Ryan Gravenberch | signs for Liverpool

Liverpool needed a proper 6 of decent quality, they've bought a 30 year old never was and a young player that isn't really defensive and they've paid atleast 10m too much.

I'd have taken him if we signed him after amrabat but not instead of. He could be very good in the future but we're needing a certain standard now.

Insane that Bayern have doubled their money on him
I think thats just the market price for young promising midfielders. They were able to get him cheaply because he was on his last year so it was a good deal for them.

No doubt Bournemouth to step forward and pay €40m for Elliot and Jones to cover it.

Don't really see the logic for them. Not convinced he's suited to the prem, but also he'll just be 3rd choice in CM behind Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, they need a DM. Unless Klopp plans to go towards a diamond, he's just depth for those 2.

Smells like them just getting desperate and grabbing whatever midfielder was left after the music stopped. Chelsea have hoovered up everybody else and Amrabat seems happy enough to wait for us to count the pennies in the ashtray.

He'll probably somehow turn into the next Frank Rijkaard for them just because they're jammy fecking cnuts though, of course.

He's definitely not a de Jong type like someone mentioned above. He's someone who will rotate with the two advanced #8s. He wasn't even pulling up any trees at Ajax when Bayern bought him and it was felt that he wasn't ready for the next step. It looks like Liverpool have decided to wait on a more long-term holding midfielder.

I could be wrong but I would take us developing Mainoo and Hannibal over signing Gravenberch. For €40m + €5m, it looks a very good deal for Bayern.

That's near 200 million Liverpool have spent on 4 midfielders in this window. Let midfielders Keita,Milner go for free and got 52 million for another two midfielders, Fabinho and Henderson

So they brought him for €18m. Barely played him and sold him for €45m.

I know we are FFP restricted “allegedly” but man glad we aren’t getting mugged off like this.

They’ve paid for half of Harry Kane by selling a player that they don’t use, who they got for 10m just 12 months ago?

Not too envious of this one, Jurgen I’ll be honest.

It seems their have bought alot of midfielders this season.. 4 isn't it? We can't we do at least 2....

And yet I'd still prefer our midfield to theirs. Two similar set-ups with a #6 and two #8s, except we actually have a (usually) top class #6.

That’s the thing. He’s a FDJ type who we’ve been chasing, and tenHag knows how to use him to best effect. He’d have done well here .
He's nothing like FDJ. Hes an 8 who wants to go frowards into a 10 position. FDJ is a 6 and DLP.

Glad he's gone to Liverpool, not what we need nor do i think hes what liverpool need either.

2 million free money for Ajax. You won't hear me complain but God that is baffling.

Higher ceiling than Amrabat but I felt Amrabat was a better fit for what Liverpool need right now and Gravenberch if he hits his potential is what we could do with instead of Mount.

I think he's a good player with big potential and would do well under Klopp. However I much prefer Amrabat as Mainoo when he comes back will play in the role Gravenburch plays. Amrabat is casemiro back up, badly needed and we finally will have two proper DMs for the first time in years.

Unfortunately I think the Scousers have got a great player. Gravenberch is well known for having an extremely chilled & nonchalant character, so having someone like Klopp kicking him up the arse could be just what he needs. I’m concerned if I’m honest, potentially he really is very very good.

Not sure about him at all, whether a £10m gamble or a £35m one. Let's hope I'm going to be really surprised.

Not sure it's fair to write off a 21 year old player.

Sometimes the wrong club can screw you up. He didn't finish even a single 90 minute game.

At Liverpool, Klopp would know how to use him and has invested 35 odd million.

Here's hoping that Klopp was on Kool aid while giving a go ahead for the transfer.

We really learned how to sell players didnt we?
Very good but also very injury prone Hernandez for 50, barely played Gravenberch for 40, Mane the big misunderstanding for 30, Pavard for 30-35 and even Sabitzer who we got for free for 20.

Just very good business.

Im curious what Klopp is able to get out of Gravenberch. He has potential but he needs to work on his defensive contribution and his mentality.
But he is still only 21 and Klopp showed several times how he could make players overperform so i wouldnt be surprised if he manages to shape Gravenberch into the next Pogba (the good French NT version)

Shame it hasn’t work for the lad at a big club, he’s still young though. Hopefully for him he can rebuild himself at Liverpool and if it works out for him he’ll get his move to a big club in a few years time.

Hoping he'll have a good career at Liverpool. Winning a league or two, and a few CL.

Can't put into words how jealous I am of this lot  :(

To be fair Bayern probably got him cheap from Ajax back then because he was in final year of his contract? He is always going to worth min 30-40m because of his age and talent.

he is on €175k in bayern per week and i dont think he will receive less in liverpool. The total package wont be cheap for liverpool considered he may be only 2nd/3rd rank midfield option

Just wait for Liverpool journalists to report he will be on 75K per week at Liverpool.

Not that I particularly care what we pay him but given how much he seems to have wanted to leave in order to play more, it seems probable he'd take a cut.

You’re assuming a positive day for us…

Checks notes .... 30 year old ... Endo?

Strange signing. Surely should have spent the money on a better DM.

We just don't work any other way. The wages reflect your importance to the club. Once that importance wanes and you're on a big salary then the door is beckoning.

Sadio Mane is the biggest example. He wanted more money and we wanted to actually give him less. Followed swiftly by Fab, Hendo and probably next summer, Salah.

Gravenberch will have to earn his crust here. We're not an oil club.
