Roy Keane: I have wiped Man United from my history

In what way is he rubbishing the club? He is being honest and just saying once he leaves a club his interest leaves also. It’s probably to make it show he is only 100% committed to his current employers. Like he was 100% committed to us during his Utd tenure. It really is no big deal.

And the way the journalist has used the word "Blasted" a couple of times in an attempt to sensationalize the interview has clearly worked on some.

The man is still a legend in my eyes and is in no way a cnut. He speaks his mind and I still think it is refreshing rather than the normal rehashed shite players and managers normally spout

I can the smell the bitternol Roy!

Although I loved you and will still love you, but that won't make you less of a twat.

Please take this article with a pinch of salt. He's talking about us like his ex-girlfriend he didn't get over. He's the kind of person who refuse to go soft - and all of us who followed his career know that he's very old school. All he's saying is he moved on and that's the least he can say to please his CURRENT EMPLOYERS.

He is a legend, will always be a favourite player off mine! As a person though I have less and less time for him it seems..which is sad!

I'm sure he'll get over the fact you don't have any time for him. Don't be too sad.

Nice one, Roy.

Needed saying.

Roy Keane being a bit of a cnut...shocker!

Stick to managing failed clubs Keano and leave the best part of your life alone.

He's a bit like that bloke who, after being dumped, goes on the offensive with 'I'm glad she dumped me, if anything. It's a weight off my shoulders. I'd been thinking of ways to end it for ages. I don't think about her at all. She's nothing to me. Nothing. I'm only talking about her now because I care so little about her. I wouldn't take her back even if she asked.'

Still, he was one of the greatest players I've ever seen, so you forgive him his 'spurned lover' moments.

The sad part about Keano now is that the only way he can stay relevant is when he talks shite about someone / something. Today it's about 'erasing united from memory", yesterday it was the Irish national team. The volatility and passion that was such a force on the field doesn't seem to be channeled properly. It's turned to bitterness and bile, and even though i respect the player, it's hard to respect the man anymore.

Keano should just shut up about his past if it has indeed been erased from memory...leave the best things in your life alone and look forward. There are plenty of battles to be found in the future, fighting your past just shows you haven't been able to move on.

fans in getting annoyed that ex-player doesnt feel about things the way they do shocker.

much ado about nothing here..

I have no doubt that keane has not wiped united from his memory and thats why we often hear comments like this that seem to upset many on here. keane was a legend for us. an absolutely brilliant player and the heart and soul of our team. he gave everything he had in every game. anyone who has read his account of things knows he feels very let down by the way united handled his departure.

keane loved united and that was obvious from his book. he is a man who bears grudges and like anyone who was dumped by the one he loved he is resentful. understandable really but should not be taken so personally by united fans, if anything its a sign of how hurt he was and how much he loved united. if SAF was shoved out the door the same way I have no doubt he would be just as resentful and some on here would call him a c**t for it.

but try and remember the contribution over the years. not the bitterness of the separation

Great post. Wasn't there a rumour that Keane was speaking "on behalf of" Fergie when he criticised some of his team mates at the time. If this was the case, and he was then unceremoniously moved on, some of his bitterness might be understandable.

To be honest I just remember the great player he was and leave it at that.
He's moved on and so have United!

Now Bobby Charlton...there's a legend!

He can call all United fans massive bellends, still wont change what I think of him.

Raises handbag to chest and says "OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH".

I'm only joking with you, old top. Just thought it was funny that anyone would be sad about that.

Im sure he will..its my personal thought on the matter and this is a forum so less of the attitude fadas

I long since filed Keano away in the same draw as Morrissey, the one marked "God-like genius but also a cantankerous, bitter old drama-queen without a good word to say about anyone. Legend."

I think the two of them would get on. To the extent that they would get on with anybody that is.

I've taken note of this because it's spot on, and brilliant.

Good God, I don't know about that :wenger:. Absolutely quality player in his day, and is integral to this club's history, but in the last 20 years the guy has been a complete cnut. No time for fans, none at all - treats them with utter contempt. "Squeeze them for every penny."

a good description of kean is this

good post.

This.

He's still a legend.

Totally agree. And I dont see the problem with his POV either. Its fine. We were an employer and one he spilt blood and broke bones for. More than enough for me.

Its abit like if you have worked for a company for a long time. The loved the firm I joined straight after university and stayed with them for 11 years. They taught me everything as well as help develop and inform some of my morals and POV on many things. They were great,.

But after I left, I left, I did not have the space within to continue to have deep affection, life moved on as did my employment and and career and I had enough on my plate coming to grips with the new challenges rather and looking backward was of use to nobody. I'd imagine Keane is in a similar situation.

He doesn't actually say anything that bad either.

This is why I've never liked him. He's a cnut, served his purpose .. thanks for that Roy but jog on now and enjoy your hopefully mediocre managerial career. Lots of love xx

Trust me, if he comes back to OT and we sing the Keano song, he'll forget everything he just said and wave to the fans. I still trust he has a deep spot for us, it's just his attitude that wants the best for his current situation either manager or players, he just wants to bring the best out of every team he is in. Typical Roy, typical red legend.

When I read your posts I imagine a small child with a drinking problem.

Roy held the club to ransom over more money in the 90s, seems to have forgot that. Great player but a hypocrite, massive chip on his shoulder

Aww diddums did I hurt the feelings of your favourite player.

He was a great player for this club, I'll respect his achievements but if he can't respect this club, why should we should him any respect as a man?

He served his purpose, made us successful but thats as far as it goes for me.. if he can't love us or even acknowledge us, he can go feck himself.

I can't think of a single player who's showed us more contempt apart from Tevez and at least he has a reason in his little brain to do so.

Give me the likes of Bryan Robson and Bobby Charlton any day.
