Sanchez

if you ever have children i hope they're as disappointing to you as this thread was for me.

Now that we have lost that agonising thread title, time for a serious chat about Sanchez.

I really think the club should be doing all they can to bring in one of Reus, Di Maria or Sanchez. They have all had great seasons and are the best wingers that are even remotely possible for us to get.

If we can't get them, we will have to look a tier below, at Shaqiri, Griezmann, Munain etc. We definately need a top winger to add pace and goals to the side.

Although it does give us a thread to speculate in. Juventus and Arsenal are apparently the favourites to sign him. I still see him as our number 7 though.

So Liverpool are apparently interested and have placed a £18 million bid
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool chasing Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez
LIVERPOOL want Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez in an £18million deal as they build up their squad for a return to the Champions League.

KOP TARGET: Liverpool want to bring Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez to Anfield this summer [GETTY]

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is already chasing Southampton’s England talent Adam Lallana.

And now Liverpool – like Arsenal – have been told Sanchez wants to quit Barca because he wants more starts.

A deal won’t be done, though, until Sanchez, 25, has played for Chile at the World Cup.

FRUSTRATED: Sanchez wants to leave the Nou Camp due a lack of starts [GETTY]

“And now Liverpool – like Arsenal – have been told Sanchez wants to quit Barca because he wants more starts”

He cost Barca £25million when he moved from Udinese and earns £90k-a-week at the Nou Camp.

Sanchez, who can operate either as a striker or on the wing, gave an eye catching performance when Chile defeated England at Wembley in November.

He scored both goals in Chile’s 2-0 win.

The arrival of Sanchez could see the departure of Italian Fabio Borini, who has just returned to Liverpool after being on loan to Sunderland last season.

SAN'S THE MAN: Sanchez won't agree a deal until after the World Cup [GETTY]

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet wants him back and a £8m bid for the Italian, 23, is expected.

But Rodgers told the Daily Star Sunday that no offer had been made yet.

The Daily Star must be out of their mind if they think £18m is all it's going to take to get him...

Brilliant player, hugely underrated and someone that Barcelona should be looking to keep, even at the expense of Pedro.

If someone gets him for £18m and it isn't us, I'll be a bit pissed off. I know CM and LB are higher priorities for us, but it's not often a world-class player like Sanchez is available for that sort of money. And he'd suit us inside-out. Aside from Reus, there's no winger in world football I'd rather we buy.

The thing is, we do need a winger, whether its a right sided one or left.
The beauty of Januzaj is that he is capable of playing on each side, so whether we got Reus or Sanchez, it would solve our wing problem.
The difference is, Reus may be unattainable, whereas if the rumors are true, Sanchez is available

So as you said, if he does move, for a reasonable fee, I would be highly disappointed if we didn't even consider him

He'll cost at the very least £35m. I'd love us to get either him or Pedro actually.

IMO he's worth £35m. We need a winger like him.

Pahahahahahahahahhaah, £18 million for a guy who was Barca's second top scorer this season? Ok Daily Star, carry on then

£30m will do the trick I think. The pound has appreciated the euro recently also, and I think that Barca will be more or less happy with that amount of money.

Personally I would be ecstatic with that. I think he is top class and hasn't shown his full potential at Barca, even with such a prolific season as this one. If you were to sell, who would you replace him with realistically?

Barcelona will definitely sell Sanchez come summer, not a slither of a doubt about it. The only matter is to whom and for how much. Juventus, Liverpool and United are the three clubs that have been linked with him.

Word is that Luis Enrique wants a classic number 9 for the next season (some much needed height for our merry band of vertically challenged players) and there have been several names thrown in the Barcelona press. Pelle who plays in Holland, Llorrente, Gomez and several other, more high profile names have been already mentioned. But we will definitely see a new-look Barca next season.

£30m for him would be very good. Exactly the type of winger we should be looking at.

Would love for us to sign him. Wanted us to take a punt on him in 2010 when he was still at Udinese.

I'll be equally gutted if Liverpool sign him. He'll thrive in the Premier League.

What a disgusting idea him at Liverpool is - that hack should be ashamed of himself :nono:

Might just be me. But Sanchez's overall game seems to have regressed a notch at Barcelona. He's more clinical, polished and productive yes. But at Udinese he played with an edge and was such a massive threat with the ball while dribbling at speed. Now he's much more reluctant to break away from his marker and seems a bit less explosive. Guess it's just a by-product of the restrictions imposed by their intense possession based system which goes against his innate counter-attacking potential. Not one to complain mind, 30 or even 40 million is superb value for a player of his profile. Will be a good match for our more expansive style of play.

Undoubtedly it's Sanchez conforming to Barca's system. He's still been great for them this season. Compared with how he plays for Chile where his more cavalier style is allowed to be expressed. He would be perfect for us.

He's been a lot better for them over the last 12 months or so but I'd have thought he'd have become far more influential by this stage to be fair.

I may be biased but i think he's a player perfectly setup to play for us
Doesn't sound even remote to something biased. Van Gaal's 4-3-3 plus Sanchez is an extremely logical and progressive thinking.

The faster we'll appoint the man, the better.

I don't think he's failed, this season at least. Been brilliant for most of the year, was very important while Messi and Neymar were missing and was undeservedly dropped in some of their most important games. 21 goals and 11 assists this season is as good as you can expect from a wide position at Barcelona.

Why exactly are Barca so keen to sell him anyways? I thought he'd had a good season

If he goes to Pool, do we have to hate him?

He has 19 goals in La Liga? That is brilliant stats for someone who mostly plays as a winger
Apparently 21 goals and 15 assists in all competitions... Always been pretty good whenever I've seen him this season but didn't expect those stats. Never thought he'd suit Barca too well, but he'd be brilliant for us IMO. There it was made for everyone to set up Messi more or less. He'd be given the freedom to play his game here.

Absolutely. Can see him settling immediately into the team

Unfortunately i can't see us getting him. He seems contented at Barca and didn't moan a piece whenever he was dropped

Yet still gets sold. To be honest, any half decent attacker that gets games at Barca would probably put out good numbers.

No one did the last two seasons (Alexis included in that). Both he and Pedro stepped up their output this season, but of the two Alexis was much better overall. If you believe the rumours, he wants to leave because of how often he was dropped in the big games, rather than Barcelona deeming him not good enough.
