Yeah guess that makes sense. Boks & Ireland are also in the same group - so you'll need to start with some intensity here.
You’re starting off against Scotland, or as we like to call them up here, South Africa B :D

That’ll be no easy game though, Scotland are a rough group third seed. You’ll just have too much up front though and I wouldnt blame Rassie & Nienaber from just playing a restrictive power game and leaving the wide channels well alone

That bit cracked me up

But it's true

In years gone by, I've referred to the England cricket side as South Africa B. You just reminded me of the song ''That's in England'' from Aussie singer Denis Carnahan ahead of the 2013-14 Ashes series. Needless to say it was pretty popular here.

   That’s quality, amazed I’ve never seen that before.

We’re pretty guilty. Not half as guilty as you and the Kiwis using all the island talent…..though to be fair none of them want to play for you anymore:lol:

It's fair to say that the rules governing qualification to play for a National team have been stretched a bit. All teams have a variety of nations in them thanks to a Grandmother etc except the Southern hemisphere teams, particularly the Boks who are all Dutch anyway. The Blacks have Islanders to strengthen their team, nobody else but Aussies want to play for them anyway. The Argentinians are, as far as I know, all born and bred in Argentina , but play in Europe.
Franve v All Blacks will be the World Cup final this year. Spin a coin to get the winner.

Brutal game so far, loving it

I'm waiting for the Chelsea Luton game to start and the most interesting part about this scoreless game is the Springboks player who has silver hair

I'm also trying to draw parallels between this and gridiron football

Also, they have VAR

Also, no longer scoreless

Thing is, I can watch a game played at this relentless pace with this level of collisions….and I don’t mind if it’s scoreless, every moment is entertaining

@adexkola just doesn’t like the way a load of muscly men thumping into each other makes him feel.

Seeing all these monstrous foreign animals destroying each whilst the minute english schoolboy runs around bollocking them and telling them what to do….if that doesn’t excite you then frankly I don’t know which private school you went to

Let’s not forget, NZ beat SA in the group stages of the last World Cup….and SA went on to win it.

This is a pasting though, they’ve left a lot of points out there

it’s impossible not to draw parallels of days gone by, when the empire, and in turn, humanity, was at its peak. it’s enough to make one moist-eyed.

Jokes aside that bok scrum actually did give me a hard-on

no one scores umpteen unanswered tries against the all blacks and gets away with it.

watching the south african coverage that sky sports have paid for. the saffers are definitely the worst when they win. no idea why the english are considered worse.

I didnt get to see the game, thats an absolute thumping of the ABs.
2 weeks out from the WC, that will have the Springboks as favourites now surely?

The Boks have evolved since 2019 and it feels like they have been going under the radar a little. They have the bomb squad and the amazing pack but the decision making and use of the ball in the backs is very impressive now. They are a brutal machine.

At the game, decent enough spectacle if you're SA fan, but absolutely horrendous event. The organisation is a disaster and you can see why the sport languishes behind football, a terrible Dan experience.

It has taken 90 mins to get to a train station next to the stadium. Even left 30 mins to let the crowd die down. Horrific and never experienced anything like this at football or other large events.

Likewise, can we kill this myth about it being more sporting? Three crowd members telling a father and his young daughter to feck off as they left with ten mins to go was eye opening. Turns out sports fans are shit regardless of the sport.

It's such a Tory sport

The Boks really prepare themselves for the WC. Maybe one season of the four nations (or whatever its called.) But its the WC they really want.

In all seriousness, yes it’s traditionally more of a middle class game, no denying that. But it’s a great game for smashing those stereotypes because of the intensity and mentality required.
It’s a shame the sport is in such a fallow period. Too early to say it’s dying but it’s certainly declining in popularity (in England) which is a huge shame

Mentality of sucking up to a sole authority figure who has never actually toiled on the pitch. Tracks with Tory worldview tbh.

Was also at the game. Was disappointed it wasn’t a proper back and forth game but was a decent spectacle. Literally sat in the highest row of seats and I don’t think the game moved from anywhere but the far corner of the pitch for the first twenty minutes

From that far away I couldn’t see the finer details so naturally we all thought the ref was a bellend for stopping the game constantly regardless of if he was right or not. Felt like the early yellows somewhat decided the game however I still think SA would have done them regardless. They were clinical. Great to see a few spells of the offload game from NZ though. They’re great to watch when in full flow.

In terms of the crowd, I only saw one guy being a knob which is far less than I expect to see tomorrow.

Ian Foster has added another two unwanted records to his collection - biggest defeat for the All Blacks against the Springboks and the All Blacks' biggest ever defeat against any national team.

The red card was a massive moment but it felt like the damage was on its way to being done by the time Scott Barrett got his 2nd yellow.

The All Blacks really missed Shannon Frizell who monstered the Springboks in Auckland about 6 weeks ago.

The Boks were very good across the park. They looked like a team that had a hitout last week while the Kiwis looked like they hadn't put near enough to their strongest team on the paddock for a month.

Are we ready for England's latest exhibition of rugby when they take on Fiji at Twickenham a little later.

I've seen the Boks play better, but I can't remember the last time the Kiwis looked this bad. What actually happened to them? Just a bad day at the office? Even so, they don't look unbeatable at the moment which will give everyone some confidence.

I think Ireland or France will win the World Cup.

I think the following will happen.

NZ 1st, France 2nd Group A
SA 1st, Ireland 2nd Group B

Ireland bt NZ in QF
France bt SA in QF

France win SF vs Ireland and therefore world cup

Other side of draw irrelevant to winner
