Sancho needs our support

Why? There's been no indication from ETH, the club or anything in the media that it's a punishment.
Someone on the Atheltic podcast kind of hinted that if you weren’t up to scratch you’d pay the price, whether it be sleeping in, being late for pre match meetings or not being fit enough.

Which to me suggested Ten Hag sent him there because he wasn’t happy with the level of professionalism in regards to being fit enough to play 2 to 3 games a week.

Sancho, the fixtures are coming fast and becoming more and more important. Are you available? Can you help your team?

“Sancho can’t come to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number Sancho will get back to you in February.”

Love it. I know we should be understanding and all, but here's the thing. About 97% of the working world still go to work even if they are having bad mental days, weeks or months.

You do realise that this is a problem in society and shouldn't be the norm, right?

I have so much to say on this but this is so the wrong thread.

Sancho will be a huge asset for us, I'm quite confident of that. All that amazing Bundesliga form can't be a fluke.

You act like he suddenly stopped showing up to work. It sounds like ETH sent him on break, just like he dropped Martinez until he's fit again.

Maybe don't take jokes so literally...

Rashford right now pretty much cemented his spot at the left. Antony seems more likely to start on right regularly. This gives me the crazy idea of putting Jadon in Martial place as CF. It sounds weird but I hope ETH gives this a try sometime.

Alternatively put him at CAM.

Starting to think this was more a punishment than anything else.

Sends a clear message to the rest of the squad what happens if you can't stay fit in this team. Do Martial next please.
If it were punishment he wouldn't have been sent to Netherlands. ETH is capable of just leaving the player in the cold. We did it with 80M Maguire, despite being the captain.

No need to rush him back in. mind you last season Rashford looked even more lost than Sancho looks now and look how he transformed this season. being in the right state mentally is absolutely crucial and I trust ETH to help him get there the same way he did with Rashford. Sancho 100% has the ability to succeed here.

Exactly this, couldnt agree more. We played Rashford in to the ground in the last few years and look how that turned out.

Remember ETH complaining about the attacking players missing games due to "illness" around the time Sancho and Ronaldo missed games due to "illness" when Sancho was dropped for poor performance?

I 100% agree with trying this. I’ve felt he’s most dangerous inside the box and more central. He just doesn’t strike me as a winger at this point. He’s still young, he’s probably best suited as a CAM but why not try CF and see what happens…his finishing this season has been the most consistent component to his game…

Is it true that there's stories of us looking to sell him already?
Yes. But it’s also true there are stories the earth is flat and the holocaust didn’t happen (and let’s not go near Covid!)

ie. Don’t believe every story you hear

sure he hasn’t set the world alight as we had expected and hoped but no club should write off a £70-80m odd transfer this quickly. I reckon we’ll give him the second half of the season and a good pre season next year.l and first half next year.
Plus I don’t think there will be much difference in his transfer value between what it is now and having another bad year next year in my opinion.

The difference being Rashford has shown good form over the years and Sancho has not given us anything yet. And his ability is purely based on what he has shown at Dortmund, in a completely different league.

Maybe the best cure for Sancho is to loan him back to Dortmund (if he and they are interested), where I assume he felt good and safe, for the rest of the season, and then hopefully we can have him back for next season fully fit and mentally ready for the challenge.

Nope, sending him back will lead to further regression. There’s clearly an excellent player in Sancho as shown in glimpses this season particularly against the scousers. Ten Hag has a reputation of rebuilding players and he’ll do the same with Sancho.

He needs to get his act together, is what he needs. He's not a little kid to be coddled. If he cant' take the pressure at a club this size, then he simply doesn't have the mentality and no amount of 'help' would fix him.

So much hearsay in here! how anyone can come up with some conclusions on what Sancho should or shouldn't do is beyond me...everyone just needs to wait!

I firmly believe he's the most talented player we have technique wise, but he has physical limitations that are always going to hold him back in this league.

If it is mental issues it does not necessarily mean that they are related to the pressure of playing for Utd, may be nothing to do with it, people from all walks of life develop mental issues at some point in their lives, who knows what this is about and what could have triggered it.

If it is related to the club and the pressure then he and the club will have to find a copacetic resolution, we cannot be angry and resentful that we spent the money, I doubt very much that anybody involved could have anticipated the situation, and I doubt very much that Sancho is enjoying it.

For me all I want from any player is that they give all they got, if they still don't cut it well thems the breaks, but I cannot abide the lack of effort.

When Sancho comes back I hope he puts everything into it, sink or swim, can't ask more.

There was that incident in the EL game where he gave the ball away, refused to (couldn't?) sprint back and we conceded a goal. He was hooked at half time. Clealy EtH wasn't happy.

He had a decent start to the season but too often you felt as though he was just drifting out of games. I'm hoping he'll come back soon fitter and raring to go.

I was on here saying we should sign him from the day it looked like he might be available at City until we did sign him. I've not forgotten what he's capable of. He's played well within himself for whatever reason, but I don't think it's the level of opposition or 'lack of pace' etc. I remember him roasting up fullbacks in Bundesliga with his footwork, nutmegs etc. It's a damn shame if we don't get that out of him here. We're all happy with Garnacho, Rashford etc. But Sancho at his best is another level to these guys. He's not got the same pace as those two, but he's got the stuff to hurt packed defences as well as stretched defences. He can take people on, he is great in tight spaces with his link up, something our other players need to improve at here also.

I'm not sure what's up with him or if anything has been said about it (or even any whispers what's going on?) but I hope we can help him become the best he can be. Traditionally, that is what we have always been good at.

It was the Chelsea game I think? The reason being it was so obvious during that game was due to the high quality of football being played and he was the only one giving the ball away. Then a few days later he played against Sharif and couldn't get in the game at all, he either couldn't be arsed or didn't have the energy to go past his man and kept killing the attack.

I really hope for everyone's sake he comes back fit a raring to go, otherwise he won't be here very long.

This is making the exact opposite point to what you want it to. It’s a sign of the broken society we live in.

And yet 97% of people go to work and live normal lives. They go to work because if they take off they don't get paid.

It was a joke and it was a pretty good one. Humor is good.

The irony in here is those with the tough guy attitude with Sancho have likely never experienced any hardship or difficulties themselves.

Man up, get on with it, don’t be soft..

You’re living in the dark ages.

I hope to God you all don’t have any sort of management responsibilities in your line of work.

This.

He's a great player, we saw him send the Entire Liverpool team for a hot dog earlier this season. Before slotting the ball into the net. He is young and if he and the manager think he needs a bit of time away to work on his mental and physical fitness, then I am really looking forward to seeing the player he comes back as.

If you recall that Rooney did a similar thing around 2010-ish. He went to a Nike training complex in America. When he came back he was lean and lively. Scored something like 30 goals that season.

Most people's jobs aren't in the spotlight of millions trying to perform at an elite level physically.

What if Ten Hag told him he's dropped until he gets fit enough to play multiple games a week? Does that mean he's also in the dark ages?
