Ryan Giggs. Professional, Legend, Adulterer, Accomplice, Assassin, Usurper?

If there are concerns at board level with moral behaviour of a proven winning manager like jose mourinho, why the feck would we be appointing an ex player with no management experience who was shagging his brother's wife?
Because Giggysy proved that he could be deplorable while winning cups, trophies, titles and awards. Jose's immorality often proves an obstacle to his success. That's why Sir Bobby has given Ryan a free pass. When asked about it, Charlton was quoted as saying, "Ryan always represents Manchester United in an exemplary fashion in press conferences. The business with his brother's spouse is just a little bump and grind."

Ryan is one of the boys. Jose is not. Its that simple

That could happen to anyone but I'm pretty sure this was a full blown affair

Manchester United

And that's all I really care out when it comes to Giggs.

As a footballer, he was gifted, a fantastic pro and great role model, as a footballer.

I don't get the hero worship of sports people as some sort of paragons of virtue, many of the very best of them, across all sports, are completely detestable individuals, that doesn't detract from their ability in their field.

Did I love watching Giggs play for Utd? 100%
Would I like to be his friend and have pints with him every week, hmm, probably not, he seems like a bit of an arsehole, great footballer all the same.

BBC article saying SAF and Gary Neville will be witnesses in the trial.

agreed and there are more like Giggs that we don't know about who successfully stomp on their shit before it gets out for sure.

It would be character witnesses.
I know and that makes me uncomfortable.

If Giggs is guilty of these offences, it doesn’t look great having SAF and Neville up there saying he’s actually a really nice guy.

Agree.

It reminds me of Rory Best, the then Irish rugby captain, attending court in the trial for rape of two of his Ulster team mates. He didn’t give evidence in the end, but whether he intended it or not, it looked jarring (which he has subsequently admitted).

There is a massive amount of middle ground between "paragons of virtue" and what Giggs has done and is now accused of though. Whenever I see old clips of him now it feels a little more off and grimy. Not as joyous as it used to be.

Absolutely adored Giggs up until it was revealed what he was doing with his sister in law, lost all respect for the man after that. Doing that to your own brother is the sign of a really horrible twat.

Goes to show you can't go with a persons on field personality to decide what kind of person they are off the pitch. Most of us would never imagine he would bang his sister in law.

He is such a psycho - hard to believe a player I admired and loved growing up is such a dick. For a his amazing footballing ability and trophies, his name will always be tarnished

Got to agree wholeheartedly with this.

Don't forget that Best, who is revered as a god round these parts, not only did some pretty awful things as a person, was an alcoholic who drunk himself to death and abandoned the club in his prime. That doesn't detract from his status as a United legend though.

Not everyone can be Bobby Charlton.

Agree.

Hope he got at least 20 years.

I find the whole notion of character witnesses bizarre. You hear judges in rape trials talking about someone coming from a good family and all this bollox when sentencing scumbags that were found guilty. It's ridiculous. Guilty is guilty.

In his defence here, he hasn't been found guilty yet. His accuser saying she couldn't believe he was so unfaithful etc.....give me a break love, the fact he was banging his brothers Mrs was old news by the time you hooked up with him and you didn't seem too perturbed by the fact he was still married at that stage. Imogen Thomas's recollections of her time with him also didn't seem to be of any concern to her.

Obviously if he laid a hand or a head in this case allegedly (even worse) on her then he deserves a stretch inside but if I was in the jury I would already be having my doubts about her testimony.

United should have nothing to do with him, Ferguson speaking on his behalf stinks to high heaven.
He was in the VIP areas for Ronaldo comeback game last year and I felt like switching off when I saw his psychopathic mug. Always thought his eyes were way too close together.

That's....unfortunate.

Even worse, a couple of weeks ago a guy who was convicted of raping his family had no shortage of character referees lining up to offer statement in support of him. The judge I think ruled that any references would have to be given in person in court. Rightly so.

Yeah I've always said he's got untrustworthy little dark beady eyes

I saw him knee Davinia from Holly Oaks in the head several times, while pulling her down by her hair, outside the Four seasons hotel at the end of the night, many years ago. Not that long after that he girlfriend swapped her with David Garner and Stacey Cooke moving the other direction. Garner still owes me £50 from 1998 for a mobile phone.

Wait, what? All of them?

He's scum, and I hope United fans forget about him as soon as possible.
It's fecked up though, he was a hero to lots on here as a kid and is the most decorated player in the club's history. Unlikely his 13 league titles will be surpassed in any our lifetimes. Airbrushing him from history is impossible because his time and Ferguson's reign are inextricably linked.

Such a fecking shame he turned out to be such a scumbag.

Can't airbrush him out of the club's history but we can happily keep him at arm's length from the club's present.

For example last season he was invited into the director's box for Ronaldo's homecoming game, at a point where these accusations were public knowledge, he had resigned as Wales boss and he was awaiting a pre-trial hearing. That shouldn't have happened.

Probably my favourite player to watch but yes I agree with you.

When I see him or her his name now the first thought is always what a complete scumbag he turned out to be.

It's hard to even watch a clip of him playing

If this was not Ryan Giggs you wouldn't be saying that. Just reading that account of the assault is sickening and there is a witness and probably other proof to back some of it up from the looks of it. Giggsy was a great player for us, but he's a vile and despicable human being from the looks of it. Hope the punishment is severe.
