I'm done with Farrell already. All I hear is how Ireland are average and in transition. To hell are they average, they are more than capable of beating most teams but selection and for some reason not being allowed to play the style of rugby that they are so obviously able to play is whats killing them. Hate to say it but it all started in the last 2 years of Schmidt's reign where he abandoned all the Leinster style he had for risk free boring rugby.

We look like we're just going to box kick it all day.

It kills me mate. Every province in the country have shown that we can play better rugby. Hell I've spent years watching Leinster play better rugby than the national team, despite the fact that half the national team is from there. I'd hate to be Lowe, Earls or any other winger in this team because you are on a run to nothing with the way we play. The selection issues are just the cherry on top of this shit. I'd nearly have bloody Madigan at 10 before Burns FFS.

I wonder how far we are from seeing that, to be honest. Would it surprise you?

This team is going the way of the ROI football team, dull as dishwater all the time.

 I wouldn't be surprised! I didn't mind Joey being given the torch to carry on from Johnny, even though I think Carberry is really a full back. At least that meant something new and refreshing but since he's been out we have just resorted to type. By rights Carty is the number 2 (for me he should be 1 right now with Sexton coming on for the last 20-30 minutes, especially considering I'm worried about his future in retirement with the knocks he's taken). Carty is the best 9 in the country full stop and Murray should still be the last 20 minutes guy. Its not even that hard to understand at all but Farrell can't seem to grasp it. If Carty isn't considered then, with Carberry out, then the only real option is to take the risk on Harry Byrne and hope the lad can develop into the talent that he looks like. The whole thing is a frustrating mess.

Just bring in someone who can teach us how to play an offloading game. The reason Lowe looks amazing for Leinster is because the guy can offload in the tackle. well. If fecking Japan can learn to offload then we can too. Honestly outside of our line out we generally do well at dominating a lot of games but we lack that one basic skill that is now absolutely an integral part of the game since they have outlawed most poaching and just decided to ignore the offside line to allow rush defences. Get these type of guys into the underage teams too and make a real effort at instilling as part of our game.

Edit: Cheika did this at Leinster years ago FFS and we went to Toulouse and beat them at their own game. Its not the players or lack of ability, its solely on the style being coached.

The one thing I won't forgive Ireland for, is the stealing of Lowe. The Chiefs can't afford to lose that kind of players.

This may be a Leinster bias but if someone can work with Kelleher on his line out throws then he is by far the best option for hooker that we have. I wish we'd take more of these risks. None of the hookers have been great so lets give it to the guy that is at least young in his career and at least has obvious upsides from an attacking viewpoint that the others don't have. I'd love us to say screw results for the next 2 years, get a progressive coach and just allow the youngsters to develop with the other best performing players in the country picked and not for their names or prior career.

Getting Casey on and winning this match would be the worst thing for the long term Irish rugby, Farrell is clueless and very lucky today

Farrell is a disaster and I hope he fecks off now. Friend would have been a much superior option but maybe the IRFU have fecked Connacht over enough by now. Hell just take the Leinster coaching team, anyone else but that shitbag.

Also Ross Byrne isn't up to International level, hopefully his brother is and realises that potential. But as a Leinster fan I love him for us and he is honestly close to O'Gara level in his dependency from place kicks.

I'm venting now but what happened to the offside line in rugby. Every bloody time the wide French players never retreat enough so they have a huge advantage in defence. Where's the fecking linesman?

Seriously how can you look to the flyhalfs and pick burnes over Ross, have the kiwi as scrum half when there is one up north levels above him, be starting earls at his age on the wing.

Cooney and Carty not being involved is absolute criminal. If your looking for real change then Harry Byrne is the 10 you need to just put in and let him feck up like Ntmack did and hope he comes good like the Frenchman did. But yeah Ross is a much better player than Burns is.

Only real positive is that its nice to see Furlong back. A really world class player in that role. Otherwise it pains me to watch us use Lowe the way we have and make him look an average player when he is honestly the one recent blow in that deserves his spot in the squad.

Offside is an absolute joke and not enforcing it stifles a lot of attacking play.

If Ntmack was fit this would have been a blood bath. Its a pity because we need some real pastings to make the IRFU see the light.

Burn, beirne, byrne. Are they the Irish version of Wales's Jones?

Yep its ruined the game for me. So many games are won now by the best rush defence rather than the best attack. Also means that teams all need to play basically the same way in order to be successful. I blame it for the box kick endemic too.

That is more like the JGP and Lowe that I see most weeks but again no option for the pass after because we play shit rugby.

@kidbob fair play to Lowe too for taking on so much kicking responsibility early in his international career. He's been so good with his kicks out of hand.

I really like him and he could honestly be an incredible payer for us. Really strong in most way but pretty patchy defensively. I just wish we'd play in a way that brings out his best. Chasing box kicks isn't his game. I think its why all our wingers look bad at the minute.
