to Herrera?
Scott's done alright. Playing in a double pivot with no width to pass to and front players with little movement.
He's doing his defensive work, recycling the ball whilst mindful to keep it going forward at a decent pace.

He's made more passes than anyone else on the pitch: 56.
Of those, 40 have been forward passes. Very impressive stats.

A lot of people are so obsessed with his lumbering style that they fail to pick up all the good stuff he does.
And Jose Mourinho, two times Champions League winner.Thats so wrong. If on these performances he played for Stoke, there is not a single person that would be posting to sign him up.....expect maybe you.
He’s so bad man lol
Holds his position well but he is not the level that we require to play in CM.
Which is Matic's job.His job is shielding the back four, and providing outlet to more creative players. Is it Pogba's job?
Which 21 year old CMs are better than him in the league? Just out of curiosity, who can we compare him with?
Yeh. His passing is pretty good and measured also. Reminds me of young Carrick. This kid is very good. I like him.
Like most players: the sort of performance that would be widely slated if we had lost. Now that we have won, and most people are not too angry
Like most players: the sort of performance that would be widely slated if we had lost. Now that we have won, and most people are not too angry, this thread will be largely positive.
I mean, it was a reasonable performance irrespective. He's not good enough to be starting for us, I doubt he ever will be and he shouldn't have been playing ahead of Pogba. But other than that (sorry), he has some good qualities that will serve him well going forward.
That's McTom's job in this game.Which is Matic's job.
What has he done that's so "bad"? He's connecting his passes, making himself available, pressing correctly. He's no flair player but what makes him so bad? He's not a superstar? Doesn't cost 90M? Doesn't act cool on Instagram?
I would normally just refrain from answering constructive posts like this but it's getting tiring... He's young playing his 2nd start in the PL. Considering that I think he's had a solid game so far, so please tell me what makes him so laughably bad.
