Wouldn't necessarily say I'm negative but I definitely have a big expectation of Ireland and Leinster. If we aren't winning the biggest tournaments then it's a failure for me. Nice position to be in considering our football team. Maybe I'm being harsh today but 20 missed tackles is awful in one half. Italy to be fair have been excellent and are becoming a very decent side.
You’re correct in your attitude at the moment. Ireland (and obviously Leinster) should be expected to be winning tournaments right now

Italy’s tryline defence is colossal compared to where it used to be

Yes Murray and Hansen brilliant!! We need to never move Doris away from 8 again. He's too good to be moved around.

Plenty of warning signs for Ireland's WC ambitions again.
Ominous feeling again that when we start to move into a favourites position in world rugby, we get very jittery and start to lose composure.

Byrne has been a bit anonymous too in the second half.
Not quite Carty vs Japan but not exactly commanding either.

It's a jittery kind of WC group as well!

This has been a great game to watch as a neutral. Both teams playing lovely rugby and running it from deep. Italy have surprised me with their mentality, keeping it going until the end.

Doesn't help we have the top 5 teams in the world on one side of the draw. We've been really screwed in that regard.

Hopefully it's a big wake up call. Maybe it's one we've needed too. What we really need is to get all those injured players back. If Henshaw and Ringrose are fit I don't think Italy trouble us as much as today.

On Italy though they have been excellent today. Garbisi available would have troubled France and England more. Especially impressed that they seem to have finally sorted out their fitness levels.

Italy were fantastic. Considering the players we were missing that’s a decent result. It wasn’t flawless but like everyone will find it hard in Rome this series.

Painful watching so far. We should be hammering this Welsh team but look flaccid in attack. Could do with giving Smith a go here….Faz is even missing off the tee at the moment

Totally agree. Smith has to be allowed to play with Lawrence but I bet he will bring on Smith them move Farrell to 12. Pointless. England should be 12 points ahead at least
