Ryan Sessegnon

He'd be a good option to provide competition to martial, which Sanchez has completely failed to do. He could conceivably take martial's place in time since he doesn't seem to be improving as a player at all. At the same time though there are more obvious signings to do that like Anderson at west ham. Hes definitely not a full back though.

IMO he's more a LW than a LB. If you want as left back to cover Shaw, Tierney could be a better choice.

Sessegnon would be better to compete with Martial.

Needs some coaching. Fulham must regret not selling him last summer. Should really only get £10m for him and that’s just for his passport. No idea what he is yet. Not good enough to be a PL winger - zero trickery, not the quickest, not got outstanding delivery. Best bet is to go to Spurs and let Pochettino coach him into something.

Agreed. Certainly shouldn’t come to us the state were in right now, off the back of a meh season at Fulham.

Looks far too languid for the type of style we need right now. Doesn't seem to have the acceleration

He clearly has a lot of raw potential, but you know, being english and stuff it will cost an arm and a leg, so totally not worth it.

it is best for him to move to spurs and follow the path of Bale. His contract expires next summer so he won't be that expensive either.

He should aim for higher players right now, he has looked bang average this season with Fulham so it's highly unlikely he would do better here.

I've seen absolutely nothing from him when I've watched Fulham to suggest he's even remotely good enough.

I know Fulham have been shocking but he's been hyped up as this soon to be megastar and he looks shite tbh.

I've lots of Fulham supporter friends and even they say hes massively over-hyped. I could see Spurs taking a punt and coaching him over the next few seasons but us.. forget it. Even as a back up left winger.. not good enough. Defensively not good enough at the moment to make it as left back, Wing back the same.

I agree. Sometimes relegated teams have players that stick out in a positive sense (Wijnaldum) but Sessegnon for me hasn't. So unless we can get him for a very low price I hope we steer clear. His value has gone down this season IMHO.

Last season Sessegnon and Tierney were favorites in the caf.

Which player was better this season ?

He's not a winger. IMO he should have continued his development as a fullback.

This has a Liverpool/Spurs signing written all over it. Undervalued player with loads of potential available for a cut-rate price.

I had a season ticket this year at Fulham, because I live so close and wanted to watch some football. Sessegnon very rarely impressed me much. Still looks like there’s a player in there but honestly nothing too special, I couldn’t work out if it was just not being able to make the step up due to age or lack of actual ability because he would always have the occasional moment

He's 18 years old. Which of our 18 year olds has done what he has? That's not to say our 18 year olds won't become better, just saying to put into perspective. It's not all that odd that an 18 year old struggled in the PL. I would think he's a better buy than Fred for the same price considering his potential to contribute at the very least as a squad option in the future.

The time to buy is now precisely because of perception. Just look at Zaha. Sessegnon had a better season in the Championship despite being 17 last year. If Sessegnon becomes Zaha in the near future, the buy would be worth it. Another comparison is Tammy Abraham. Did really well on loan in the Championship, got another loan in the PL, didn't do well, and then just lit it up in the Championship again. I'm sure Chelsea will give him another crack at the PL next season loan or not.

He’s a year older than Greenwood and people are writing him off, yet Greenwood is our saviour.

Mental.

He's 18 and plays for the worst team in the league! Pretty difficult for him to show his true potential in those conditions. I'm sure he'll become a very good player, albeit likely a left winger rather than a left back.

I don't recall; 1) Him being written off, 2) Anyone saying Greenwood being our saviour.

RS doesn't appear to show any special potential a this stage but he may develop later, who knows.

Greenwood has shown something a bit special albeit in the lower levels so again, we just have to wait.

I'd take a punt on him or the lad from Swansea or even both. New direction for us.

He was brilliant in the Championship last season and I feel people may have expected him to carry over that form into the PL, which in reality, was never going to happen. He's definitely a very talented player even if, for some, he has underwhelmed this season. Let's not forget that he was playing in a mess of a Fulham side that struggled with every aspect of their play. I don't think he's remotely good enough (yet) for a big side and maybe another season in the Championship might not be the worst thing for his development.

Spurs is the move for him as a Dele Alli understudy in my opinion. I think his future is as a raumdeuter, although coming more from a wide position. 2 goals and 6 assists isn't too bad end product considering all the factors. I think Poch would be a great coach for him. I expect Spurs will be in for him this summer.

It's possible - we had a lot of interest in him last summer but he chose to stay with Fulham. Hard to know now if that was the best decision for him but I guess he does now have some Premiership experience.

What position would you field him? You have a couple of good kids out onthe left.

As others have suggested he looks more like a left sided attacker or attacking wing back rather than a left-back. I see him playing further up the park.

He's hardly played LB so don't know where that keeps coming from.

His best position is at wing back or LM. He can spot a pass but I've never seen him with any instant acceleration. That would be my only concern about him. A lot of quicker players about IMO.

Well pace/acceleration isn't everything (though it is something you can develop - acceleration anyway - look at Kane), if you have good technique and awareness then I'd rather have that than a player with pace but lacking in those areas. That being said I'm not sure yet if Sessegnon has that as I haven't seen enough of him to judge but he clearly is a talented kid - a bit of a rough diamond.

I was thinking about what we need at Utd. We have languid players already but lack the pace of a Kante, etc

I'll be honest I saw nothing in him whatsoever this past season

He says he doesn't want another season in the Championship but that looks like his level at the moment tbh

Wouldn't say no. Poor first seasons in the PL for kids can be misleading as we found out time and time again. Salah, Richarlison, Bale etc

For the right price it would be a very sensible bit of business. Gives us options in several positions with a young player that can improve and maybe some day become first choice. We don't just need a first team, we need squad options too.

Yeah, he can play as winger and if needed as left back back up.

Second most assists of any teenager in a top five league. He's super young and full of potential.
