Hope we have someone lined up as Rooney can be hit and miss as a striker so we need someone who can guarantee 20 plus goals a season.

Definitely the right decision for me, the wages he's on combined with his performances over the past two years + his age makes it a no brainer really. Hopefully we've got someone like Lacazette or Griezmann lined up, but genuinely think we'll be looking at Benteke/Higuain.

This is going to be such a sad and underwhelming ending to his United career. Rewind three years and we were all going mad about signing arguably the best striker on the planet, and now he's being shunted out the back door, to Turkey, for a little under £5 million quid.

It always does amaze me how quickly things change in football.

He's on a downward slope though, and has been since SAF left. It's better to sell now than let him stink up our attack next season.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not against him going. Its just a shame how its turned out after all the excitement, and that first season. I thought he'd end up retiring here with a few PL medals around his neck.

On a positive note, he had a major influence in the 20th title and therefore provided the ideal platform for Sir Alex to retire in the manner fitting to his persona. As Johan Cruyf once said, every advantage has its disadvantage.

Lacazette, somebody ?

Been getting steadily worse for two seasons and on very high wages. Never really felt the love for him in anything other than fits and spurts, abit like his form for the majority of his time here.

He could leave on a free and it would still be a worthy transfer.. Got us number 20, along with a nice farewell for Sir Alex..

I'll never forget that season, or the excitement around the transfer. Easily my favourite muppet transfer of all time.

He was easily worth the money for that season alone.

Thank you for number 20 RVP! We'll never forget. Sad to see him go.

Surely we have someone lined up? At the moment we have Rooney/Wilson/Chicharito (who's out for a while).... I can't imagine us risking going into the season with those 3?

Barca are sorted upfront and Real have Benzema so....United!

Terrible decision to sell him.

Still had a lot to offer to the club even if it might not have been as first choice.

He needs to play regularly, EUROs coming up

Unless Muller is an option, which I would stunned at, then our options are Lacazette or taking a punt on Kane being more than a one season wonder.
Kane will cost twice as much as the figures being talked about for Lacazette and it will take the whole summer dicking around with Levy to get done.

Higuain, Berahino and Cavani aren't good enough. Zlatan is getting on and isn't the player we need. Ronaldo will want to break the goal record at Madrid and Suarez, Aguero and pretty much any other striker of the quality we should be looking at are unavailable to us.
If we could pull Muller & Schneiderlin this summer hell wouldn't be able to stop us and if Lacazette really wants to go then Louie could pretty much complete a new team for Champions League in just two seasons.

Feck me LVG is not messing around

One of the best things about him. RUTHLESS!

Terrible decision to sell him.

I don't think RVP wants to spend his last few years on the bench. As I said earlier though, take a fecking pay cut and play at a top club.

We're signing a striker this week if he does fly to Turkey tomorrow. I can't see us going on tour with only Rooney and Wilson as strikers.

We could finalize a Lacazette transfer in a couple of days without any problems.

Good luck to Robin. Great player. Thanks for everything

Everything... but especially this!

Despite there being plenty of rumours about this for a while, I've not believed any of them until now. I not only thought LVG would give him another season, but that there was a good chance he could still recover his form.

I wonder how much this was a financial decision having such an expensive no. 2 to Rooney...

Correct decision. He was fantastic in his first year here but it was unfortunately followed by two half-arsed seasons of mediocrity.

Kind of anticlimactic end here for RvP but we will always be thankful for the no. 20!

Aulas's cuntishness will surprise him, he's Levy-like.

Exactly, why are people thinking the transfer will be straight forward? Aulus will start ringing other clubs to create an auction.

Pissed off if this happens. He can still score goals if chances are created. None of the strikers from last season managed to shine, simple reason for that is the creativity part of the team was a hot mess.

Just like Nani it says a lot to me that no big club(Turkish league is only the 12th best in Europe by rankings) seems to have come in for him.

He can do MUCH better than Fenerbahce. Lower the wages RVP and have a great end.

Fair point. Then again it could have been related to their high wage demands.

Disappointed with how this appears to be going, think his decline has been overstated. Let's hope we've got someone else lined up already because if we don't we're in trouble.

I'm all for selling him and have been for a good while now but I don't like the idea of us negotiating for a striker with only Rooney as our senior striker. Selling clubs will know that and make it difficult for us.

With that said, there are people with a lot more knowledge than me sanctioning these deals so I remain hopeful.
