It is a bit strange how United leaked they've lodged a bid while Southampton deny receiving any bid.

I've decided this is a smoke screen for Griezmann. Brb, making imaginary lineups.

So this great club would rather pump for a Mane and ditch Adnan back to the bench because we need more pace. We have plenty of pace. We dont need more pace. We need our players working at a higher pace thats the key issue here. Chelsea won the league last year can you break down for me how their front 4 for example are any quicker than say Rooney Depay Young Mata? Or City before them I cant even be bothered to think of their attack.

Not only that but he has played in a position that was new(ish) to him for a few years and has done a better job than many have given him credit for. Some of our fans are turning into a pathetic bunch of spoilt brats.

But we weren't "active" for Pedro at all. We obviously agreed personal terms with him but have been stringing Barca along on transfer fee details for a month. That wouldn't have happened if we really wanted him.

Completely different tactics - LVG needs the pace up front for his

And, Mane is currently way ahead of Januzaj (who would still get gametime)
 
He can beat his man without falling to the ground and that's good enough for me.

van Gaal was keeping things vague with the media. Given that he's played Januzaj and Memphis through the middle so far, I'm led to believe that he's looking for a goalscoring player with some pace to play through the middle, not at the right side. With Mata sealing that spot so far, I don't think he wants to get a player to replace Mata on the right, especially since Mata's one of van Gaal's most favourite players.

Re: Woodward, he went to check if Pedro was available for a lower price than the reported buyout clause. I think Woodward was just setting up options for van Gaal, and given that there are conflicting reports about whether Pedro wanted to come here/was confident about it as well as our interest in Pedro, I'm led to believe that van Gaal wasn't ever really keen on him. I'm thinking he's more keen on a pacey second striker than a right winger, hence the reason why he played Januzaj and Memphis there over Herrera and Rooney.

Way ahead? Seriously...and how would a player get way ahead...through gametime perhaps? But hell we can't have that we'll just buy in pace. Buy Theo, lad's got bags of pace but wouldnt hold a candle talent wise to Adnan. Lucky Bergkamp and Zola didnt come through the ranks here.

That's nonsense,

That was the last update we got from LvG. That's very much saying Pedro has to decide, not, we've yet to decide if we want him for the release clause. He chose Chelsea just accept it and move on already

Probably because they give game time assurances like Cesc said thats what was decisive for him. I dont think Pedro would get that here. We have Mata who can play out there. We face teams that sit back with 2 banks of 4 as we pass and pass. Pace won't solve that very often.

It's infuriating for me, being ridiculed by mates for getting done by Chelsea. Whether its true or not its what 99.9% of football fans assume happened. Its embarrasing. We should have just kept Welbeck if we are really interested in Mane.
 
so I guess this guy was the next on the shortlist to Pedro and Bale?

looks fast powerful and skillful but doesn't he play on the left as well? I'd have thought we'd be looking for a right sided pacey attacker or a centre forward but maybe that's next on the list

Signing anyone on the back of game time assurances would be a bad idea IMO.

There have been other quality players he has signed? Fergie turned down many quality players like every club. Can't just buy buy buy, as Van Gaal says it is a process and it all had to be right. People need to stop throwing tantrums at players not joining when they already had them images in their mind of them playing in a United shirt. There have been quality players signed this window and there will be more.

All the signings we have made outfield wise have been bang on the money this summer, so I am sure LVG knows what he is doing on that front..

As far as I'm concerned if Pedro doesn't want to come here then good riddance we don't need another ADM situation.

If LVG was the one that stopped it I'm sure he and the club has their reasons, not quite sure what they are though. End of the day it's pedro, he's good but really nothing amazing it's not as if we've missed out on signing Ronaldo or anything.
 
Maybe been asked but why o why are we briefing the media on this?

Honestly don't think the club is naive or stupid enough to think this will cover , or offer an explanation as to why we didn't get Pedro, almost the reverse in fact, playground stuff where you fall over flat on your face having tripped over your laces, but instantly leap back up as if you meant to do it all along.

It's clear we had doubts over Pedro, and maybe rightly so, but the club should just keep quiet and take their punishment for handling it badly.
 
Could we be linked to a more underwhelming signing? We'd end up probably paying more for him than for Pedro. It's fecking stupid.
 
For what it's worth i think this forum is in a better place after our undefeated start and our great defensive record so far (always wondered how we let Fergie sign such terrible players back then now i know - we were always in a good situation), safe to say if this link had surfaced in May, Mane would have been ripped apart.

Lets be honest we moved quickly for Depay as LVG said he had to to stop PSG. So that means he didnt want Pedro. All i'm saying is fans who think its because Muller or Reus and co are waiting in the wings are dreaming. Likewise Mane...LVG mentioned Young when saying we dont have the players other top clubs have. He hardly meant Mane!

That wasn't my point :lol: I know he's signed well this window but he's still reportedly halted the negotiations for Fabregas or Kroos.

We still need to sign a forward and probably a centre back. It doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Reportedly wasn't interested in carrying on negotiations for Kroos, wasn't interested in Fabregas and more recently Otamendi. Don't get me wrong, he's signed some great players, but we still need a couple more in this window I'd say.

He seems happy with Rooney, Hernandez and Wilson as our strikers, Jones, Smalling, McNair Rojo and Blind as our centre backs and Romero in net (if Dave leaves).
