Probably nobody has answer to this but hypothetically if Putin dies tomorrow, would this be closer to end or are his potential successors/allies equally fecked up to carry on?
I think at this point, we're all just trying to outdo each other for that title.
The UK is directly involved in massive War crimes. The UK has a much stronger and closer alliance to horrendous regimes committing such crimes. The UK is protecting said regimes by different means, that their crimes barely make it to the news.

This is only way to end it quickly. NATO is vastly stronger than Russia aerially but I don’t see how Putin doesn’t escalate to nuclear war of that happens because it would destroy him politically. Genuinely the hope is he’s taken out or the oligarchs turn on him.
The governments are, most people just want to be left alone and have peace.
Putin would have majority of key person in Russian's government supporting him, maybe some being divisive but he can't do this alone. He's the lighting rod but I doubt his subordinate back home aren't on the same pages at least
I remember very clearly the headlines of Zelensky. A comedian winning the vote to lead his nation. I remember the warm and proud smile of a comedian. His bright face and how happy he was. I remember the warmness typical of a comedian and the over joyous nature.
He was so happy back then. To understand this situation now, and the likelihood that he will be killed? Its very sad. Its sad in any case. The smile of a comedian, his aim to make people smile, his smile is no longer present. These are very dark times.
Its been so sad also to see Ukraine is so desperately begging for assistance from Nato members, the same nato members that only today bombed Somalia. The same nato members, who whilst they say they were assisting in building up Ukraine, perhaps there was the hope from them that they could manipulate Ukraine into putting a finger up to Putin and Russia.
Truth is that Ukraine have been used and now ditched. Nobody really cares and nobody will care except for the history books and the poets of future poems who write about tragedy.

I wouldn't be suprised if they told Putin they are firmly on his side before it all went off only to back peddle now. Would weaken both the west and russia... China is in it for themselves... not some despot in Moscow.

That does not automatically mean he plans to take back those states. What he wants and reality are two different things.
Ukraine being a non NATO country was an easy target.
The US and other senior members of NATO need to meet with Putin to find an amicable solution. Or we are slowly headed to WW3.
Rather than just talk about who is right, hopefully they can agree to put Humanity first.

They are there as deterrent, to make Putin think twice about going any further.
