Roy Keane: I have wiped Man United from my history

He's obviously a wild one, but hearing him being villified here is really sad. Not to mention if it spread off the net and into the stands.

He gave his guts for the club, and he probably will in whatever club he's involved with. It's that single mindedness that made him and will hopefully sustain him now when he's a manager. Can't have it both ways lads.

Seems calculated in that it will get him press and attention.

he's probably wondering what he's done to end up where he is. Clearly he wants a position at United. Top man

He just after press as he shite manager, "Look at me i'm all controversial, I'm a rebel me"

God of a player, total classless cnut of a man. He may have an absolutely brilliant career with the negative qualities of a person, but will go nowhere as a manager, till he learn how to treat a fellow human being with more respect and learn some interpersonal skills. Till then, I *** give a shit *** him as his career has long ended and I have more affinity for the likes of Robson, Soljkjaer and Becks.

nail +hit +head

Some of you guys bug me, Ronaldo was fecking around with us for 2-3 years, lying about staying. Yet he is rarely criticized here. Keane gave us 12 years of fecking unbelievable service, was undeniably our greatest captain and one of greatest players, and some of you guys are calling him a twat. Keane has to move on from United, he's a manager of another club now, he can't constantly suck our dick in the press nor do I expect him to, if he did and then the next time we play one of his teams the media will just say "Keane to roll over" in a similar vein to Bruce. If you watch the video on Sky sports, he says he hopes we'll win. Why should he focus on us? He's in a mid table championship club and between family life and managing a club I doubt he has time to sit down every saturday to watch us. Fickle shower of idiots some of you are.

While I agree with your sentiment I must point out Ronny was here for 6 years and also our greatest captain was Robbo (prob depends on age actually)

Keane = legend

Yeah, what I meant for those last two years he really fecked us around. Personally I disagree with Robson. Robson was a wonderful player and was probably better than Keane but Keane was a hard working player and a real aggressive force in the dressing room, Robson always struck me as dull in his interviews and elsewhere. A testament to Keane is in Darren Fletcher and how he constantly mentions Keane as one of the foundations for his own and United's current success. His time keeping and professionalism is still utilized at Old Trafford.

I've changed my vote to Martin Buchan!

This thread perfectly encapsulates just how fickle football fans can be.

"I'm pretty sure they have wiped me from their history and I have wiped them from mine, so I have no interest whatsoever," he blasted

"I don't have any attachments to these clubs emotionally"

I think these original quotes show just how fickle former players can be. He blatantly said that he doesn't feel any attachment towards the club and the fans. Can you really blame people for not continuing to feel attached to him?

It goes without saying that he will always be remembered, but he can still influence his legacy even after he's no longer a player.

Roy being typical Roy, why is anyone surprised?

This. This is EXACTLY the personality that made Roy Keane, Roy Keane. He is hot and cold. If he perceives a slight against him he will remember it FOREVER and relish every opportunity to exact revenge.

Why are people shocked? This is why I love Keane and why despite his feelings towards United I will remain to do so. He's hard nosed and old school. He doesn't approach things like "it's just a job". Everything for him is life or death, and he takes that approach to everything in life. You're either with him and he will go to the wall for you, or you're against him and he couldn't give two shits for you.

The ultimate captain, the ultimate competitor. The only problem with that sort of personality is that when his own skills begin to slip, he is unable to cope and is forced to rationalize/shift blame. This leaves him unable to inspire/command the respect he could in his prime.
