Rugby World Cup 2015 | Reminiscing Thread

In the tackle and the breakdown, the irish do actually look the more threatening with ball in hand but the french defence at the moment is superb, I think only one missed tackle that half for the Earls chance.

I suppose Wales Australia was a shite game too with nothing for 'better' teams to worry about.

Ireland have improved in the second half but you can hardly say they were stretching the French defence. Route one stuff which isn't hard to defend. As for the Wales - Australia match, I thought the quality was significantly higher from both sides.

It must be quite weird for the Irish to have a single rugby team that represents both countries.

What a fecking week to be Irish. This was basically a quarter final as I can't see either us or France beating New Zealand. Do the Poilsh now to top off an amazing week! Come on the lads!!

Fantastic result. Well deserved win, excellent second half, especially from the players who came in.

Sexton, O'Connell, O'Mahony all injured and O'Brien probably gonna be cited too though. Big cost.

First time I've seen Ireland have such a solid squad. We have someone just as good to come on to replace key players if someone gets in injured in almost all positions. Won't get carried away but we're in with a real chance this year

I'd fancy Ireland against Argentina most times out of 10 but that might prove to be a Pyrrhic victory with Sexton, POC and POM all very doubtful for the QF.

1 to 23 Ireland were fantastic today. All the talk of the french physicality seemed to come to fruition in the first half with Sexton and O'Connell's injuries. But in the second we just came out and absolutly battered them. For the second try O'Brien and Henderson were just crashing through the gainline as if it were nothing.

Job done. Great performance today. Worrying how we've lost quite a few players though. Always knew the France game would be physical, but that was mad. Didn't expect Sexton, POC and Mahony to all leave the field like that.

What a game from Henderson
Big man punching a guy who isn't even looking. What a cnut.
He'll be cited, im guessing they will give him a 2-3 week ban, it really decimated our forwards for next week.

If SOB is banned for the rest of the tournament can we replace him or is that just for injuries?

Madigan was brilliant when he came on. I'm more worried about O'Brien's stupid banning than Sexton's injury actually.

O'Mahony out for the rest of the WC with knee ligament injury. O'Connell and Sexton still being assessed.

I'll be most interested to see who referees France vs New Zealand match. Hoping Wayne Barnes but it'll be Nigel Owens or Craig Joubert.

Madigan was pretty much flawless yesterday, all of the subs were immense. The shocker is that Sexton could be fit for Sunday. I personally think all the stuff with Payne was a ruse to keep the French guessing and he was always out. Presuming honesty and that it's NOT the case here, does Sexton get his spot back?

The worry with Madigan from the videos above is that he did it on pure adrenaline and wouldn't be able to repeat. It clearly meant so. much to him, but can he do when he knows he's the man three days in advance? Its a different mindset to being the super(super-super)sub.

Regardless, the way the squad has advanced is phenomenal. When have we ever had a bench that can so seamlessly come on and keep the quality level?
