Schürrle on his way to Chelsea?

Well, whatever. Basically I think everyone's being a bit knee-jerk about Mourinho. He's obviously a great manager, but he's by no means perfect, and he's coming into a situation which is much less conducive to success than his first spell at Chelsea. The idea that his arrival will automatically turn a team who were in a battle for the CL places until the end of the season into 'favourites' is premature. Let's see how they play a bit first, no?

And Annahnomoss, I'm not playing down the importance of Fergie leaving, just taking issue with the word 'rebuild'. Moyes' challenge is to maintain the incredibly success that Fergie delivered, but there's nothing to rebuild. We haven't lost loads of players or had an unsuccessful season. You can't 'rebuild' a team that just won the league at walking pace.

Four pages in and "Don't call me Shirley" hasn't been mentioned?

The point I was making was that it doesn't matter whether you call it rebuilding or maintaining. Just because you define it with a certain word doesn't mean one of them is by default easier than the other. I pointed out the fact that we have as many problems as the other teams, our wingers and our central midfield, Rooney, our 5 best performers from last season all being over 30 etc.

In my mind Chelsea/City/Us all had the same challenges just in different areas going in to the pre-season. For now I would rank City as the favorites with Chelsea's rather odd buy and City's brilliant spending so far. Exchanging Barry for Fernandinho is a huge improvement and Navas is also a great improvement for tactical reasons.

I think Shurrle was a weak purchase from Chelsea however, but they have the purchasing power to spend that money on a bench-warmer though.

I know we haven't exactly been ruled out of the Cavani running yet but Im getting a bit frustrated as we need a world class striker. That is as clear as day, yet we've missed out on Falcao, and now possibly Cavani, so who are we going to go for? Schurrle may be good but he plays in a position we already have depth and class in, not exactly brimming with excitement.

Lukaku looked grat for West Brom, but that doesn't mean hes going to automatically do this business for us straight away, we need one world class striker, if we start the season and haven;t signed one there is no hope for the title.

5 year contract I thought. That's what Sky have reported. Not that it particularly matters.
