Ruben Dias thread

i told you he was overpriced. His performance at EURO was nothing but disaster because for once he didnt privilege of playing with top defensive midfielders, now let see him play with Scott McTomminay in front of him hed be much much worse than Harry Maguire.

And Walker is way past his prime, he is injury prone these days, so that says it all about how poor of a selection City have to pick from defensively.
Don't get me wrong, I think City have 3 top CBs but the thread is about Nesta and Rio...

City don't have any CB's that are even remotely close to being as good as Varane, nevermind all time greats like Rio and Nesta.

If you mean peak Varane for sure, if you mean the one turning out for United we probably have 4.

That said Dias has no business being in the same conversation as Rio and being completely honest neither have a place in a conversation with Nesta.

As I’m a person who created this thread, I still think he needs more calmness in his game. If he wants to be at another level, he must improves it.

Anyway, I rate him pretty high. One of the best cb in EPL

His first season was excellent but a lot of errors creeping into his game last year. He's awkward on the ball compared to Stones/Laporte, he's not great aerially for an aggressive defender but also gets caught out diving in a lot and attackers have used to their advantage last season.

I think he’s a very good player but prone to just completely switching off.

I think pep's style of play covers up a lot of his shortcomings, doubt he'd be great in any system.

Over/under on how many City players this has been said about? (hint: greater than 11)

Good summary of where he is at. He's young so has more time to incorporate his experience into his game.

Well first it's a compliment to pep and his management skills and not necessarily a negative attribute on dias's part, very few footballers in history can claim to work under most systems and besides that it's not a criticism i levy on players like kdb, silva and some others.

I still think he's great and his record backs that up, also

Absolutely, I didn't take it as a diss on Dias part. It is a common thread you see though, and one I hope ETH replicates at United...

This is why I strongly believe we should first figure out our midfield, and then worry about CBs. Ruben is a good defender who looks excellent in Pep system. We have some good defenders who look shite because they get completely exposed.

Bit of a prick here, to a fairly standard post match question.
