Sanna Marin

You would think that a country as progressive as Finland would dismiss this as a no-story. Do the majority of Finns even care?

I can see why certain folks would have an issue with the imagery more than the idea, though.

No. But for some reason most people in this thread are only able to write but not read, so I imagine this thread will be going on for a while still. Without merit.

The merit is Finland now being a hot spot because of the NATO vs Putin direct standing… and therefore the scrutiny to preserve or weaken your PM becomes a geopolitical issue.

Marin being a life-loving 36yo female is just another lever, equivalent to, say, Boris’ attitude to lie (enough to oust him for accumulation and exasperation, in the end), Berlusconi’s spot for corruption and squalid parties (enough to discredit him and weaken Italy’s standing, while PM), and many many more.

I'm more curious about something else, unrelated to this thread.

Were you all dancing topless in your 30s? The world is wilder than I thought!
I've done it with a bunch of other topless guys, I'm early 30s they would have been a few years older. It was very drunk and very silly. I don't think anyone worried about their jobs.

Burn the immodest witch.

I like my politicians corrupt and unethical.

Climate denying, genocide enabling, racist, sexist, greedy pigs is how I prefer them.

What's this dancing shit.

Lost the elections. The feck have you done Finland? No wonder half the world believes you don’t even exist.

Damn you Finland!

0.7 points difference at 97% Votes counted, hardly a loss. Most likely still making the government with Kokoomus.

Sanna herself got over 35k votes, which is a significant result. The differences within top 3 were very minor.

Is that a lot? Doesn't sound like it.

Her party got more votes than last time, but two other parties got even more more votes. The biggest party gets to form a government, so she's out.
The Social Democrats could very well end up in a red-blue coalition government with the National Coalition Party and some smaller party so shes not totally out of it, but she won't be our next Prime Minister.

I like how all of these reactions are just because she's hot  Which non-Finnish person actually knows anything about her politics?

Young adults in Finland have very low voting participation, but she is popular with them. Voting among the young adult are high thanks to her.

No, Europe needs leaders with their head screwed on atm and she is one of those setting a good example. Every country has its political scumbags doing everything possible to seize power, so when the good ones go, I worry about the replacement.

Also, she is hot.

Fixed that for you.

Nah, not as far as I know. But she's sort of the been the face of Finland going into NATO. It's not like they're going to stop just because she's not the prime minister, luckily.
Somehow, I associate it more with Niinistö actually, who seems to be making the important visits all the time - which is funny since the Finnish president has little power (and so the issue is probably the news I happened to see).

The foreign relations of Finland are the responsibility of the president of Finland, who leads foreign policy in co-operation with the government.

Ah! That explains it then.
