Sadio Mane | Performances

regardless of the outcome this weekend that is a huge blow for them.

This is the bigger picture for Pool. They were always going to raise their game this weekend, mane or not. The issue arises in all the games following the cup final against united, where the loss of mane will really show its effect on the team.

Damn. Any win will feel hollow now. It's like winning a 1 billion lottery, but then your old grumpy wife wants a divorce.

Shit, he's more injured than Aguero then. So are we allowed to revel in his misfortune, or are we all boo-hooing?

Eh? I honestly don't get viewpoints like this. It's not like we aren't missing big name players ourselves. Any win over Liverpool would be fine by me.

In anycase let's just win first.

Also if your old and grumpy wife wants to divorce you after winning the lotto, then it's win-win

How would they line up
Wjnaldum-Henderson-Can
Salah-Coutinho
Firmino

?

Still not that shabby and wouldn't be over confident. Just bring the intensity and we should be able to walk away with the 3 points and render their fans to promises of next season.

Where's the downside?
Losing half or more of lottery pay out... However, on second thought, that's not too bad. You have more than enough money for the rest of your life, hey ho. Applying to this case, if this help us winning the title. Who give a feck about how convincing we beat a strong L'pool team?!

Happens every season without fail, and the lack of depth and quality means our entire system breaks down. But dw we'll win the net spend trophy or something.

Lol, the sarcasm from the utd fans and the doom and gloom liverpool fans. We all know that you could trot out an U-15 team at Anfield against utd and still put in a very good performance.

Mane could be absent until December, that's a BIG loss for them..

Their fixtures in that period:
Home - United, Huddersfield, Southampton & Chelsea
Away - Spurs, West Ham & Stoke

Could be some damaging points dropped in those fixtures...

Hopefully this inspires Jose to set us up with more freedom. Just start with the same team we have been starting with Herrera instead of Fellaini of course.

Yes, this this this. Surely they have few enough threats now that he trusts our usual defensive players to just handle it. If Herrera plays, he and Matic can handle Coutinho between them. Firmino is a good striker, not a great one - if you nullify the rest of that unit, Jones and Bailly will handle him easily enough.

The main remaining concern for me is actually Salah, because we don't really have anyone at LB who's particularly good at handling a pace man. It's Blind's signature weakness, really - it's much too easy to kick and rush him. Darmian isn't as sluggish but he's still going to vulnerable unless he's allowed to have a really deep starting position. Shaw, in form, is made for the job, but if he was in form he'd probably have played some football so I doubt that's a good option.

This will upset all the Martial fans (and I love the kid) but your point is exactly why Jose will start with Rashford on Saturday. His pace and industry will be required on that left wing to neutralize Salah.

The question then remains: will Jose also start with Martial or will he bring him from the bench as he has done most of this season?

Liverpool will put in a performance against us regardless of who's injured. That's not to say we can't or won't win, just that it will still be a tough game.

However, I think in games after the United game, Liverpool will really struggle without Mane.

This. Liverpool are the biggest game raising cnuts out there.

I'd argue where Sadio Mane is injured is the one area you do have depth. Salah, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Oxlade, Woodburn, Solanke. Lallana to come back from injury and you weirdo's still have Markovic and Ings as well.

Sturridge can't or won't run, he's crocked.
Ings hasn't played in two years and even then you'd have to put Firmino out wide when the system is set up around him.
Markovic is a player I like but he's not a good enough winger in this league for a top 6 side, although I would love to see him tried in the 8 I think he could thrive there.
Woodburn/Solanke are kids.
Lallana isn't back till the middle of November and likely won't be match fit till December ish.
Ox same issue with Marko, he doesn't go in behind naturally and wants it to feet and dribble. Part of what makes Mane/Salah so devastating is there movement, it's absolute elite level. Ox doesn't even come close and he isn't going to learn it now. Only time he should be playing wide right is in a 4-2-3-1. Again needs to play in the 8, no coach in the world will 're train a player to magically gain attributes they never had.

In a way you're right it's probably the most depth we have anywhere, but this system rather than being reliant on one player is reliant on 3/4 all being fit to work. It needs the right balance and combinations otherwise it just falls apart.

No way will Jose start Martial. Indeed, as much as I hate to say it, if we are winning it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't bring him on at all. He'll go super defensive to close out the match. I hope I'm wrong as I'd love to see Martial come on for the last 20 minutes or so and rip their defence apart, but we'll see...

If he goes 3-5-2, he may very well.

A very good player and Liverpool will miss him. I think that he would have fitted in very well here if we had brought him in.

Hard luck for Liverpool, he's not just a terrific player but key to what Klopp is trying to get his team to do

Martial will either play 10 minutes or stay on bench. Depends how we do.

If we score a second goal, Martial will come on. If not, he stays on the bench like the Southampton game. Would really love him to start though as he can destroy their full back.

I think Martial will start with Mykytarin, and Rashford and Mata on the bench for this game.

DDG
Valencia Bailley Smalling Jones Young
Matic Herrera
Mykytarin Martial
Lukaku

Think this will be the team.

That's what I went for in my prediction

Been average for a while now. Finally showing signs of his Southampton days where he could be unplayable on the day but amongst that had long periods were he was mediocre and frustrating. The main reason why a lot of us didn't want him at the time.

Pretty sure he’ll be very jealous of Salah at the moment. Looks like he’s trying too hard to show he’s still as important as he was last season.

I think Salah doing so well is getting to him. He was pissed when Klopp didnt pick him for a game and since then he has tried to do it all by himself on many occassion. Even today he didn't seem overly happy when coming off. Surely Salah taking the limelight is getting to him.

Yeah it's clear.

He's no longer their favorite toy. Salah became their most important player, scoring every game while increasing his chance of winning African player of the year. All this got into Mane's mind and he had become very greedy to prove he's still here.

Such kind of mentality is always terrible to see.

I believed he has costs Liverpool some points this season with his decision making like last night doing some acrobatic kick rather than taking the ball down and shoot. Remember a few games ago with Everton where he shoots rather than pass to three other teammates when the goal is at their mercy.
