Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney | Wrexham AFC Watch

Wrexham could’ve had a penalty early (37 sec mark in the video) on and it look like the Notts Co keeper handled the ball out of his area (55 sec mark).

Cracking game. Can't help but root for Wrexham because of Rob and Ryan (said it many times before, they seem like very lovely guys and very invested in the team and community).

They both seem like great guys. As a Chesterfield follower, i'll be glad to see the back of Wrexham, because if we don't go up this year, the league will be an easier one to win without them in it

I always root against them, just cause of the Hollywood dudes. This thread's making me feel like a weirdo for that, I figured it'd be quite common.

Yeah I don't know how anybody couldn't be impressed and supportive of what they are doing.

It's that I see them as panto villains rather than I take issue with them. They're the big flash richy baddies in non-league football. I don't think I object in principle to their ambitions (though I can't say I've ever taken an interest enough to know much about it either).

They should dress in all black and wear bandanas with Hollywood written on them

Usually I would agree but they've fully embraced the community and are very humble in the way they're going about it. They are doing amazing things for the town, not just the club.

For the reasons mentioned above... community outreach etc etc. This is far removed from a couple of disinterested rich owners ploughing money into a club and AFK-ing it.

You don't have to like them, but it's undeniable that they've done a lot of good for the city and the club.

I hope they do well but storming the national League by outspending is a whole different kettle of fish to the upper leagues. Once they hit league one it takes a lot of either skill or big money to make it to the Championship and up.

I dislike the whole aspect of Wrexham spending ridiculous sums of money to gain success, I dislike the whole Hollywood owners and nauseating media swoon over the whole thing.

But damn hearing the owners talk about football, talk about the opposition in such glowing terms, seeing their genuine delight at the heroics by individuals, it's hard not to like the owners overall.

I think cos of FFP that their high turnover will still be an advantage in L1 but in the Championship they'll just be a small or medium fish.

I think it's 60% of turnover for salaries in L1.
Assuming they'll have amongst the highest turnovers, that's a big advantage.

The new stand will be built by then so if they're selling out a capacity of 16,000, that's plenty to be competitive on top of sponsorship etc.

When they reach Championship though it'll require very competent management and recruitment, as they're turnover might be towards the lower end of the table.

But still, if they can establish themselves as a sustainable Championship club, that would be a huge achievement. Also great for Welsh football with 3 sets of derbies a year.

I think L1 would be Wrexham's natural ceiling without R&R, but Championship is achievable with extra revenue from sponsors etc.

I happened to be in Wrexham on Friday and thought I'd head over to the stadium for a look around. Unfortunately everything was shut for good Friday, and they were playing away so just got a look around the outside, but the area around looks to have had some investment can only think all the hype is good for the surrounding area

Agreed, it's a kick in the teeth for someone like Notts county to not get automatic because of the money ploughed into Wrexham, but you have to say they've really done everything in the best way they can, to not get hated.

I'd imagine once they're selling out a 16,000 capacity stadium, it's good for the local economy.
They've already increased backroom staff by a lot, I think more than a hundred.

But 1000s of extra fans spending money in the town must be worth millions a year.

As a canadian, living in canada, I am equally perplexed by this comment. There is some bizarre myth that canadians are all nice, but it's just simply not true.

Yeah I lived in Toronto and the general public were dickheads.

Lovely in Calgary though.

Went to Calgary for the first time last summer and people were very friendly, not just for that reason, but it felt like a different country in general. I want to move there now.

Not ideal for fans to change the kickoff time this late but I guess it was always going to happen with BT Sport probably getting nice numbers for yesterday. No 17:30 kickoff in PL and the FA Cup semi probably done and dusted by the time this one starts. So expecting some record numbers for the National League.

Anyway if they both win their matches until then, a draw in this would be enough to get the inevitable party started at the Racecourse.

I don't really know what "nice" means in this context, but all stereotypes aside, Canadians tend to be friendly, and as a Canadian, whenever I've visited the United states, they've always been welcoming and generous (with Customs and Border agents a massive exception). But I suspect the perception of our two countries is based on things like foreign policy and wider cultural differences, and who dislikes Canada on that score? I mean, we've given the world some great music and great actors, writers, and comedians and we must have the most inoffensively nonwarlike yet iconic flag in the world.
As a canadian, who spent his whole life in Canada, but living on an American border for the first 30 years of my life, who spent extensive time in the US, Americans in general are far more friendly, gracious, humble people than canadians.

Bit small-minded to think of all famous people as antagonists, no?
