Really ? Both are inconsistent and neither are better than our current options imo. If lvg can drive the inconsistency out of mane then great because he does have some really good moments.

Does LVG have a great record with talented young players or not? Pretty sure the guy has a proven track record.

Of the players he's signed so far at united who has been terrible? Ironically the two who people thought were actually the bankers to do well.

My thoughts? If LVG bid for Mane last week then maybe Pedro wasn't his first choice? And maybe today we've been told that they will sell him? Thus we pull the plug on Pedro.

We all thought something had progressed when the Pedro deal fell through.
 
What exactly is he? A striker or a winger? Surely we need a striker someone who can scare the shit out of Rooney, not someone who might play instead of him now and again? Stop pandering to Rooney. What were his stats for last season?

10 goals in 30 games. 2/3 assists too. Apparently he's best as a number 10 but mainly played on the left wing for southampton

Agree that neither are good enough. But the opinion I have always held is that Zaha is barely Premier League quality. I can't underestimate how average I think he is/was. At least there would be something to work on with Mane although for £25m we'd be a laughing stock considering we could have got a proven performer in Pedro for less.

funny how this news came so soon after the Pedro news came through. I think the club briefed the media to save face because they fecked up. Pedro was a main target.

Buying him and then playing him as a #10 while we persist with the sloth-like Mata out wide would be absolutely bonkers. might as well just keep giving Adnan starts to grow into the #10 role, he has the skill for it.

Not sure you can accuse Mane of lacking end product. He scored as many goals from open play in the Premier League as Hazard last season. Played 1,200 less minutes as well.

(Got 6 less assists but he did have Pelle playing up top who went through a massive drought).

:lol: Fair enough. I don't know a lot about Mame, but would try to keep an open mind should we sign him. He looks crazy quick and very strong and can play in several positions.

I'd trust the opinions of Saints fans over the meltdown posts on here from people who haven't seen him a lot and just aren't "excited" about him.
