Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leicester Manager

I don't get why he fvcked Buonanotte's momentum when he arrived by starting to sub him like if he had 4 options for that role, while the kid was doing more than fine
he didn't he couldn't play because he got suspended, before then he was starting, since he hasn't played as well as before, he was really poor on Wednesday and rightly dropped, if we stick with this formation I'd bring him back in for Spurs

Getting Skipp in for 25m was a monumental waste of money considering they already have similar midfielders like Ndidi, Winks and Soumare.

Also botched the striker recruitment in the summer and then got Edouard last minute who's done nothing and will be sent back.

So it's just not the manager but recruitment issues for many years.

Someone on their forum said they should've just refused to sell Dewsbury-Hall and taken a points deduction as they could have more points that way now.

Go back five years and they had a fantastic midfield of Ndidi-Tielemans-Maddison-Barnes so sad to see how quickly their 11 has declined in creativity and talent.

RVN was a legend as a player and rightfully so. (Though went off him a bit after the whole bullying incident)

As a coach/manager I think many United fans were overrating him. I said at the time that I saw McClaren as our safety net should things go bad, not Ruud. He himself says that after his experience with PSV his one thought was that he felt he wasn’t ready for anything more than coaching. In fact he even tried to resign from PSV before the season ended but the club talked him into staying.
But if anyone thought that an I experienced manager could walk into that mess at Leicester and do much better then I’d say they’re dreaming.
I feel he should move away from the ETH style and make things compact and tighter. Be harder to beat. Give themselves a chance

RVN inherited a very poor squad. As you say the Summer recruitment was extremely poor especially the Skipp & Edouard moves. Apparently we can't return Edouard in this window so RVN is really handicapped by poor upper management.

Has Edouard had many chances to play? Surprised it’s gone so badly, was only 18 or so months ago that he was first choice ahead of Mateta.

not really no, he got injured and by the time he returned Daka was back, made the bench for the Liverpool game when Vardy was injured. Honestly him being 6'2" and being more physical might be worth a shot at this point

He has not made the bench most weeks & there are lots of rumours that he arrived out of shape & hasn't trained well.

Would make sense as to why he couldn't hold a place down at Palace either. Mateta is obviously a good striker but Édouard is more talented for me. Needs a lot more than just talent though to be successful.

Yeah I used to be Edouard > Mateta but JPM’s just the all round better player these days…better in the build up, better movement, a lot more physical, better finisher, think he’s become a really good PL striker. Edouard’s movement is good and he’s a good finisher but you don’t really get anything else from him, can see why he scored a bucket load of goals for Celtic and has struggled with us both. Still think he’s worth a shot in your predicament though.

They have two massive games coming up.

Spurs (A) and Everton (A).

Season defining games you'd imagine for those 3 clubs.

They could lose heavily at Spurs. As bad as Spurs have been, they're capable of thrashing teams. I'd also back you to beat them, Moyes should manage another win without many problems.

I'm not sure he's really done much outside of what I'd expect?

Lost to basically every team that is better than them (which is essentially 17 clubs) and had a very tiny bounce when he came in. When you think the team above the 3 promoted teams is Wolves, who have spent huge money and just avoided PSR because of it to maintain their hope of staying in the league. Then it's Everton, Spurs, WHUM and us! High risk going there and will be high reward if he can keep them up but it seems unlikely.

Ironically I think he's going to be the man who helps guarantee United's safety by ensuring at least one other team gets relegated.

The Leicester squad is terrible tbh. Wolves are like an elite squad when you compare them with Leicester.

we signed a new full back yesterday which should see James Justin dropped, its a shame Ndidi pull his hamstring in our last win, he and Soumare were starting to form a pretty solid pairing in front of the back 4

What's the deal with him nowadays? I was looking at a possible RWB options for United and saw he was out of contract in 2026 and thought he might be a potenetial short-term, cheaper option for them - homegrown player, still only 26, has played on both sides extensively and seems to have a goal in him.

Seems like he's gone off the boil completely especially defensively from what I've read of late, do you think that's largely down to the 2 major injuries and loss of the pace he had at his peak?

not quite the same since his serious injury and also not helped with Ricardo being injured, having just replaced him so his poor form was forced to continue when he wouldn't have been playing.

He's being asked to basically be our entire right flank which he's not really up to as he gets exposed, especially next to Faes, he'll come good he just needs a spell out of the side.

There's also a school of thought he's better at left back anyway, which is where he got his England cap

He won one league game vs West Ham?

I watched it and West Ham had 30 shots and could have scored 5 or 6 goals, it was like watching Utd under ETH, they had chance after chance and Leicester got very lucky.

I think he was mad to go there.

He started with a win and a draw (WHUM and Brighton) - hence why I called it a tiny bounce. Their form before was DLLDDLWWLDLLL but yeah, he said as much in his presser (I watched it too) that they were not great. Their only hope is smash and grabbing enough to points to give themselves a slim hope of survival but I am confident all three newly promoted teams will be relegated this year.
