Roy Keane: I have wiped Man United from my history

He didnt really, get your facts right before just calling out shite from the past that you've obviously no idea about.

Obviously you are a big Keane fan so I am not going to get into it with you, great player yes, great person sorry no

Kinda lost respect for him sometime ago even though he was a truly great player.

oh and he can't have much history left then.

Roy Keane: I have wiped Man United from my history
Published 23:00 29/04/10 By Paul O'Hehir

Roy Keane last night stunned Manchester United fans by claiming he has wiped the club from his history and couldn't care less if Chelsea pip them to the title.

"I'm pretty sure they have wiped me from their history and I have wiped them from mine, so I have no interest whatsoever," he blasted.
[/url]

This is the part that annoys me. This is what tells me he's become bitter. Ok, you've moved on, fine. But how on earth can you say that United have wiped you from their history?

That's a cnuty thing to say about a club where more then a majority of fans still view you as a legend. A club you captained and which gave you more success then any other you've been at.

I'm sorry, but I don't subscribe to this attitude that Roy Keane made united and we should all be grateful. If anything, it was United that allowed Roy Keane to live up to his full potential. The club, the coaches, the managers and yes the fans...We all had a hand in creating the legend that is Roy Keane.

and we still remember him, so to say he's been wiped out of the history books just reeks of cynical delusion. I know some will say it's disrespect to call Keano out like this, but to me he's the one being disrespectful by implying that the club and the fans are fickle enough to just 'wipe' him out.

Whatevers going on in that crazy mind of his, Keano needs to sort it out sharpish, he's beginning to sound pathetic everytime he opens his mouth and talks about anything other then his own football team. :nono:

I am, but im also not blind to the mans many faults.

Back to your accusation How did he hold the club to ransom ?

He held out for most of a season, just cant recall the year, for more money or he was leaving. I was at OT the day it was announced he had finally signed a new contract and there was great relief because it appeared he was on his way. He was a great player here but the club and staff were also good to him and so his comments today were a bit sad but I suppose expected. Again my last words on this

I love the way football fans think ex players have an obligatory duty to like their former employers and fans, it's not like they really cared in the first place

Roy Keane is just the latest ex united player to be called a cnut on the CAF.....

And apparently he's the classless one

He just said the club has wiped him off his history. I didn't see anything from the club to that effect. His face is still on the legends page.

At the end of the day, if Keane wipes us off from his history, he'll be left with nothing. United gave as much to Keane as he offered in return. He's a club legend during his playing days, but he's been taking swipes at everyone now.

Shut up Keano, you don't need to prove you are a rebel by giving shite interviews.

I always admired him as a player rather than "liked" him. He isn't very likable for sure.

How anyone can pass judgement on him and decide whether they like/dislike him is beyond me. Given that none of you know him personally. Too much of this sort of talk goes on in football. All that matters is that he was a fecking brilliant player for us.

It's funny how some people say he's off to Liverpool or City, he can't even manage Ipswich Town properly, second class manager/coach for sure. Great player, fantastic captain for us, but he talks like a completely idiot, ungrateful to the club that gave him everything in his career, trophies, recognition, love of the fans.

"I have Man United Wiped from my history", It's your lose Roy. The more he talks, the more he lose the respect of the only people that love him in football.

He done pretty well with Ipswich when you look at the what went on in the preseason. They had to release/sell 23 first team players. Hes moulding a decent side who have struggled badly with strikers and have been relying on loans signings and Conor Wickham of late which hasnt been ideal. The numbers of draws hes got shows to me anyway if they had a bit more fire power throughout the season they would be in a far better position.

Aww diddums did I hurt the feelings of your favourite player.

He was a great player for this club, I'll respect his achievements but if he can't respect this club, why should we should him any respect as a man?

He served his purpose, made us successful but thats as far as it goes for me.. if he can't love us or even acknowledge us, he can go feck himself.

I can't think of a single player who's showed us more contempt apart from Tevez and at least he has a reason in his little brain to do so.

Give me the likes of Bryan Robson and Bobby Charlton any day.

This.

A great player for United, don't care whether he's a big fan of United or not now.

It's easy to do that when you've fully retired and are trading on your playing glory days. But when you're a manager I don't see much room for sentiment for former clubs.

United legend, a giant on the field and a leader off it.

Now a second rate manager who sounds bitter when he talks about his past. Giving good soundbites is the most relevant thing Keane has done this year, and that's pretty sad.

Nobody talks about Roy Keane the manager anymore, because quite frankly he's less then mediocre. All the media wants from him is Roy Keane the bitter ex-manc, and to fall into that trap and give them the narrative they want from you is pretty fecking stupid. It tells me that Keano has lost his sense of self awareness.

If you want the attention so much just dress up in a silly suit and go on TV for fecks sake.

Is it me or is he actually not saying that much wrong in the quotes?

its not you -------- its the headlines that count; nothing but the headlines.

for example the last sentance (below) can be taken two ways producing a different head line

Both team could win their last two games and that means Chelsea will win it - and that would mean very little to me."

In that case, should we not call Tevez a cnut :( Coz none of us know him personally

Still a fecking legend in my eyes! Always will be.

This.

An absolute warrior of a man and lynchpin of the greatest midfield the club and probably the world of football has ever seen alongside Scholes, Giggs and Beckham. Love him to bits.

If our current No 16 had a tenth of the passion, balls, drive and leadership qualities of Roy Keane he'd be a cracking player.

Not only a great leader but a great player aswell, I don't see too much wrong in those quotes even after the press have twisted them. Acrimonious parting after so many years of great service putting his body on the line, life isn't always a perfect script and never a bed of roses.

I've seen him in action before and after matches with United fans and it was never pretty to watch and my match going friends confirmed that he was a wanker when they approached him for autographs.

There was also a report some years back in one of the United forums by a fan that he was told to eff off when he asked Kean for his autograph in an airport when Kean was flying off on holidays.

For a final character confirmation his premeditated tackle on Harland exposed the real nature of Kean the man.

Brilliant player cnut of a man

PS I never had the pleasure of meeting Ole but I can tell you now that this guy is a real gent - would you dispute that

Keano is a fecking legend.

You can if you want.

It's all a bit futile though. Since he'll never hear it or know how you feel. And the fact that he doesn't give a shit.

Football fans probably shouldn't get so emotionally involved with individual personalities. I know at the heat of the moment in a game, we might call Tevez a cnut for footballing reasons. But we don't know what he's like personally. He's probably a lovely fella.

We know what Ole is like publically. He could be a right bastard in his private life for all we know. Probably not, but the point stands.

I don't really give a shit whether football players are nice people or not to be honest, seeing as I'll never likely come in contact with them.

For the record, this thread just exposes the fairweather nature of fans. Because if he had said that he backs United to win and hopes they do (something he has done in the past as a manager, when asked the question) then this thread would have been full to rafters of "legend" comments.

Was my first hero when I started watching United, no matter what he says, will always remain a legend for me

The cnut of a man comments make me laugh, all this from a Daily Mirror "quote".

Has anyone actually found the original interview? I suspect it may have been with RTE as he was over yesterday promoting that Charity he works with.

It's this attitude that made him a fan favourite around here...so it's not surprising that it's hated when it's used against us.

He is a legend, but it's his choice. If he chooses to forget, then so be it.

But remember...the club is greater than any single man.

Is it me or is he actually not saying that much wrong in the quotes?

Depends what you consider to be 'wrong'.

If you believe he shouldn't root for us or have a soft spot, then he's said nothing wrong.

If you believe he should feel something for us, then he has.

Which is kind of what the debate is. For me, when you spend 12 years at a club, are adored, well paid and enjoy almost unheard of amounts of success at that club, you should show a little gratitude after you leave.

Mention Roy Keane and nobody thinks of another club but Manchester United. People are saying they're not surprised but frankly, I am. Not by his general attitude which will probably never change but his words. I don't expect him to say he'll be chewing his fingers off with nerves on Sunday, but wiping us from his history? That's a bit off.

He is a cracking player, struggled for form this season happens to almost every player at some point in their career.

I'm pretty sure it was his footballing ability that made him a favorite.

Without the football and united he's pretty much your run of the mill rebel without a cause.

Don't confuse these people with facts....

Exactly. United fans calling Keane a "cnut" should be ashamed of themselves. His spirit, his roughness against himself and others, his passion and his winning mentality still define Manchester United. There's a reason why Fletcher recently said that the United dressing room is even in these days full of Keano's spirit.

To be fair, I don't really give a shit about his managerial career. He can get relegated a couple times and never be heard of again for all I care.
